Knowing my parents were traveling & their options were limited; this place could have easily taken advantage of them. They didn't! Instead, they were compassionate, empathetic, hardworking people who still believe in the old way of treating people how you want to be treated. The next week, my friend had to change her oil and had the supplies to do so. The owner charged over 35 for not an hour of labor, but HALF AN HOUR OF LABOR, and went $20 over the "estimate." Her oil change totaled $56, not including the oil and filter she bought and brought to them before their transaction even began. A business that thinks it's ethical to overcharge an estimate by $20, top off when a person just wants an oil change, and somehow used 15 miles' worth of gas in her tank to change her oil is a place owned by scam artists. These people take advantage of students and their distant parents. Unless it's an emergency, I will not return to this business that insults the integrity of Sewanee; this place does not represent the university by any means. I'm ashamed of our only auto shop and hope most people can get into town, at Monteagle, where they are certainly more trustworthy--you just can't get any worse than Sewanee Auto.
