Stay away from Southwest Awnings! If you read this page carefully there is a place that has six more negative reviews if you click on it. They are incompetent. They poured the footings two feet outside the approved HOA requirements. Causing us to go through the whole HOA approval process again only to have it disapproved so we had to appeal. Then they buried the low voltage lighting line and irrigation line in the cement after bragging they knew what to look out for. The more they screwed up the more they charged us and got angry at us. The project was finished five weeks late and 800.00 over budget. read more

I wanted to like them. They were recommended by both my realtor and my contractor, but....they provided a cheesy product at an exorbitant price. I had them install a screened porch. I've installed screened porches in both Florida and virginia before, so I'm familiar with the products and the craftsmanship. And the price. This was poor product. Very poor. And...grossly over priced. They are sort of sleazy up-sell type of contractors. They insisted on installing up-priced items that were either unnecessary and/or downright wrong for the space. To add insult to injury, they didn't even clean up their work site, which left me hauling crap to the dump. If you hear they are the only game in town, don't believe it. Look at St. George and shop around. I'd never do business with these guys again. Even my contractor admits he never intends to use them again. read more

I had Southwest Awning install a 25 foot by 50 foot awning for me here in Logandale. A little over a year ago we had a huge rain storm that almost collapsed my awning! it dumped so much water that the three downspouts they installed were not enough to get rid of the water and I had to put jacks under the awning to keep it from collapsing. After the storm, I noticed that the awning was sagging in the middle and called Southwest awning to come out and assess the damage. The owner Tyler Gardner came right out and gave me an estimate of over $12,000 to replace the damaged panels. I contacted my insurance company and they said it was not covered. I then contacted Tyler to see if he had any other options besides replacing my entire cover, and to my surprise he said we could modify the gutter system so the water could drain quicker and it should take care of my problem. Tyler said he could modify my awning for a few hundred dollars, and would come by and do the modification next time he was in the area. Well, it has been over a year now and it has still not been repaired. I have emailed him several times and even offered to pay his travel time as well as all materials and labor. It has gotten to the point that he won't even answer my emails. I am 62 years old and am not capable of doing these modifications by myself. If this is the type of customer service that you get from Southwest Awning, I would think twice before doing any business with them. Terry B read more

If there was a minus rating, I would have used that. We in good faith signed a contract with this company to install electrically controlled screens on our patio because we are west facing and needed a little shade on our patio in the afternoon We opted to buy some expensive high-quality screens that should have been easy to control with a remote and had a wind sensor that was supposed to sense wind gusts up to 50 mph and go up immediately. What we got was improperly installed tracks and screens that were not able to withstand a strong gust because they did not use the right toggle bolts and the first heavy wind took down the track and tore the screen. Then it took them a week to respond to our a calls for help. During this entire time we had not been able to use the screens. In fact, we have not been able to use them for 2 summers. It finally took an incredible individual to come out and let us know that most of the tracks had been put in backwards and the right type of bolts had not been used. We have had these since June of 2016 and we are just now able to use them and only because I was able to get up more than 6 feet on a ladder and try to adjust the wind sensitivity. My recommendation is that you go anywhere else than here to have anything put in your home. read more

I met with the owners of SW on 11/2/15 to have an aluminum awning erected over my patio. My first concern was how long it would take to have the awning erected and was given a 6-week lead time which would have the awning up before Christmas. The owners never contacted me again! When six weeks passed with no awning I contacted SW and its agent said the work would be done the following week. It was not, so I contacted it again threatening to cancel the contract if it did not perform and was again told it would perform the following week. It did not. This happened two more times and Christmas was in the past. When it did not appear, as promised by a fourth time on the 29th, I again told them I was canceling our contract. Their agent promised it would do the work by the 31st. I insisted on a time to expect its workers and was told by 8:30 a.m. At that time, I told its agent if its workers were not at my home by that time on that date I intended to fire it. They were not here as promised. I gave it an hour then called and cancelled. Its workers showed up two hours later and I turned them away. I then demanded my deposit back but ultimately SW refused to return my nearly $500 deposit. I took it to small claims court to recover this. At court, one of its owners claimed the only person who ever answered their phone did not represent it (in violation of agency law) and they were out the cost of a permit and the materials for the awning (I discovered this to be a lie as its supplier indicated these materials were ordered on the 12/28 and cancelled on the 31st, 3 days later). The subcontractor's order form SW submitted to me had the order date whited out but it failed to white out the delivery date of 1/7/16. In spite of this, the judge gave SW an offset of $181 ($81+ of this for a permit). SW then deducted an additional $7 when paying me the balance of my deposit. It then withdrew the permit I paid for, and the contractor I hired to build the awning after this had to secure another permit for over $87. In total, I am out $194. This company should not be allowed to do any business in Nevada or Utah (licensed out of Washington Utah). read more
