I went to bring…read moremy brother who lives on campus to the back and Calvin Hutchson informed me I need a visitor pass. I said I'm liter going drop him off I'm not staying. He insisted that I still needed one. I go to the police station and ask for a pass and C. Williams informs us that they are not issuing vistors passes. My brother and I explained to her exactly what Hutchson said and she goes on to say they still not giving visitor' passes. We go back to the check point and tell Calvin Hutchson that they are not issuing visitor passes. He agrues and said "yes they are someone just came from back there". I said sir , C.Williams told us they not issuing any passes. He insists we go back. We went back and told her Hutchson said we needed a pass to get to the back of campus and she still says she is not issuing any . I asked could we get a student pass since my brother stays on campus . She asked for my license, after she wrote all of my personal information down then went sat at her computer and asked why were we still there and to just walk to the back of campus. I explained to her I brought some heavy things my brother has to carry to his room and he can't possibly walk with all of that. She said "y'all two are getting on my nerves and I already talk to my director and he said no. " I look at my brother in confusion because C.Williams just said we could get a student pass and took my information and DID NOT MAKE ANY PHONE CALLS WHIKE WE STOOD THERE WAITING. With frustration and very disappointed we silently left. I went back to the check point and Calvin Hutchson still insi that they were giving out passes and I explained to him we went twice and it was the same answer. I told him to call the police station because y'all are lacking good communication skills. He called her and she said no they can walk to the back of campus. I parked my car by the check point and help my brother tote all his belong of what we could carry and left the rest in my car. As we walked back to the check point we noticed and I recited Calvin Hutchson let an Uber driver, someone's father and a truck full of faternity men to the back of campus without any passes. I'm beyond livid and very concerned of how they let whomever they want to the back of campus and yet my brother who stays on campus gets a hard tim.

BRCC is a cost-effective way for a student to get some of their core curricula out of the way, and…read moreeither earn an Associates or transfer to a more academic college or university. The classes are generally fairly well taught, and the selection, while limited, is improving. That being said, the administration of the college is atrocious. The financial aid office holds your disbursement for up to 45 days, making it almost impossible to purchase materials for class. You can get a voucher to get your textbooks in the campus bookstore, but it is both poorly stocked and much overpriced. It is almost impossible to get correct information out of any department; asking 3 separate individuals will almost invariably get you 3 different answers, if not 4. I find it very similar to the DMV in this aspect. The IT resources are terrible, with servers regularly inaccessible for important tasks like on-line courses or scheduling. Logging into "Blackboard", one of their on-line educational resources, can take as long as 10 minutes during busy parts of the day; this is much worse during finals or during registration and scheduling. The high quality of some of the teachers and the low cost are the only things that keep me from giving this a single star. As soon as this semester is over I am transferring to a more expensive college, simply because I can't deal with the hassle of the administrative side of BRCC.

I was here for a master's degree, while working full-time, and living in New Orleans, so I didn't really experience much campus-time/life. But it is a beautiful campus. The oak trees are well cared for and are mostly mature since the originals were planted for students lost in World War I. It's actually a pretty competitive school and so while it certainly deserves it's hard partying reputation. Students do have to show up for classes...or that's my understanding anyway.

My LSU days are so fondly remembered....omg! If I knew then what I know now, I might have gotten on that seven year plan to graduation, just to stretch it out a bit. LSU can totally be what you want/need it to be. Wild party times, check. Beautiful campus, check. Awesome Scholarship opportunities, check ( I am forever grateful for that Tuition Exemption Scholarship for Non-Residents...full ride, plus a stipend?). Grinding it out at Middleton, check. Happy hour at Superior before class, check. Sharing that amazing TIger spirit at Fall Fest in the quad, check. Great foundation for later life, check. Amazing professors, check. I still draw on my experience in numerous classes with Wayne Parent and Cecil Eubanks, who challenged me to THINK in so many different ways. Weird to think that I'd even reflect back on those political science classes, esp now that I'm into anesthesia...but that's the beauty of LSU. When I asked for disability accommodations, the process dragged on so long that I never received anything in time. I was left unprotected, unsupported, and ultimately forced to drop out. LSU talks about helping students, but when you actually need protection or timely accommodations, they disappear.

I only stayed a few weeks. The beginning of the second week the teacher of one of my classes…read morestarted changing the Syllabus, and homework assignments everyday. From Adding assignments to throwing out homework. I have never experienced any type of teaching like that. Plus this school pushes you to take out student loans, even when you want Pell Grant and payments of the remaining balance. They were once known as Medvence, and now Fortis. In my opinion, it's a scam. I even talked to some of their Graduates, who even told me that Fortis did not help them with finding a job, or reference from them really meant nothing to employers.
