Man I love this crew. Coming from AZ I know nothing abt trees or grass or bugs for that matter. So, moving out here I got all tree and in abundance. I got a bug guy who pointed out a tree where my carpenter ants were coming from. Then, I made many calls to lawn and tree care. 1 called back wanting 32 bucks just to give me quote and southern tree care called back to ask what time.and day they could come by and check it out. Jeremy and his wonderful family came by and walked my property. I told him what I was looking for. I had just moved in and the house had been neglected so ton of debris, trash left from the pervious owners, and my moving boxes. All had to be taken along with 14 dead Cypress trees and about 5 or so trees trimmed from the home. We get to the front where he points put that one of the 5 huge trees I have is dying. I mean like a doctor Jeremy totally pointed out the tree that my bug guy said had carpenters ants. They quoted me what my husband and I found to be the fairest and the next day his crew came out and did just as I wanted and more. They even cleaned my gutters. One guy came to me and wanted me to know that on 1 tree he didn't take the whole branch because their was a birds nest there. AAAWWWWWWWEEEE. thank you. They get 5 stars from me but I deserve a 1. This move has made me forger my manners and I totally forgot to buy them lunch for their very hard work. Oh and the dead tree, they removed it and about 5-7ft from.the ground up dead! Black.and hollow. So happy I paid to remove that. If there was a bad strom.to come, that tree would do serious damage to either mine or my neighbors house. read more

An amazing tree service company In Clarksville, TN. They did an exceptional job. They did everything I requested and more. Very polite and friendly. They cut down a large tree, some large Crepe Myrtle, trimmed my trees over the driveway, and trimmed trees hanging over the dog fence. Picked everything up, and even took some trash I did not want...amazing customer service. I have found my new shrub trimers, bush trimmers and more. Clearly trying to take advantage of my wife. We called to get a quote to remove a standard sized tree. Half of it came down in a storm. The original quote was $5600. Then once we got our insurance adjusted, then they changed it to $9000!! $9K to cut down a tree!?!? When my wife asked what they could do for $4000, he said "I could cut 4 branches." If I wasn't deployed, this is something I would do myself in an afternoon, but because my wife is the one handling it they feel they can jerk her around and make some money. For reference, Angies List's website quotes the maximum average for Large tree removal at $2000. How can you justify charging $9000 for half a tree? read more

Southern Tree Care is a misnomer. No one at this "business" understands the concept of care, either for trees, or for customers. When things go south, they don't seem to care or take responsibility. When anyone hires someone else to do a job, the universal expectation and understanding is that the contractor is educated enough to make the right decisions for the job. For some reason, Jeremy and his team thought it was appropriate and wise to "top" the silver maple trees on my property. During the job itself, I even expressed concern about the severity of the pruning. He told me all horizontal branches were being removed and that the trees would not need trimming again for 5-7 years. The trees were about 20 years old at that time and had never been trimmed so I thought nothing of it. They were "topped", meaning all green material was removed. At that time I assumed they would grow back into some semblance of the shade trees they had been the next year. Unfortunately, the next year they did not "come back" and consisted of several large dead vertical branches and the leaves were growing directly from the trunk. Naturally, Jeremey is contacted and never returned messages. In April, a written letter is addressed to Jeremy, in which the intent to file a complaint with BBB would be filed if a refund was not issued for the detrimental service, & the removal of the trees, which are now dying as a result of the job. All of a sudden, Jeremy decides to get into contact, but literally states that he "would not be where he is today" in response to the requests. So not only does Jeremy know that he has done shotty work before, he doesn't care! He then tries to deflect responsibility by stating that there are ants on the trees, calling them "infested". Even IF this were true, that information would have been pivotal in the beginning when deciding to move forward with any potential services. The "professional" crew should not have cut the trees if they knew this. The due diligence for assessment of the job falls squarely on the contractor, and to inform the client of any conditions before moving forward. Ever gotten your car fixed? Not only does Jeremy not take responsibility for his mistake, he had the audacity to try and charge another $1000 to remove the trees he butchered! In the Summer, the city forester came by the property on an unrelated matter and commented about how awful the trees looked. Naturally, I wanted to know more. A competitor in the tree trimming business came by and stated outright that silver maples should NOT be topped like that, and that the condition of the trees are most definitely from the topping debacle. Lastly, but certainly not least, a horticulturalist from UT came by and stated, "the carpenter ants did not cause this damage. The ants came second. Carpenter ants are opportunistic and take advantage of a weakened tree. Carpenter ants do not feed on wood, but they do create galleries within rotting wood to build their nest within the tree. Unlike termites, an insect that does eat wood, carpenter ants excavate tiny bits of wood that look like course sawdust. Evidence of a carpenter ant nest within a tree does not indicate the tree is in a state of decline." From any point of view, the fault lays squarely on Southern Tree Care. Whether it be from the improper use of techniques such as "topping", or shirking responsibilities by blaming an insect that does not even behave in ways they claim, the proper thing to do would be to issue a refund and remove the dead trees. The proper thing for you to do, is to hire someone who knows what they are doing in caring for your trees. Do not deal with someone who "wouldn't be where they are" if they were actually honest. When someone tells you who they are, listen. Perhaps going to court will get Jeremy to do the same. read more

We had called another tree service here in Clarksville, besides telling us to cut down trees, not trim them they never showed up. After a couple of Months we got in touch with Southern and Steven Hart came out, we walked the property with us and examined each tree, turns out we just needed to trim back the two trees we were told needed to come down and do some trim work on a few in the backyard. They arrived, did professional work, exceptional cleanup and acted professional as individuals. We are more than pleased with this company and would highly recommend them for your tree work. read more

I found Southern Tree and Lawn Care online. My husband wanted Southern Tree and Lawn Care to Landscape the front yard. During the initial consultation, I didn't know exactly what I wanted and only had somewhat of an idea. Steven was able to take what I communicated to him and create exactly what I envisioned.The crew trimmed the shrubs, removed unwanted dead plants and added new ones, deposited mulch, and created a really nice border. Everyone was professional and seemed excited to get things done. I'm in awe with the beauty of the front of our home. The walkway is lovely. The same thing happened to me as it did to 80beemer.B. In May of 2020, Southern Tree Care said they would remove the tree off my house for whatever the insurance would pay. After the job was done, Southern Tree sent a bill of $9,000.00 to the insurance company. Of course the insurance company would not pay that outrageous amount and gave them a lower amount. Southern Tree Care wanted the whole amount and threaten to put a lien on my house. Since I hadn't signed a contract or anything with them, I contacted my insurance company and told them that Southern Tree Care was going to put a lien on my house. The insurance said if it came to that, they would help me in court. However, my insurance company contacted Southern Tree Care and no lien was put on my house and I did not owe them a dime. I would not recommend this company at all. I didn't appreciate the threat or the outrageous amount they were charging. read more

Caught them in a lie at least 3 different times. They left a lot of trash in my yard. Also, I was refused the Senior Discount--until I informed the owner that I had spoken to the BBB and they said I had legitimate reasons to file a complaint with them if Jeremy continued to be uncooperative with me. I informed owner of this. He 'finally' reimbursed me for the Senior Discount approximately 30 days later. All of my telephone conversations, emails and contacts with different ones in there business were recorded, therefore, they're unable to dispute my claims. read more

They did a great job with laying the sod and planting the trees and they were respectful and helpful in answering our questions. I am very disappointed however, at the fact that I payed for them to air rate my front yard, seed and hay, but they did NOT air rate and still made us pay anyway. Also, beware of how much sod they order for your yard. They overordered quite a bit for ours, a pallet and half, which we payed for but they refused to lay unless we paid an additional $500 for their own mistake. So, their work was good, but they were a little squirrelly. I will recommend them to my neighbors for their good work, but I will warn them about paying for things they don't get. read more

Southern Tree just did a magnificent job for us from start to finish. Erica came out and gave us an on the spot cost. She really knew her stuff. She called to let us know exactly when the crew would be here. The crew came as soon as it stopped raining. I can't say enough about their promptness, courteousness, attention to detail, and overall wonderful job taking down a big tree and trimming up many others. We were so impressed by the way they scrutinized every trim from every angle. They were extremely conscientious of our brick wall while taking down a huge tree and house while trimming others. They left our yard cleaner than when they arrived. They cleaned up everything whether it was from their work or Mother Nature's. I'm very confused, because I see a lot of high ranks for this company. I think maybe I caught them on a bad day, or something. But just in case I didn't, I want to share my experience. We reached out to this company because our neighbor uses it and they seemed to do a good job. We were contacted on a Friday about having them come out and do a free estimate the following day to remove some branches. But no one ever came out. We were contacted again on a Monday by a woman who said she was in the area and could swing over to do the estimate, and then she'd call us that night with the estimate. I explained I was at work, but someone was at home. I didn't receive a call that night, but got one the following morning by a gentleman. I was slightly frustrated already when I picked up because It's now Tuesday and someone's finally getting back to me with a quote. Was even more annoyed because the guy called me by the wrong name, so at first I wasn't even sure he had the right number until he listed my address. He told me the price and the services they provided. I then told him we didn't want all the services, just the trees trimmed. After explaining that's their normal services, he immediately began commenting about my attitude and how he wasted gas to drive to my house and do a free estimate. Which really confused me, because I was told the day before they were in the neighborhood and because free estimates are a service the company offers. It was also strange, because I never even said we didn't want the service. Then I explained to him about how we were supposed to get an estimate on Saturday.
