Highly recommend for sod installation. After searching around Jacksonville for a landscaping company and interviewing a few to install sod in my backyard, I came across Southwest Landscaping. I contacted Brad, the owner to come out and give an estimate. He was at my house the next morning, very knowledgable about the preparation, different types of grasses, maintance and the installation process. Why we made the decision to go with Southwest over the other companies, is that Southwest wasn't going to take down part of our fence to install sod or charge us an insane amount to till the yard when neither was necessary. Brad said our walk through gates were just fine and they could complete the job without taking any part of our fence down or making us install a drive through gate. After giving the go ahead, he and his crew were here that following evening prepping our yard and back the next morning installing sod. His crew completed our yard in a day and were very professional. We are very pleased with the completed work and would hire Southwest Landscaping again if we ever needed any work done and have already recommend the company to all my neighbors and friends. read more

Mowed our lawn during the summer and put in sod this past spring. Lawn care was okay. Sod didn't look very good and wasn't what we expected. It was supposed to blend into (as much as possible) the outlying lawn that survived the winter. It literally just looks like a messed up tetras board. Owner is slightly annoying with questions he asks as we have answered them on several occasions. Doesn't recall details such as that but can recall exactly how much he charged us to mow the lawn last year...odd. I put in a call to him because he never told us how frequently to water the sod or when we could mow it....no call back. Seems to be desperate looking for money. read more

Called this company in panic because I was absolutely screwed over by a private worker. I called him on a Wednesday with having 19 pallets of SOD that had been sitting out for 2 days and the owner came to my house within 20 minutes and made instant arrangements to work after hours until the sun went down to install my SOD. He literally saved my SOD and was very helpful and hard working. I recommend this place to anyone who wants the job done in a timely manner, properly and at a good price. Flakey. On Friday I called to set up an estimate to get fill dirt, grading, and sod installed. The owner set up the estimate for the next day, Saturday, at 10:00. He called back shortly afterwards and apologized for setting it up for Saturday and switched the appointment to Monday. Monday 10:00 came and went in there was no call and no-show. I called and left a message at 12:00 and asked them to call me back. It is now Friday and there has been no call or communication from the owner. read more

Strongly recommend! We called Brad in a pinch because my fiancé hired some janky guy off Craigslist who basically scalped certain areas of the yard with a residential mower, didn't edge or weed eat, and basically took the money and left. We had very little time to get the yard turned around before we needed to check out with the rental agency. Brad called me back the same day, offered to come by that evening to assess what needed to be done (and tell us whether we were screwed or not), and then came back first thing the next morning and pulled off a miracle. On top of it all, he was priced very fairly, knowledgeable, professional, and you can tell he's a genuinely good person who takes pride in his craft. If you need yardwork, call Brad. Don't wait until the last minute of you can avoid it because he books up quickly, and if you really want an awesome yard, have him be your regular guy - he's specialized in realty properties for 25 years and it definitely shows. read more

We called Brad during the summer after we were sick of the swamp in our back yard. The house is new, and the yard appeared to be graded well, but after heavy spring rains, the southeast corner of the yard never drained well. Brad came and gave an estimate next day, and within a week was out with his crew to install french drains and a full drainage system. It took the two days, and they cleaned up nicely and installed sod over the parts they had to dig. We have seen heavy rains several times since the drainage was installed, and there is never standing water in the yard. Highly recommend for any drainage issues! read more

When we bought our new home and they had told us there would be grass in front and back... our backyard was basically sand and weeds. I figured I'd call and see what I could do to get some and they set an appointment up for a look over that next morning! Brad came over and measured everything and even let me see his calculations to make me feel comfortable. He knew there was a certain budget and really worked with it. He made sure to call me and update me on everything he was planning. That afternoon he came by and mowed the little grass there was and sprayed the weeds. He came to measure the yard again the next morning just to make sure it was correct. That afternoon they had the sod delivered and laid it out. He was soo informative and helpful with absolutely everything. I have never worked with someone that was so quick but still made sure the quality was great. Being a woman home alone it can be scary having a man come out to help you. Honestly, he was extremely friendly and kind and I knew I didn't have to worry.
