We made an appointment for Friday, 5 September between 11.00 and 1130. I got a message at 10:48 on the that day saying he was held up on a job involving a well for drinking water. I understand that drinking water is more important that irrigation and let him know that I understood. He said he would swing by later in the day but never showed and never called saying he would not be able to make it. He reached out that night at about 8:30 apologizing and we rescheduled for 10 September between 3:30 and 4:00. Because it was urgent to get a operable pump going, I reached out to M&D Pumps on Saturday morning and ended up speaking with a nice man named Marc. He was there within an hour and had a new pump installed and running within 2 hours after my call. He was also a very pleasant man who was very knowledgeable. On 10 September, Malcolm again did not show and again, he never called to let me know. I sent him a text expressing my disappointment and asked if everything was ok . . . no response. I reached out a day or two later and have not heard back from him. So . . . based on my experience, if you are looking for someone who may or may not show up to work on your irrigation system by all means - GNC Pumps and Irrigation is your company, give Malcolm a call. If you are looking for a company that can work on your pump and will show up in a timely manner then I strongly recommend calling Marc at M&D Well and Pump at 757-718-6149. I ended up doing the irrigation work myself but I have three neighbors that recommended Joe Mallack Irrigation at (757) 615-0868. I'm sure there are other great irrigation companies but I cannot recommend calling GNC.

The quotes we received all came back relatively close in price. Initially, we almost didn't go with Andy's company because of the format of the estimate he provided. However, after meeting with him, he was candid, very responsive to correspondences, knowledgeable and detailed with our inquiries. He was very informative throughout the process and provided better solutions than the other businesses for our upcoming lawn projects. After hiring Andy, he remained committed to making sure we were happy with each aspect of the work all the way until we did the final walk through. He continuously kept us informed of the schedule, and we appreciated that the yard was kept clean. We were very impressed with the level of effort they put into making sure the grass and dirt were placed back into the trenches they dug. Overall, great work, customer service, and professionalism throughout the project. Highly recommended!

Heads-Up it is time for an update…read more While I was originally unimpressed the first two times I used their annual services to maintenance my sprinkler system that they installed, over the last few years it appears they have improved their processes and I haven't had any issues. They send annual email reminders now at the beginning and close of the season to schedule your routine sprinkler test and turn-on and turn-off (winterize) your system. Additionally, they're responsive to phone and email (email is preferred for me) and they have their individuals call when they are on the way so if they give you a window of a few hours you can still wander a bit away from the home and have about 15-30 minutes to get back. The individuals who have come out to my property have been polite and prompt and have listened to my needs and adjusted the timing schedule and showed me how to use and update the schedule if I want to make changes. No issues or complaints here. They are doing a good job and seem to have taken some of the feedback for improvement to heart.

We also had outdoor structures out there and I didn't want any of those damaged. For the last year, my sprinkler system started to get a mind of its own and would cut on and off sporadically while a few of the heads were missing some part of my yard that needed water to survive. Nothing irritates me more than burned grass. They first offered a free estimate where a gentleman came out to examine my system and after showing me what needed to get done, wrote me an estimate. Two days later, two more gents came by to take care of the to do list to include replacing valve heads, moving valve directions, and installing a rain sensor. They spent about 90 minutes testing and retesting my system to work the way I want it to. The best part of the service was that their office was prompt in calling to schedule and remind me of appointments. It was within a minute that they suggested there needed to be a follow-up appointment and I already received a call with their first available time. They also offer a service plan where they will ensure your system is running properly with an option to have a midyear checkup. I haven't decided on the plan yet but it seems to be worth it for the entire year. Maintaining a yard is hard and your sprinkler system needs to be on point!

He made a thorough assessment of my system, diagnosed some serious issues, showed me clear evidence that he was 100% correct, then quoted me a ridiculously low repair fee. When I asked about this, he reiterated that he has many years of experience and expertise, the right tools, and a work ethic that says to not draw out jobs to make them cost more. I agreed to have him make the repairs a dew days later. When Walter returned, he was true to his word. He performed tree root surgery on my water line, moved multipe heads, replaced multiple heads, reconfigured the flow and spray, and made my life easier.
