Shout out to Laura on our Denver to San Antonio flight on New Year's Day. It was great talking with her as we were first to board. Such a cheerful flight attendant that took care of us on the 2 hour flight. We joked that Southwest should add New Year's Day to the free drink schedule. She said she would take it up with management. We like to travel on holidays as the flights are not packed. And the upgrades to the 737-800 MAX are nice. Consistency in poor on time departures in every stop, maximum capacity of lower class of the human species packed in the older Boeing 737-800 series and the hiring of the second class stewards from the bottom of the class of aeronautical service colleges and the most absurd and dehumanizing experience from the get go in boarding that reminds me of the poor cattle's being prodded into the cattle cart headed to the slaughter house by standing in the single file waiting for the rapid succession of calling for the absurd groupings that do not make any sense. If you are seated in the front you should be called dead last? If you are somewhere in the middle you are allowed to board first in early groups? I just don't get it. The delays after delays force you to shop, walk, eat at the most expensive and the least tasteful and nutritionally depleted fast food. I thank you for delivering me in one piece but next time do try to SHUT UP about packed flights, keep your carryons under your seats and buckle up the belt and put on your vests. Southwest has a reputation for being a good deal for flying. Let me tell you, IT SUCKS! They don't tell you ahead of time what to do when they destroy your luggage, they just won't pay! I reported my luggage damage after I got home (after a 4 hr flight!). I submitted photos of the damage. And I have gone around in circles for the past 6 weeks. Looks like I'll have to file a claim in small claims court. What a way to provide customer service. OMG! I liked SW Air more before hedge fund investors tried to make it like everyone else. Before, prices were noticeably cheaper than competitors and there was free baggage. The lack of direct flights was a pain but the cost of saving money. The open seating was quirky but not offensive. Now, since investors arrived, prices have gone way up, no more free bags, there is assigned seats which an avenue to charge more for certain seats, and there still is a shortage of direct flights. In short, the emphasis changed from pro-consumer to pro- business and making more money. Given the deteriorating customer service, it is hard for me to justify flying SW. read more

Sweetest crew of ladies work at Southwest Airlines in ABQ. We had a quick and pleasant check-in experience ahead of our flight. We took a trip with our pup so we wanted to make sure it would be easy to navigate our reservation and it was. The line was relatively short and moved fast. The recent changes no longer differentiate Southwest from other airlines, in fact, they make the experience worse. Assigned seating offers no real value, as all seats are essentially the same and there is no true first-class option, so it is unclear what customers are paying for. Requiring additional fees for seating further undermines what once made Southwest appealing. It appears the airline is attempting to recover losses caused by its own decisions by passing those costs on to customers. After using my remaining points, I plan to cancel my credit card and discontinue booking with Southwest. I have been a loyal customer for over 15 years, and it is disappointing to see the company move away from its customer-focused approach in favor of profit alone. read more

Flying through ABQ quite often, always a positive experience with Southwest; Had a 6pm flight but finished work early and was able to make it to the airport before 1pm to look for earlier flights. Wanted to give a shout out to Paul for assisting with finding an earlier flight, and going above and beyond! Saw a flight was delayed and looked into what the reason behind the delay was, going as in depth as one could get before helping choose the flight that best suited my need. Southwest Airlines and I, has been a love and hate relationship. But I would say I love it more than I hate it. It took some getting used to that seats weren't assigned, heck I even had a couple cases where I couldn't sit next to my partner because of it. But I learned that unlike other airlines with assigned Seats, on southwest you have to get there early. It also helps if you're sitting in b or c boarding to upgrade to A. A little trick I use is to sit in the furthest part of the plane, and I pray no one sits next to me and my partner and I can stretch out. When I get lucky in that way the plane ride is so incredibly enjoyable. I am somewhat disappointed by how hard it is using their rewards system to actually get enough miles to get a free flight. I've been flying multiple times a year like 5 times a year for 2 years and I have nowhere even remotely close to enough to redeem one ticket. However, their low prices I suspect is the main catalyst driving this nuance. So for this reason I'm okay with waiting as long as it takes to get a free flight lol. I will say this though, you really have to compare airlines as much as possible because once in a while you get a much better deal somewhere else. For example on my flight back to Albuquerque from LA when I finally make my big round trip to my multiple stops and come back home to the Abq, I'll be taking delta only paying $75 more and flying nonstop first class! read more

Vanessa was super quick to tell us to go stand at end of a line when she saw that we were misguiding and had been waiting. I rarely fly but my son had enough flyer points to book free flights round trip so we took advantage of them and booked. The whole week leading up to our trip southwest had experienced many problems with their flights and had cancelled thousands of them so we weren't sure if we were still going to go. Two days before our flight we hadn't received any cancellation and so we prepared for our trip. Everything went smoothly and on time. Only thing was the tsa people at the airport suck. We flew nonstop to and from our destination with no problems at all. I've only flown about 7 times now and I've never had any issues with southwest. Let me not forget to mention that a few days later my son was reimbursed 50k flyer points for any issues he may have had during southwest's meltdown. Delayed flights all day, and poor customer service policy. Southwest tried getting us halfway to our destination, with no intent on getting us the rest of the way until the next day. Southwest was also refusing to pay for any hotel for us to stay in after they were gonna leave us stranded overnight out of state, and could not guarantee a flight to our original destination (Hawai). We asked for a flight back home and a full refund before they were all of a sudden able to get us on a flight same day. The final leg of our full flight waited at the gate for over an hour for more delayed flights to catch up. read more

This was a terrible flight experience. I usually fly Southwest and this was the first time I had the worst experience. First . At the beginning they told us they may not get to the beverage service. At that moment I kinda felt they were trying to make sure they keep us seated the whole time. I had my seven year old with me . He was thirsty and they wouldn't allow him water then he had to go to the bathroom and they wouldn't allow him to go. It was almost as they planned this before hand. The weather seemed fine and they kept telling us to sit down but hardly choppy so this was very disappointing because my son was excited to get on this flight. Well it's the cattle car of airline but I was in A group so I got on with no issues, got an isle seat, and had room for my luggage. There are no tvs or anything, however the people were nice, and it was a good flight. No frills, but honestly the people were great. It was a cheap flight, left on time and arrived safely... Just completed a first leg of a family trip to Los Angeles Upon arriving at the Albuquerque airport , discovered they had no power to operate security safely. People stacked up everywhere and could only wait Didn't take us long to realize nothing was leaving anytime soon, and since we really didn't have to fly immediately we went back home to rebook our flight the following day Calling SW Airlines was definitely our best decision all day Super helpful CSR rebooked us the next morning. Gotta LUV it! This morning's flight was on a nearly empty plane. Only about 40 of us plus crew and captain. So we each got our own row. In fact, the flight attendants insisted on it, separating lovers, moms from babies, and special-needs passengers from their guardians. A little bit of a fuss, and no nonsense allowed. Just kidding, of course. The spacious cabin was pure pleasure - I love being able to stretch out my long legs in my own row. Southwest crews and flights have never disappointed me. Even when I missed a flight, had to accept a middle seat, or had a longish flight with only peanuts and pretzels. As long as they continue to offer great prices to my favorite destinations, I'm a customer for life! read more

Southworst airlines is a money grab. I booked a flight for February 8 returning on February 11. My itinerary showed returning March 11 in the email they sent me and I didn't notice it. I could swear I selected 2/11 on their website but I suppose I could have made the mistake. When I showed up at the airport my confirmation number wasn't working and that's when I noticed it showed 3/11. They charged me $140 to get on another flight that had plenty of seats available and now they can sell the 3/11 seat. Good customer service gives the customer the benefit of the doubt. I know naive huh. Lessons learned and it only cost me $140. I'll try other airlines for a while unless Southworst is cheaper lol. read more

No issues at all. I'm still going to give you a review that in no way is associated with the airline. I'm going to tell you a story about what happened on the flight from ABQ to Chicago. Like any other flight, we loaded up to come home that afternoon. Luckily my lady and I got to sit together. The problem? The old lady sitting in the row with us. We were sitting there before the flight and she decides to ask us if she could use our phone. Apparently, her phone was in her luggage which was lost somewhere. Lady.. just carry your phone with you if you need to use it. It's not just her. It drives me nuts when people ask to use your cell phone. Cell phones are disgusting! Have you no decency? It was one thing that she was on before us and claimed the window seat. I don't care how often you fly! If you're going to sit in the window seat, then look out the FREAKING WINDOW! At least once or twice! That doesn't even touch on how she had to get up a few times during the flight! If you need to go to the restroom, take care of all that before the flight or at least sit close to a bathroom or take an aisle seat! Next up... the lady spilled my gf's drink on her! Uh... are you serious? It was an accident but are you kidding me?! Watch where you swing your arms! Last but certainly not least, upon landing, I thought that was the end of this lady. I have a carry on bag that will fit under my seat. I don't even mess with the overhead compartments. I stand up, step into the aisle while waiting to get off the plane. What happens? The lady decides it would be appropriate to ask me to get her luggage(the luggage she didn't lose) in the overhead bin. WHY ARE YOU EVEN FLYING?! I was nice and got her luggage but after that flight, I fear for her children, her husband, her sisters and her brothers. I fear for everyone that takes a seat next to her on a plane in the future. They have their hands full! When we were off the plane, she was walking behind us and I was sure that she was going to ask to use our phone again. Thankfully she didn't! Ugh... people. read more

I LUV SWA! Southwest is the best! This Dallas company really knows how to work it. Free bags?! Yes!! Free snacks!? Woot! Leather seats? Ja! I remember back in the day (fondly) when SWA was just a domestic airline. Now, you can fly from ABQ Sunport to the Bahamas or Mexico City! This low-cost, no frills airline easily surpasses the competition. You gotta check specifically on their website, since their fares aren't published on search engines like Expedia. The staff has always been friendly, and they act like the genuinely enjoy working there. They joke around, sing, and freestyle on the loud speakers. When I went to ABQ, I missed my flight, and they easily booked me on another flight departing minutes later to get me back in Texas as soon as possible. Thankfully, I've never had much of an issue with booking on SWA, and have always been happy with the fares, the Rapid Reward points, and their free bags! Some airlines charge as much as $50 per checked bag, which can really change the decision between the cheapest fares. They often will route you around the country to get you places, but it's the scenic route! They've stopped giving out peanuts! Now it's just pretzels and cookies. read more

Wowsie! I was dropped off at the Southwest terminal, they met me before going in, check ed my bags in, and were so polite. I'm thinking, "Is this Southwest?" It was Southwest. So let's review the terminal and the plane ride. The terminal was clean, and employees were cool. I happened to be wearing a sombrero, and it happened to be Cinco De Mayo. Oh, what fun we had. The plane was 10 minutes early, check in was fast, and the plane's staff were fantastic. The pilot announced certain cities we would fly over. It was the pilot's birthday, and the whole plane trip was the most fun, positive plane I've ever flown in. I gave Southwest in a different city very low stars, but this branch of Southwest is one of the better, if not best. Very positive experience. read more

They have really done themselves in this time. Never will I use this carrier again. Notification at 12:45 AM that a morning flight is cancelled and no available flight for 6 days. Not acceptable. Then later in the day showing available flights for next day?? I wouldn't trust them again. I will fight for my refund and bag charges with the carrier that I am going home with. I may see if my 2 nights in a hotel are reimbursable as I did not voluntarily elect to stay additional days. Southwest deserves to go under this time. The Southwest staff at this location are AMAZING and deserve some major kudo's. After just getting done with training and trying to fly home the soonest possible, I had a lot to pack up and didn't plan out my time wisely. After zooming as fast as I could (and possibly faster than that) to returning to return my car, I noticed that I had 40 minutes til boarding and quickly running out of time while being shuttled from the rental car lots to bag check-in. I am MAJOR late! This was the most crunched for time I had ever been and feared that for the first time I would miss a flight. Take a deep breath... The women at the check-in desk saw the sweat literally running down my forehead and me visually stressing out. They got to work hastily and got me all set to go run through security. What a relief! But that wasn't the end. Then I got to the gate and found out that my payment for the ticket still had not gone through (Could this day be any more stressful!?). But the lady at the gate was also quick to help and got it all worked out. I may have been the very last person to board, but they got me home and I'm very grateful that every one of them didn't just shrug and tell me there was nothing they could do. Thank you! This review is more about Southwest in general. Used to be my favorite airline. Fast, efficient, super friendly and funny..........WHAT HAPPENED? I fly a ton. I fly southwest a lot of the time. Anymore the majority of my flights are delayed significantly. And quite a few have simply been cancelled. Today I'm supposed to fly from Albuquerque to Salt Lake City with a quick touch and go through Phoenix. With no reason given, first leg is delayed over an hour and second half is simply cancelled. But don't be concerned the staff has rebooked me on second leg after an 8 hr layover in Phoenix now putting me home well after midnight. Original trip travel time 3:45. Our flight was canceled to Las Vegas on 02/21 and they claim it was weather related yet all other airlines were flying in and out with no issues. All fine and dandy. But when we called to reschedule the only option was next day and the woman on the phone was rude! Well not our problem was it?!?! I usually fly American or Delta, or United , and have never had a problem. This time, I have flown with Southwest with my family and have had the worst time in a simple check in online. It wasn't user error as others tried to follow the check-in process and had the same results. I even called there 800 number to speak to someone , waited on hold for an agent for 30 minutes , and finally hung up. Horrible customer service. Also on my flight from Albuquerque on 32, there was an incident with a flight attendant being totally disrespectful with a older Native American couple about their religious beliefs that left me astounded. All people , especially the elderly , should be treated with respect. The consternation points me to NEVER utilize this class "c" airline again.
