Within 2 hours I had my appointment with Dr Mohammed (as requested) for a day that suited me. My appointment as always was superb, Dr Mohammed always remembers me, gives excellent advice and gives the best (pain free) hydrocortisone injections! I have been with this practice all of my life and seen them grow from Dr Mr and Dr Mrs Mcrann. to the state of the art care they now offer. yes, they get busy, but if needed a doctor will always see you. The reception staff are patient, kind and caring too.

Which kills by the way. It's a big place with regular smoking cessation, diabetes and stress clinics. They have a team of very nice nurses and the reception staff are smiley and kind. They used to play rather annoying muzak but seem to have stopped that in recent years, although the kiddies soft toy play area can sometimes get a bit noisy - not ideal if you are a migraine sufferer. You can always get an appointment - the only downer is the lack of reading material - Golf magazines and leaflets on COPD feature heavily. Hopefully you won't need to use a doctor much, but if you do find yourself looking for one in the Harborne area, then this comes recommended.

Not so weird now, is it? I have lived in town 6 years now and was chuffed to bits when I finally got a Doctor's surgery open up within walking distance. Located on the downstairs floor of Boots, from the moment you walk in you can sense the efficiency. You MUST book an appointment, however, if you are desperate and there are no appointments available - there is a walk-in clinic right next door. I have been going here for several years now and have only been delayed for an appointment once. The appointment times are pretty convenient, but as you can imagine; it's a very busy surgery. If you don't require an emergency appointment, it's best to call after 10am - if you do, call as early as possible. I've regularly had appointments the same day or the next day. The worst thing is not having a dedicated Doctor. The Doctor's and Nurses have always been great, but it would be nice to have someone you have dealt with before when you revisit. That being said, I've found this surgery to be clean, reliable and accommodating in terms of opening hours.

It's fine. That's as much as I can say so far…read more I was attracted to this surgery because of the extended opening hours and because, basically, they were close to me and taking patients. The staff on reception are very pleasant, although the morning I went to register there was only one so the wait was long. Intake assessment is a few forms and measuring your own height, weight and blood pressure. I gave myself 3 attempts at getting a nice BP measurement as the horrific prospect of knowing my weight after over a year of avoidance had sent my systolic sky-rocketing. I returned the following week to see if I was set up and had been given an NHS number and was told I was good to go. I asked to be set up for the online booking. First of all they gave me the wrong details, so I had to go back. When they gave me the proper ones, my account had the wrong address and they'd misspelled my name. I also had no option to book appointments. They fixed the errors when I emailed but told me to call about the booking. After 15 minutes on hold I was cut off and gave up. Multiple emails went unanswered. Eventually went back on and they reset it or something so could book. At last! It's not too easy to get an appointment if you work. The extended hours don't really seem to translate to appointments at those times. You could definitely be waiting weeks. On arrival for your appointment, you check in using a touch screen which saves time. It gives an estimate of the time to wait but that was actually wildly inaccurate when I went. It claimed things were running to schedule but there was actually a 20 minute wait. I occupied myself by almost getting trapped in their bathroom which has a very dodgy lock and using the Boots free WiFi. Actual consultation was adequate. I kind of missed the pleasant GPs in the random walk-in clinics in Canada or my lovely one at home. This definitely feels more like a walk-in effort. All in all, it's alright. Reception are friendly and it's nice to book online, even if it ends up being for the far distant future.

Though not ill she was still nervous so I offered to go along with her to hold her hand. Inside I realised the enormity of the surgery. There must have been at least 20 consultation rooms. We were running late and couldn't get through on the phone to let them know so we just turned up hoping my mom could still be seen. The lady behind the reception was really understanding and helpful, it was as if she could sense my mom's nervousness. She said we would have to wait about 15 minutes When we were called through, the doctor confirmed whether or not my mom would mind a trainee doctor being present, of course she said no - if anything to confirm she would have a detailed examination. The doctor then continued through the health check procedures. She went through some details of how my mom could bring her cholesterol down and she discussed her BMI. The doctor clearly wasn't putting on a performance for the sake of the trainee, she just wanted my mom to be completely comfortable and to go away with all the information she needed. If I still lived over this way I would transfer my Doctor's surgery to here right away. I was really impressed with the professionalism of all the staff here, if only all doctor's surgeries were like this.

So that was pretty boring. The doctors themselves were really helpful in getting to the root of my problem. You know how some doctors try and see as many patients as possible to keep things good, tell you not to worry when you think you have a serious problem, give you some drugs and hope the problem goes? Here it felt like the doctors (and receptionists) actually care, result!! Yes they gave me drugs to solve the problem but that came with genuine advice and reassurance. They're a teaching practice so it can be embarrassing having a student present; especially if you have an extremely personal problem. It was a little too far for me to travel but the services provided make it worth it. So I think the Hall Green residents are lucky! There's no other place like this so it's great that they can do: screenings, vaccines, antenatal clinic and asthma clinic plus there's a pharmacy so you can immediately pick up your prescriptions; extremely handy as I am a busy person.

Not being a morning person, I still had to jump at the chance of being offered an appointment within two days of ringing up -- albeit at 8:45am. (Inner monologue: "Oh dear god, what do the hands of a clock look like that early?") Unfortunately, the receptionist had made a mistake, and didn't have a record of my appointment. I was offered an appointment for tomorrow, which I accepted. The GPs/doctors are all very friendly, with fine bedside manner. They often spend more than the typical doctor's two minutes listening to symptoms and recommending treatments. Though I'm not a hypochondriac (honestly, I don't own a single thermometer), I've been to the Surgery about half a dozen times in the past two years. I've always been seen straight away, with less than a five minute wait. The receptionists are all unfailingly polite and helpful -- not something most patients associate with the NHS! The Surgery itself is a bit dingy, and the building is dated. Unfortunately, there is no parking outside, and the only options are very poor street parking or dishing out £2 for the car park across the street. All in all, if one is sick, it's not a terrible place to end up.

I have always booked with Andrew Leask who in my opinion is highly skilled and always tries to look for the bigger picture, the source of the problem. Rather than looking to just stop the pain he looks to what you can change yourself that might prevent such an injury from reoccurring. Andrew has been able to put right any injuries or back problems I have had on the first visit the majority of times and only on a couple of occasions when the swelling has been too bad / fresh for him to manipulate have I need to return for a second visit. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone.
