Southgate cancelled our Contract several months into the project. It appears to be a very common practice of theirs. No reason and then they were so cowardly that they would not return our calls, emails or text messages to explain.
Their sales representatives are dishonest and unethical. Once they have the sale, customer service disappears. It also appears that their senior staff has had rapid turnover.
They are cancelling contracts and telling people that they can possibly recontract at a later date, but they will have to pay more for the house since market conditions are increasing rapidly. Bottom line, they are cancelling contracts at will, for dubious reasons, and reselling your lots at a higher price.
We also have reason to believe that they and other builders in the DFW area may be violating EEOC Laws by targeting "Cultural Buyers." If you are a minority or a member of a protected class by any definition, this violates the Fair Housing Act, and your complaint is now Federal.
Southgate is already deleting any negative comments that are posted on their Facebook page so they can try and hide what they are doing. So, if you want to get the word out about this unethical practice - post it here or on other channels they cannot delete. Update: They have totally removed the review section form their Facebook page.
For anyone who is concerned about their business practices and would like to find a way to stop Southgate and other unethical home builders from engaging in this practice - we can stop this anti-consumer practice in the State of Texas but only if we band together.
Please contact me @ tenzignorgay52@gmail.com.
Please provide as much detail as possible about what happened to you and your contact information.
Individually we will not be able to enact change. Together we will.
Please share your story if any of this has happened to you - we have reason to believe a lot of us got cancelled recently and they are trying to blame it on the storms or the market.
