I am ashamed of Sewanee for tolerating the level and kind of treatment that is performed here. Most of the nursing staff are cold and defensive. Most of the employees are looking at a computer or phone screen when you enter the hospital. It is only after you excuse yourself that someone even seems the least bit concerned with your presence. The first thing that you smell when you enter the hospital is the grease from the fryers in the cafeteria. The only REAL redeeming quality for this place is the Physical/Occupational Therapy Team - they are incredible - squeezed into a tiny area, this team goes beyond expectations for their clients. If the administration at LifePoint really does caare, they'll do something about this place. And they wonder why the local residents in Sewanee don't use it?...maybe they should visit sometime undercover.

I was seen by Southern Tennessee Medical in both Lawrenceburg TN and Pulaski TN. Since I didn't have insurance, I needed to pay up front for my visit. My first visit was in Lawrenceburg, I was given a document that stated my bill was paid in full. I was told, just in case I was contacted about additional fees. No additional calls or collection attempts were made from this location. My second visit to Southern Tennessee in Pulaski (Ortho), I was asked to pay for my visit prior to seeing anyone since I did not have insurance. I am now being contacted for additional payment and turned over to a collection agency since I have been disputing a balance owed. I was informed today that the amount I paid was not the correct amount at the time of the office visit. This is leading me to believe Southern Tennessee is doing this quite frequently. Anyone else have this same experience?

This is concerning to me as a breast cancer survivor not only for myself but for any woman walking into that facility. It is pertinent to our care that all information be facilitated correctly and promptly. You can not shut down administration and the flow of information to install new equipment and simply choose to not return any voicemails left. My health is certainly worth more to me than to leave it in the hands of a facility that can not make a safe and certain decision on the exchange of information and when and how to exchange this information. I would urge anyone to think twice before entrusting their care to a facility enveloped in confusion.
