Dance Classes for Children Ages 3 Through Young Adult
We offer classes for ages 3 through young adult, with levels of beginning through advanced. We have the most affordable prices in WNC. We have a family friendly, non competitive, and supportive environment, We develop the students technical, and artistic abilities and knowledge. All classes participate in our Spring Performance, with beautiful modest costumes and appropriate music. We are the home of SoDance : a Nonprofit Student Performance Company
History
Established in 2006.
Southside Dance was established in 2006 to bring quality dance training with affordable prices for students in South Asheville, Fletcher, Arden, Hendersonville and the surrounding area. We offer dance classes for ages 3 through young adult, with levels of beginning through advanced. We serve Hendersonville Asheville and the surrounding area. With Ballet we have a professional training program, offering Ballet, Pointe, Pas de Deux (partnering). Mr. Overbey the schools director was a professional Ballet dancer for fifteen years. Further we offer classes in Modern/Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap, and we have the most affordable prices in WNC. We have a family friendly, non-competitive, and supportive environment. Meet the Business Owner: Kevin O.
Kevin Overbey received most of his ballet training from Anna Marie Holmes. He trained in summer sessions at UNCSA and the National Academy of Arts with Petrus Bosman. Overbey made numerous trips to NYC to train with master teachers such as Madame Darvash, David Howard, and Wilhelm Burmann.
Overbey danced professionally for more than 15 years with nationally recognized companies such as the San Antonio Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, and Nevada Ballet Theatre. In his professional career he danced roles such as the Cavalier, Snow King and lead Waltz in the "Nutcracker," Dracula in "Dracula," one the four couples in Balanchine's "Allegro Brillante," and worked with many of the current choreographers. He also performed in the acclaimed Bally's show "Jubilee" in Las Vegas, and "Red Hot" in Shanghai China.
Overbey taught ballet throughout his performing career. He taught company class for Ballet Tennessee, and was on the staff of Academy of Nevada Ballet Theater, teaching advanced ballet.
