Great in-person experience with Thomas B at the Lecanto branch! I set up a new FCU account online and was confused about some account activity as I tried to connect that account to an account at another institution. Thomas listened carefully to my situation and resolved my issue quickly. This experience ranks right up there with the best in-person service I've received anywhere (in 50+ years) from a banking institution. Customer-to-customer tip: if you can, go to a branch when you have an issue. I called several times without reaching anyone and also had no response to my online contact form submission. In person, I was seen within 5 minutes of registering and had a resolution in less than 15 minutes. I have been a customer/member with Florida credit union for almost 20 years. I have had multiple auto loans and a home equity line of credit with them. Without going into specifics, one of my autos was totaled and there was (and still is) some unanswered questions leading to confusion on the pay off of that loan. This in itself seems to indicate poor ethics/practices, let alone what was coming next. I simply called to obtain some information on my other vehicle loan that I have with them. During this phone call I was surprised by a higher balance than I was given previously as a payoff, by almost double. Naturally, I was confused by the information and admit I was surprised and did ask, "how can that be?" In answer to my asking this, I was pretty much accosted over the phone by Jennifer. She would not even allow me to speak or ask the questions that I needed (and still need) to have answered. She was loud and very rude. She talked over me and repeatedly told me that I was old enough to know that if I borrowed money I had to pay it back. I would like to add here that I never said I had any intention of not paying money that I owed. I never alluded to it or even considered it. Jennifer was very condescending and just kept treating herself a little bit louder each time. I did ask why no one had contacted me as they do have my phone number, my personal email, my home address, and a message system through their website. Jennifer stated to me that she was "telling me now." I did ask to speak with whomever her manager was and she told me that she could transfer me so that I could leave a message. I stated that I wished to speak with a person right at that moment and she laughed and stated to me how that wasn't going to happen, inferring that I and the issues I had were of no importance to their institution. She also let me know that I could call back but that I would be told the same thing. I left a message on the voicemail she transferred me to but of course, did not receive any response. I did call back again after about an hour had passed because I still needed information from the credit union. I spoke to kind woman who stated she could not help me and would have to transfer me to which i said "ok, but please don't transfer me to Jennifer" and explained that I had just had a rather unpleasant encounter with her. When my call was transferred, Jennifer picked it up and told me in that same tone and with a laugh that she had told me that if I called back, I wouldn't get anyone different or any different outcome. And then she hung up on me without me even saying a word. I cannot imagine that any institution would accept this behavior as customer service. It was degrading and embarrassing and absolutely not appropriate or deserved. Unfortunately, I still don't have any answers to my questions and will have to continue to pay off my existing loan with them. However, I will never do business with Florida credit union again and will mention how they are treating me as a 20 year customer to anyone who is asking me about my experience with them. read more

Don't use this bank. 20++ minutes on hold any time you need to talk to someone. But more importantly, if you do bank here: Don't die with accounts here. Even joint accounts will take months for them to process through their poorly named "Death Department" (according to the first person I spoke with). I'm convinced it would have been faster to put my Dad's accounts through probate. Meanwhile I've been completely blocked from doing anything with the account and can't access funds for estate costs. I called today and was informed that what do you know everything is processed but they needed to know how I wanted to handle the account... close it out or become primary account holder. REALLY? I had to reach out? You couldn't be bothered to contact me about it? I asked to speak with a supervisor and was instead sent to the person handling the account in what I guess is actually the Fraud department. He told me that "to be frank" they only received xyz documents from me and they had limited information. I sent exactly the information and documents that were requested of me, and they had my contact information if they needed anything additional. Then the icing on the cake, he says "To be frank with you, we are busy. I flagged your account to peak your interest so that you would reach out to us." You gotta be f'ing kidding me. He had time to flag my account but no time to pick up the phone and call me? I haven't logged into the account at all because I was blocked from doing anything with the funds anyway. I originally opened up a boat loan with Florida Credit Union in Ocala Florida branch. I went Saturday July 12th 2025 and paid the boat loan in full and it counted as cash and the teller that was there closed the accounts down and I asked all the questions that I was able to and I was told that everything was fine. I said it but what about the payments? I was told that there was no problem because it was closing. Monday morning I look at my bank account and it shows the boat payment was being pulled out because it was an automatic payment but I was never told anything about having to cancel or do anything on my end with Florida Credit Union. When I was there paying the boat loan in full. Monday morning I called the customer service for Florida Credit Union and a man answered and I did not get his name. I wish I did because he was very rude to me and I was already stressed out about the money that should not have pulled out of my account and he told me that I needed to calm down because there was no way the money was going to clear because the account was closed at the Florida Credit Union and that it was fine. I said are you sure and he said yes. We left it at that. Monday afternoon. I get an email from the lead teller. Nicole and the email tells me that they reopened my savings account without my consent in order to put those funds into it and now that I had to come all the way over to their Branch in person because of their screw up to withdraw the money and close the account. I have never dealt with anyone that does something like this and it's very unprofessional. I spoke to a supervisor named Lila who was supposedly located over at The villages location which is more than likely going to be the Wildwood location. From what I can tell on Google maps. Lila already started out with an attitude so I knew it wasn't going to be a good phone call. I was very stressed out and I just told her what happened and she gave me an attitude and started blaming me and my bank for the issue. Lila ended up disconnecting the call with me because I said the word shit. I tried to resolve things with them but they did not listen to me and kept blaming me and my other bank which I thought was very unprofessional and absolutely ridiculous. I will never do business with them again and I did plan on using them in the future for a car loan and now I will never use Florida Credit Union again. This could have been resolved Monday morning when I called their customer service and I could have had everything stopped immediately instead of them going behind my back without my consent in reopening my savings account and then not even telling me till later on when it's too late to do anything about it. I did call my bank later on and they did try to put a stop payment to it but it was too late. I want somebody to be aware of this situation because I know that it is not okay. Reopening a closed savings account without your consent to add funds could be considered an unfair practice under the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA), according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). read more

I am shocked at the illegal tactics they use to get business. They ran my information off my online application to try to price quote out my auto loan, approved me for a percentage over the phone. Told me they could knock a quarter percent off if i opened up a credit card. NO PROBLEM. I drive up to the location where they said paperwork and check would be ready. Forced to wait over an hour to find out "oh that rate is below our floor we wont honor that" and they offered me some jacked up crazy rate... did not care even slightly about the hassle they put me through. insane bait and switch tactics. do not trust this bank read more

I am a new account holder and there were mistakes from the dealership and myself by not paying attention to when first payment was due. The dealership told me 2 months which was not true. I received a payment book which stated Jan 17 2025. i set that up. But It was due in Dec so no payment was sent. I received a letter in Jan saying missing payment. I called the credit union and sorted out what happened but at first the caller a man communicated at attacking me but he did calm down as we sorted what had happened. He transferred me to Jennifer to take payment and again attacking. "I said why are you guys so nasty. She went quiet and I spoke to her in an attack mode and she came back with "why are you so nasty" I got off the phone and tried to call back she answered and said she wouldn't talk to me. I went ballistic and yelled every name I could. Then tried other numbers of the company and could not get thur the system. Finally I was, after an hour, and the 2 ladies did handle my account. But this is no way to treat a customer who in some part pays your check. read more
