I have been a customer/member with Florida credit union for almost 20 years. I have had multiple…read moreauto loans and a home equity line of credit with them. Without going into specifics, one of my autos was totaled and there was (and still is) some unanswered questions leading to confusion on the pay off of that loan. This in itself seems to indicate poor ethics/practices, let alone what was coming next. I simply called to obtain some information on my other vehicle loan that I have with them. During this phone call I was surprised by a higher balance than I was given previously as a payoff, by almost double. Naturally, I was confused by the information and admit I was surprised and did ask, "how can that be?" In answer to my asking this, I was pretty much accosted over the phone by Jennifer. She would not even allow me to speak or ask the questions that I needed (and still need) to have answered. She was loud and very rude. She talked over me and repeatedly told me that I was old enough to know that if I borrowed money I had to pay it back. I would like to add here that I never said I had any intention of not paying money that I owed. I never alluded to it or even considered it. Jennifer was very condescending and just kept treating herself a little bit louder each time. I did ask why no one had contacted me as they do have my phone number, my personal email, my home address, and a message system through their website. Jennifer stated to me that she was "telling me now." I did ask to speak with whomever her manager was and she told me that she could transfer me so that I could leave a message. I stated that I wished to speak with a person right at that moment and she laughed and stated to me how that wasn't going to happen, inferring that I and the issues I had were of no importance to their institution. She also let me know that I could call back but that I would be told the same thing. I left a message on the voicemail she transferred me to but of course, did not receive any response. I did call back again after about an hour had passed because I still needed information from the credit union. I spoke to kind woman who stated she could not help me and would have to transfer me to which i said "ok, but please don't transfer me to Jennifer" and explained that I had just had a rather unpleasant encounter with her. When my call was transferred, Jennifer picked it up and told me in that same tone and with a laugh that she had told me that if I called back, I wouldn't get anyone different or any different outcome. And then she hung up on me without me even saying a word. I cannot imagine that any institution would accept this behavior as customer service. It was degrading and embarrassing and absolutely not appropriate or deserved. Unfortunately, I still don't have any answers to my questions and will have to continue to pay off my existing loan with them. However, I will never do business with Florida credit union again and will mention how they are treating me as a 20 year customer to anyone who is asking me about my experience with them.

Do not recommend this bank in any capacity…read more I made a deposit of over $500, I fully understand that banks sometimes put holds on deposits. That's ok. What is not ok is when they make the funds available in your account, then after you start spending they put the hold on the funds. Yes you read that right. They put holds on funds after making the funds available. This causes your account to overdraft. And where there is an overdraft- there are over draft fees. You can go to a local office, or call, and all they will do is laugh at you and refuse to help. This kind of operation is unethical and illegal. Do not open a bank account here. They will steal from you and laugh when you are upset. It's been over a week since they placed holds and I called them. Their response to all of this was a lousy comment on a review and wanting to close my account and refuse to apologize for any trouble they have caused me financially because of this. Because their employees are "human and allowed to express themselves" and that "maybe I should be more financially responsible" How does spending money when it's available to me make me irresponsible? What the heck?! The math ain't adding up with that logic. They have also decided that they will place a 2 WEEK HOLD on funds. They don't care that federal reserve states a reasonable hold is 6 business days. And 6 Days has passed. They do not care that orders I had placed using my money when it was available were cancelled and cannot be reinstated and now prices have doubled (flash sale) saying it's my problem (that stems from their sloppy mess of placing holds on funds after they were made available) Seriously red flag alert here I cannot stress this enough. Not once in all of this have they apologized or tried to do anything to rectify this. I was promised the hold would be lifted Monday so I could find another bank sooner but as it is Tuesday morning and the funds are still on hold that's a fat lie. I cannot say enough how horrible this bank has been. FDIC and BBB should shut them down.

I have gotten to know a few of the tellers and they are friendly and efficient. They also know me, as evidenced by their "buzzing" me in through their security door when they see me. I tried a different branch and they wanted me to take keys out of my pocket, and then who knows what else they would have wanted, but I let them know I would go to my normal branch instead, thank you very much, and left without making it inside. So anyway, the organization is happy with the services of United Southern, and I am happy with this particular branch.
