I had been hearing about this place, so I made the trip.. Glad I did.. they have a good selection of left handed guitars (right handed too) the guy working behind the counter was friendly. He recognized I had never been there before so he told me to grab a guitar and plug in. I hit a few licks on a really nice fender strat, slapped a bass, and walked around exploring the joint. It's really cool having a spot that specializes in left handed guitars, bass. Guitar Centers rarely have more than 1,2 lefty guitars in store, if any. I'll return no doubt. read more

If you can't go in person check out their website and if you don't see what you want then give them a call. You never know what Jim may pull out of the back room! Southpaw Guitars - Here's my NOS Gibson SG Bass. A wonderful bass, plays like butter. I am blessed and privileged to become a member of the Southpaw family. - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - Houston, Texas

I bought my first guitar here back in 2001, a sunburst Gibson ES-335, still my favorite axe. Just today I purchased my first Taylor, the T5z Pro, and included in the purchase another Taylor GS mini for a significantly reduced price. I've been texting on and off with the owner re: this axe for months, and he's been super patient and helpful with me during the entire process. (I've also called in re: several Heritage guitars over the years and he was always friendly and helpful.) He took care of the shipping cost and gave me a great deal on the bundle. Couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Southpaw Guitars remains an oasis for us lefties out here, who struggle to find quality instruments! Kudos! read more

Staff is rude, not sure if they have some prejudices but their behavior was off putting regardless. Kept pushing the sale of a "kit" when I specifically said multiple times I was looking for something nicer, as an upgrade/replacement. Staff proceeded to ask l how long I've played (18+ years) only to suggest the cheap beginner kit again. read more

I was in the market for a Taylor lefty 12 string. I got an excellent deal during Taylor's BOGO sale and picked up both a Taylor 250ce-DLX and a Baby Mahogony. The order process was fast and easy. The guitars arrived within a few days beautifully setup and ready to go. They also upgraded the hard shell case to a premium hard shell at no charge! The staff there is great and as a lefty who's been around a while I would consider them my go to team! I can't recommend them enough! read more

Lefty Mecca! If you are left handed and are in the area you have to visit. Kind of a sketchy area. You have to get buzzed in. But once inside all of your left handed dreams come true! It was almost sensory overload. I wondered if that's how rightys feel when they go to Guitar Center. The opportunity to try virtually any guitar that's made in a lefty. Can't miss. read more

Shopped here for years! Jimmy is totally laid back so don't think anyone is going to get too excited about anything. Great Prices! Great Inventory especially now after the expansion. I tell everyone about Southpaw (especially Southpaws!) Guitars. They have many right hand and other instruments as well! read more

Stood outside for a couple of minutes and rang the bell as stated next to their big bolt door. I tried pulling on the door and it felt like it was shut.... I go look in the window by the register and there is a gentleman that looked at me and then walked away. So much for supporting local businesses during the pandemic. read more

I fly from California just to browse. the selection is great, service is fantastic. The only place I buy my guitars from. Love Southpaw!

These guys are great! I came from LA to get a left handed guitar. The selection is unparalleled! Very knowledgeable and patient staff. Highly recommend!! read more

I'm not a southpaw, but I needed some gear recently and called these guys. They were super responsive, and had just what I needed. The store itself is loaded with guitars and gear of all sorts, neat, clean, and friendly. Don't be put off by the iffy looking strip center where it is located--these guys are customer oriented, friendly and helpful. Give them a try. read more

If you have a lefty in your life, this is the store for you! HUGE selection and amazing service. Omar and Jim are simply the best. My husband and I have been to guitar stores all over the USA and have never seen a left handed selection that compares. Shop Southpaw! read more

I buy all of my guitars from these guys! They're very nice, have a great selection, and of course the guitars are left handed so I can actually play them! Will continue buying from them read more

This is by far the best guitar store I have ever been to. The atmosphere is so welcoming and the staff makes you feel like home. I flew from NJ to Houston to buy a guitar and (as a lefty) I was overwhelmed with how many quality guitars there were. I bought a beautiful 52' tele reissue and they gave me a great deal on it, throwing in a cable and strap in a tweed case. Omar, one of the staff members, was extremely knowledgeable on every guitar in the store and even let me play some rarities that weren't on display. They seriously care about each and every customer and Jim, the owner, was a reflection of that. Southpaw is the best example of what every guitar store should strive to be and I wish them luck in the future! - Josh S. read more

This place is lefty-heaven. Lots of beautiful guitars, courteous staff and great prices. Gave us a great deal on a Fender acoustic/electric for my wife's birthday and she loves it. 10/10, highly recommend--we will be customers for life. read more

As a left handed guitarist I never have much selection in usual stores as at most there are very little left handed guitars to choose from. So when I went to this store I was amazed at how much selection I had for left handed guitars and basses of all types of brands. If you're left handed looking for a new guitar and want options, you need to come to Southpaw guitars. read more

Although they have good selection for lefties, the service is terrible. I made an ordering mistake and the owner wouldn't refund my money, despite the guitar not having been shipped yet. Said he was "already inventory-heavy" as a reason to force me to continue the sale. Very dishonest way of doing business, and certainly not the way to attract repeat customers. I cannot understand why the owner would compel a customer to go through with an order they didn't want before it had shipped (other than for short-term financial gain, of course). But I was trapped on the technicality of their refund policy, so it was my fault. Buyer beware of this fact! read more

Simply the best guitar shop that I've ever frequented. I'm not even left handed! Prices are great and Jimmy is a very fair guy to work with. This place is a certified dealer in almost any brand, Taylor, Gibson, Fender, EVH and several others. Prices are as good as internet shops like Musicians Friend. I love this place!!! read more

Having never played the guitar, I went here to get help picking my first one. I walk in and eventually one of the 5 employees asked "you left handed?" And I said "yes". I then explained I've never played and have always wanted to learn and would like help on picking a good guitar. The guy then handed me a tuner and said here you go and walked away. I wondered aimlessly for a few minutes and then left. Never coming back here. read more
