Three work outs per week intensive. And nutrition plan. It's the best thing I ever done. Neil the PT is exceptional he guided me through the beginners training. And on to group training which is brilliant. There is always a PT there to help you with training and nutrition guide etc. And it's not intimidating all sorts go young and old. I cancelled my charity walk to croach Patrick mayo because I was overweight. After 14 days of training and nutrition plan I lost 14lbs. I could not believe it when I got my scan. And lost 2 inches of my waist. I climbed croach patrick mayo on Sunday just gone in 5 hours. I would never have done this had I not joined this gym. And the excellent support from Neil and other PT and the encouraging emails and texts from educogym every day. This gym works. It's worth every penny you spend on it. Go for it. Paul m.

Educogym was recommended to me by a fellow student and I was intrigued by the apparent "Kick your…read moreass if you miss your training sessions" attitude, since that's exactly what I was looking for. I have to say that everybody in there was super friendly so far and they really make you feel welcome right away. You'll pay for a consultation session which will be refunded if you actually go for a contract. The guys really listened to what I wanted to achieve and are very motivating during our sessions. After a kick start period of two weeks they then changed the training plan to accommodate my personal goals. I lost half a stone in the first two weeks and am more than willing continue the program. Can definitely recommend this, if you 're willing to change your diet/lifestyle along with your fitness program.

As a student forced (yes we are required to for our degrees) to pay UCD over €250 a year for this…read morerubbish, only to be told it's extra to use half the facility, I wouldn't bother going near this place. I wouldn't even mind that it's an extra €100 for "full access" (so that's over €350 now) but it's not "full access". You are BANNED from using the pool side gym which is air conditioned and forced to use the small "performance gym" for most of the time you aren't in lectures or meetings. As such I can only comment on the performance gym which is: small, very hot (to the point I have nearly thrown up from training before, not due to exhaustion or over training, but purely from the heat), and lacking in good equipment. One example is there are only 2 rowing machines for students to use in the entire facility since we cannot access the pool side gym. One of which for a long time had a broken foot strap which was "fixed" with a shoe lace, and the other which had a broken monitor so you hadn't a clue of your split time or strokes per minute. The resistance of the machines also was almost certainly broken as it felt significantly lighter at full resistance than any other university gym I've visited before in my undergraduate degree. On top of all that, you are forced to bring a towel (something that just means either paying UCD more money for washing that towel if you live on campus if you go to the gym every day or paying UCD more money to get the towel from reception, either way you are effectively paying UCD per gym trip on top of the €350 you have to pay to be allowed this privilege), supposedly for "hygiene" even though you're meant to use the disposable paper roll and antibacterial spray to clean equipment so not sure what the exact expected use is for. Plus you cannot give any feedback on this. Go to any staff member and they will either pretend like it's perfectly fair that on top of the tens of thousands in fees, this forced gym membership, and the cost to actually use the gym because of this ridiculous rule about towels that is unique to UCD for a shit service, or they will blame an "external company" and feign ignorance regarding any complaints procedure to make you go away. All in all, waste of money, awful place for students and the lack of capacity internally for feedback is shocking. Serious change needed and if I was in government, I'd be wanting to know where UCD is putting the money they are getting for student facilities because it's definitely not going towards students.

Great place for students to come work out. They can facilitate every sport you can think off…read more Have played Olympic handball here. They offer swimming facilities, tennis, outdoor fields for most sports (even american football) and have an indoor sports hall for badminton, basketball and volleyball.

How could you not try a trainer who calls himself "The Transformation Catalyst"? Dominic Munnelly…read moreis the man behind the dream and is a highly enthusiastic personal trainer based on the southside. He regularly contributes to RSVP etc, has an interesting blog (http://thetransformationcatalyst.wordpress.com/) and is very active answering questions and giving advice on boards.ie. When I went to see him he was in a smaller gym but moved to the Crossfit gym a few weeks later-looks like it's far more roomy. I'm pretty sure he could put you through your paces in any location-indoors or outdoors though! Dominic was great at answering emails enquiring about his services and saw me early on a Saturday morning. Had a little assessment (not so sure about the body fat reading) and a fun workout-he's quite Crossfit (http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/what-crossfit.html) based with solid Olympic lifting thrown in and sensible nutritional advice. I liked it that he also incorporated yoga and foam rolling-good for the perpetually injured! Wasn't thrilled that he insisted on telling me my weight even though I begged him not to...but I'd stopped crying within a week or so. He emailed me a programme a few days later which was nice and gave plenty of things to keep me occupied-mix of weights and Crossfit workouts. It was a bit too full of push-ups and bodyweight squats for me though....my shoulders and hip flexors were threatening tendonitis within a couple of weeks. I'd have preferred if the training session included a run through/more detailed discussion of the programme too-didn't have some of the equipment in my gym. Bit pricey at €80 per session but he is good and is amenable to doing follow up sessions whenever you like. He also includes a free "check up" the week after to make sure you understand all the exercises etc. I'd probably have to say the Edge (http://www.yelp.ie/biz/the-edge-clontarf-dublin) suited me better in the end-David there picked up on shoulder and hip tightness before he gave me a programme and purposely avoided push-ups and squats to try to correct imbalances. And that was without being told I'd had issues before! Bonus: Dominic brought me a homemade flapjack. Feeding me on a Saturday morning merits an extra star!
