When I asked for disability accommodations, the process dragged on so long that I never received anything in time. I was left unprotected, unsupported, and ultimately forced to drop out. LSU talks about helping students, but when you actually need protection or timely accommodations, they disappear.

The faculty is caring and goes above and beyond to make sure everything is being done for students to be successful. A rigorous and challenging curriculum with a wide variety of electives. Even though advertised as an academic magnet, they have a performing arts program second to none. Three levels of band and also jazz band. Three levels of choirs and a performance show choir. Thee levels of string orchestra, dance, drama, and piano classes. Also offers athletic programs like swim team, soccer teams, basketball and volleyball teams, and track teams. Students can join one of over 30 clubs to participate in. School is ranked number 1 academically in the district and is one of the top five middle school programs in the state. Sherwood has also gained national recognition being awarded a National Blue Ribbon School. It was recently honored as one of 12 schools nationally as a model school. The school was invited to and accepted an invitation to present to schools from around the country at the national conference on its best practices that have been put in place that make it one of the best programs in the country.

"Swim Instruction At Its Finest". My daughter took swimming lessons here and I have her signed up…read moreto continue lessons again for a month. I was thoroughly impressed with the clockwork operation of this establishment is! Everything is extremely organized. I was able to register my daughter via their website and on the first day check-in was smooth sailing. The check-in process was a breeze for they had excellent signage at their table and we were immediately given instruction on where to stand to meet the instructor. There were photos of the instructors along with their names along the walls, so that was our meeting station each day. It just so happened that my daughter was super excited to start lessons because she had plenty of exposure to the water already. The instructors were prompt in collecting their pupils and on the first day, after the instructors had brought the kids to the pool, the Master Swim Instructor (who is amazing by the way - Nan) gave the parents a briefing of what was gonna go down for the 2 weeks. Not only did she give us the warm and fuzzy feeling that our kids were in great hands, but also laid down the law. So, for anyone considering places for swim instruction, please come here. My daughter did group lessons and they were perfect. She was excited to return each day! Crawfish Aquatics came recommended by many and provided some of the best instruction I have ever seen.

The location is the old site of the GW Carver Primary School which has been relocated to a new site/facilities... Anyway you have to stop into this place once a year to provide residency verification to show your kid is allowed to attend Ascension Parish schools...you'd be surprised at how many people that live out of Ascension Parish try and sneak their kids into Ascension schools... So the staff at RVTO are there to do verification as well as random checks throughout the school years on people suspected of gaming the system...if they catch you I've heard the consequences can be severe... That's pretty much all that can be said for this part of the school system...

TC Matherne found his love for improv at Second City theater in Chicago. This is where many comedy legends have come from (Steve Carrell, Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert, etc.) He took that passion and brought it back to Baton Rouge to share with us. LATCo has been teaching and performing around Baton Rouge since about 2015 and now have a home in Mid-City BR. Don't miss out on the zoom classes during covid! It's been such a good time having a social outlet from home to learn improv and perform shows on Twitch TV. Great people, lots of fun, amazing teachers, don't miss it!
