He scored well on his end of year school competency exam (4 out of 5). He started back again a few months into 9th grade for another 8 months for his 9th grade year for help for algebra 2. He pulled his grade up from a F to a C in the fall term and B in spring term. He's set to go back before school starts during the first week in August before his 10th grade year. He'll take geometry. We'll see how it goes this year. The major con is it's extremely expensive! I would deduct a start off for the cost. It caters to a certain socioeconomic background. However, Shannon, the director/owner, and her team are fantastic. They really do care and regularly give updates on your child. My son was angry and irritable each time he went early on. They stayed calm, and worked with him. His demeanor has changed over the years. He knows it helps him and he can do the math now. He's not a straight A student. But it was heartbreaking seeing him panic, fail and call himself dumb. The methods to tackle math various concepts worked well for him. The approach they use is tackling it with straightforward math methods. Not like the wacky problem solving methods and flipped classroom/self taught methods many teachers use these days. My son responds to the one-on-one and feedback and when someone teaches him. He shuts down if it's a video and he has to self/teach math to himself. It's been exciting to see his confidence grow and ability to even help his peers. I'd give 4.5 given high cost. But alas we can't in Yelp so 5 it is

If you take student safety as a priority it's a NO…read more Nice looking school with affordable tuition but what you save in money is not worth the trouble. My daughter's safety was in jeopardy by an unruly roommate that had no respect for herself let alone the other roommates. My daughter told her RA and the Residence Office that guys were coming into the room at all hours of the night "expecting to get some". In addition, this roommate would lash out both verbally and physically (on video no less and yes the school is aware) and the school did NOTHING about it. When my daughter asked to switch rooms, they made her go through hell and back and guilted her for not problem solving herself. They upset her so badly that she was visibly upset and her other roommate had to come to the office to get her to calm her down. She finished out the semester and transferred out. Not only did I file a Title IX sexual harassment report that they buried but they also put a sanction on her so that she couldn't transfer easily to another dorming college. This school is not free. I paid tuition for my daughter to be harassed by her roommate and then her school. Shame on you UTampa. No wonder the retention rate is so awful. For those parents that worry about their children away at school, this is not the school for your kid.

It was quite an event and a memory that I draw on when ever I'm back to visit this beautiful city. I have several friends who graduated from this prestigious college. I moved to Florida by my junior year and completed my Junior and soon will finish my Senior year here and I'm glad I became an Indian (our mascot). The school atmosphere is amazing and if your child comes here with the determination and grit to do better and get their education, that's what will happen. East Bay seems to be notorious for fights and various altercations, however it's only a small few handful of individuals that cause such chaos. East Bay has deputies on campus for our safety, wholesome lunches, caring and attentive teachers/staff and even more so, fabulous academic connections. I've been able to apply for various scholarships throughout Hillsborough County and there are also scholarships given SPECIFICALLY for East Bay students only. How amazing is that!? The principal Mrs. Cox knows about every single student by name, she's caring and wants the best for her students and staff. Cox has also done a scholarship workshop which has also helped me and various other students with scholarship applications and taught us how to "sell ourselves" in order to earn the money. The assistant principals (AP's) like Mrs. Garcia, Mrs. Cummings, Mr. Gunn and even Mr. Williams are extremely attentive and caring, making sure all students are doing what their supposed to do and making sure their in class. I haven't played a sport at this school, but I have heard great things about football and other sports as well. I've even seen one of my classmates have a signing and going to the school of his dreams for doing what he loves! If you're moving from somewhere or want to transfer your child to a new school, East Bay High School is the place to do so!
