No complaints except for the peculiar and inconvenient way to pay for tickets with a debit card that requires PIN. Instead of paying at the ticket window, you have to go inside and get in line at the concession stand along with everyone buying popcorn and sodas, because the little device you enter PIN in won't fit through ticket window. Saw the Odyssey in July with my pregnant wife. Movie theater was unbearably hot. Halfway through the movie went outside to ask why. Was told A/C was down. Would've been nice to know before purchasing or seeing the movie. read more

First off I walk in with my two grandkids and we all had a Dutch bros cup (both were almost finished) and this lady at the register with dirty dishwater blonde hair told me and my grandkids that we couldn't have a drink or food from the outside we said okay and she begins to tell us the same thing over and over again while we were still buying tickets for the movie and right after my grandkids throw away both their drinks I told her that I would keep my drink and just drink it in the lobby and we started to head to the movie room and the lady says out loud that I couldn't bring in my drink when I was headed to the garbage to get rid of it and as soon as we get in it's a perfect temperature and we are just waiting for the ads and a worker comes in and peeks on us to see if it was just us in that room and it was after that more people started coming into the movie and it got so hot all the people were super hot fanning themselves and when we got out the movies we went to go in a different movie room to see if it was just as hot as it was in ours and it wasn't It was way cooler. So we're walking out of the hallway we saw a guy. He said he was a manager there and we told him it was super hot in our room and not in the others and I told him it was on purpose, and he completely snapped back at me he said that could never happen because he's the one with the codes and as being a manager he had the same type of attitude as the older lady with dirty dishwater blonde hair and felt harassed the whole time we were there it was 99 degrees outside so of course we had a drink when we walked in and after we threw away our drinks we wanted some iced water and she said if we didn't have a quarter we couldn't have a cup of water I also bought a refillable popcorn and we put the first fill in a bag and asked for a refill of our popcorn then the girl did not rip the bag but when we went back and then we went back to get more butter and then the older rude lady ripped the bag and we asked about it she told us it was to indicate we already refill like we were gonna go back for a third very rudely we were confused because back then the didn't rip the bag also when we already paid 50 dollars for tickets popcorn and a small bag of candy she just couldn't just give water and had to say it very rudely no we need a quarter then when our movie was done and we walked out we looked back at the sign on the door and it did not indicate anywhere about food and drink only big bags and backpacks so the moral of the story is SouthGate cinema in Grants Pass has very rude staff including the manager and the bathrooms were filthy and over all a disappointing experience read more

Impossible to hear any dialogue. Asked them to fix the audio twice and got tired of waiting (30 minutes) so I asked for a refund, was told it was corporate policy that they didn't do refunds. If you go pay with a card so you can at least do a chargeback. Worst theater I've ever been to. read more

It's an old theater without modern amenities, but I've had mostly good experiences. Since you do not select your seat when you purchase your ticket you can simply avoid the broken/gross chairs and find another. I've been to movies all over the world and the moment we walked into this lil Theatre we we greeted with Smiles and laughter ! $7 matinee for beauty and the beast . (Which I have LOWERED EXPECTATIONS because I ABHOR CGI!) Screen not this BIGGEST But sound system was great, and its clean and cool inside! The concessions where we bought Tickets, 2 large drinks, large popcorn with Extra Butter, ranch seasoning, jalapeños and they even topped off our Popcorn to make sure it was the Fullest! Not only did they listen and respond friendly but Overwhelmed us with professionalism and kindness! I am BIG in great Customer Service and that's why I give your theatre 5stars! Came here for the first time ever to see "Yesterday" and I really enjoyed it. The price for matinee was great at $7.00, and the screen and sound quality were all on point, I have no complaints. Nice young ticket collector too and popcorn tasted warm and fresh. The only thing really lacking, and I took away one star for that, is the seats were really hard to sit in. They are not very cushioned in the back and it felt like a steel bar was poking my butt so I had to kind of sit slouching downward which is not good for my back. Not sure if all the seats are like this but the couple I tried were. Still, it would not stop me from coming back again, as the price was decent. read more

Theater #2 sucks. Don't see anything in this theater! The sound and/or picture is always messed up. Musty, crusty and dusty. This place is in need of a serious update. (seats and screens) Half the time the screens are having issues. The seats are horrible. Very uncomfortable, old and the armrests don't raise. Today (3/22/18) during Death Wish, the screen completely froze and I had to go tell someone so they could fix it. Sometimes the sound is SUPER LOUD. (A Quiet Place) a few days ago. Usually it down too low (Super Troopers 2) today. The screen was also super dark. They really need to fix this stuff. I would never pay full price for this. Multiple times the self serve kiosk for purchasing tickets has been down. Quite annoying to have to wait in the concessions line to purchase tickets. Especially if there's a long line. Oh, awesome. They permanently fixed it. They updated the os on the machine and now it doesn't work at all. UGH!!! Now I get to wait in the concessions line, every. single. time. I'm glad there's a theater in Grants Pass. It wouldn't be fun to drive to Medford every time I want to see a movie (which is frequently) I will frequent this theater until there's a better option. The prices are a little steep for what this place is. Luckily I have Movie Pass, otherwise I would come here far less frequently. I recently saw Sing 2 at the Southgate. It's been about 3 years since I saw a movie there and I was missing the theater experience. My friend and I went in on a Saturday for a matinee and were pleasantly surprised. The theater was not jammed with kids and families. We had time to buy our tickets at the snack stand, get our popcorn and take our seats for Sing 2 just as it started. We loved the movie and felt uncrowded in our seats. People were kindly social distancing and some were masked like we were. We felt comfortable and safe throughout this theater visit. The employees were friendly and helpful. Frustrating experience, went to see Moana in 3D and the projector wasn't working. It took a half an hour before they sent someone to tell the audience of the technical issue and that they are working on it. After 50 minutes I feel now that they have no one on staff that has the technical experience to fix the issue. I am pretty sure that I will never visit this theater ever again. I've always enjoyed myself at Southgate. The theaters are comfortable and clean. Yes, the refreshments are overpriced as they are at all theaters, so figure out for yourself how you'll handle that. Either wait in line and pay the price, or smuggle. Yes, they are understaffed so plan to pay for your tickets on the computer terminal in the lobby, fast and efficient. I really appreciate that relatively new addition. Luckily, most people just stand in line, so I can usually walk right in and buy tickets without waiting. I wish that it was profitable (or more profitable) for management to hire more staff so that wait times are shorter, but given the reality, people should plan ahead for a great time. read more

I went to see Avengers Endgame last night. I was half way into my popcorn when I felt a hair in my mouth, at first thinking it was my own, I pulled it out and it turns out it was a LONG BLONDE HAIR! Which none of the people who were sharing popcorn with me had. I took the hair along with the popcorn up to the counter. At first they wanted to give me another bag? Like seriously?? I demanded my money back and it took a little bit of convincing to get it. If their employees are handling food in any way it should be required to have hair braided or in a bun. Food Southgate is not only extremely over priced but not held to high standards in quality or cleanliness. Last time I'll be buying any food at Southgate! First of all, if I could give them 0 Stars for their customer service and prices, I would! Their service is just one or the worst one I have expereinced for a long time. Popocorn $8.75? Are you serious? I can buy a whole meal for that, but that's not my point. We watched a movie at the Southgate Cinemas and bought a drink for 5.75, medium sized. Unfortuantely, we didn't see that the large drink is $6.00 and has free refills. So after buying the drink decided to buy Popocorn (15min later, thinking we would have refills on the drink, so we spent 8.75 for the popcorn with refills). Well, anyways, asking for a drink refills i get the answer "sorry, you need to have the large cup, we don't do refills on medium sized ones". Well, ok, so i offered to pay 25cents more because we made an honest mistake buying the wrong one....and then that girl, I wished I could rememebr her name just says "Sorry , I can't do that. You have to buy another one to get refills!" Are you kidding me?!?!? 5.75 and 8.75 for Popcorn and a Soda, on top of that the movie tickets and you are complainign about a SODA REFILL????? If I would have been the manager a person like that would be out in less than a second. So we watched a movie without refills..no big deal. But it gave me the impression that this movie theater is THE WORST one I have ever been at. I have been in the amazing movie theaters and spend 2-3$ on drinks and maybe 3-4 on popcorn....not more than for the movie tickets. And I got free refills....so serisouly. I've been going here since I was very young. I am a college student and have never been asked to show my ID then all of sudden I am here with my nephew and niece, who are clearly in students here in GP and the kid at the desk won't let us have our student tickets and says our ID is required. Horrible Horrible is all I can say. We were looking forward to seeing the improvements since the remodel and we were so very disappointed. The seats are so uncomfortable I left with a backache. They do not have any tilt back just sit straight up on a hard seat. The soundproofing needs major improvement. We could hear all the bangs and booms from the movie playing in the next theater. Very annoying when it was quiet in our film. Will never ever go back. Take some tips from Tinseltown or Ipic theater. Its sad that this is our only choice in this area. I will be saving my movie experiences for other theaters!!!! read more

We've been regular customers at this theater since it opened. Yesterday, right after I'd been to the concession stand and ticket counter WITH my husband, I went back out to get myself a drink and snack and was rudely asked if they could search my purse, both at the concession stand at where they take your ticket... By the same two little guys who had just dealt with us as a couple. I'm most upset that they had the nerve to ask, secondly that they were so rude about it, and third that they lacked the guts to do it until I was alone. We had just spent about $25 on snacks... What exactly did they think I was smuggling in? As a terminal cancer patient, I carry medical equipment and meds that are not the business of some pubescent popcorn peddler at the movie theater, so I absolutely refused, since they have no legal right to search my purse. They informed me that they could ask me to leave for refusing, but they didn't dare. When I told my husband what happened, he spoke to a manager who claimed they're doing it because people have been smuggling alcohol in. Well, a couple tips for the amateurs at Southgate: #1 You let bottled water in. Pretty easy to fill a water bottle with booze and get it past you super sleuths if people want to. #2 I didn't see ANY other person asked to be searched, and in the bathroom I asked about a half dozen other female patrons with bags as big as mine if they were asked and they all said no. Rude. They've lost us to Tinseltown. I'd rather spend the extra money in gas than keep this place in business if this is how they treat customers. read more

Popped off. Saw Jurassic world great, great, show better than I expected! While buying popcorn and soda I asked if they still gave a free refill, so during the movie I stopped at the end counter near the isle, next to the popcorn machine as I had many times before and asked for a refill. I stood there being ignored. The first clerk called the next person in line and the clerk next to me gave me the look... You know like your dirty, nasty, stinky, take a bath, then took the bucket and asked how I liked it. Upon handing me the popcorn with the look again and he said "next time wait in line". Shocked I responded that the movie is playing and there is a lot of people waiting in line for tickets and I am missing the movie, took the popcorn and finished the movie. On the way out I stopped and asked to speak to the manager and told the clerk with the look to call for him. The assistant manager ( the first clerk that ignored me, turned and smugly said "will I do". After hearing a repeat of what happened and how unprofessional it was, (he witnessed it ), the assistant manager said "next time wait in line". So... Here I am writing this review. Should I have waited In line, missing part of the movie or is this an issue better service should overcome... You decide. You are fore warned. One refill is free and thank you, but it will cost you movie time. South gate theaters if your policy has changed simply tell your customers, don't get like that. read more

Staff here have zero concept of customer service. 1) Paid the service fee to buy my ticket online, but the ONE ticket kiosk this theater has was malfunctioning; had to spend time tracking down a manager and waiting for him to provide my ticket - no apology, he really didn't care I had paid extra to NOT have to go through a ticketing process at the theater. 2) Both times I've been to this theater I am the only person at the counter, and I still have to wait while staff mill around right across the counter from me, not even acknowledging I'm standing there, much less helping me, for several minutes. 3) Asked for hot popcorn, but that was too much trouble for the staff. Nope. Not happening. Doesn't matter that I paid $12 for a small popcorn and small drink - it is TOO MUCH TO ASK for the popcorn to be hot. 4) They only have Diet Pepsi - no Diet Coke here, folks. So if that's your jam, you'll need to drive 40 more minutes down the road to the next nearest theater. Which IS, of course, why this theater's staff don't worry about treating customers well. read more
