Can I be okay with this branch of this money sucking entity? Yes. I truly have to keep in mind…read morewhat environment this location is in. I am used to quite sterile bank personnel, but being that this is New Orleans, people in there are smiling and taking it easy! Good customer service aside, the people inside makes sure they get the people in the lobby moving through quite quickly so they can get to their personal task at hand. You rarely see 2 atms side by side so close, but that is the type of place you are at when you come here. This place is friendly and convenient...even though they work for an evil, evil sort!

Get your cash, give your cash, or borrow some cash all in one convenient west bank location…read more Can you be sentimental about a bank branch? I can. This Chase is the branch I've been coming to since before I could drive. I got my very first car loan here. Deposited my very first paycheck here too. Ah the memories. Enough of that garbage, on to the review. This Chase is somewhat unique. The tellers are located upstairs and the drive thru area is underneath the bank. It's kind of like being in a tunnel when you use the drive-thru. There's also a more traditional drive-thru, but for me, I dig the tunnel. The upstairs area is where you go if you need more extensive help, to get a loan, medallion signature, etc. I still remember my excitement sitting there with my dad as the loan officer handed over that check for my first car purchase. Looking back I wish my car note now was only $125 a month like that loan. In addition to the areas I just listed, there are several ATMs on site and most of my experiences lately have been those machines. They are located around back and there are two actual drive up ATMs. The area is free from debris, well lit and seems pretty safe. I'd avoid visiting them at night as they're set back a bit from the road and a robbery could occur without traffic seeing you, but visiting any ATM during dark is more dangerous than daytime. If you're in Algiers and need a Chase Bank, come here.

Whitney as of this writing still has not figured out how to install ID chips in debit cards…read more Everybody looks at me like, Where's your chip? I'm like, Sorry, I bank at Whitney. I know I look like a hip, savvy urban warrior, but inside I'm in love with 1992 banking. Every now and then the geniuses there who did not bring you chips in debit cards until two years after everybody else will send you an email. I got one this morning. It basically says they've figured out a new way to lock yourself.... I mean identity thieves... out of your own account. Log in and do some shit (the instructions are characteristically vague) before April 22. If you don't, experience teaches me, you'll spend an hour going around the mountain with their tech support trying to unlock your account. Anyway I hate them. All that aside, it's a neighborhood bank, the brick and mortar people are nice enough. The online app has been redesigned to be helpful instead of a financial version of Candy Crush, and they've raised the amount you can deposit digitally to a level that's actually useful for people who do not work at The Dollar Store. So it's not all bad.

I've been banking with "The Whitney" since I got my first checking account. Since the merger with…read moreHancock, the service is still excellent- I don't plan to leave unless things change for the worse. So far, so good. The merger hasn't changed its standing as a New Orleans institution. The nature of my work has me on the road a lot, so I've dropped in on virtually every branch in the metro area. Service is pretty consistent at all the branches, but this one really stands out. Here's why: about six months ago, I went in for some advice on an IRA. I wasn't happy with the performance of the existing one, so I was contemplating a change. I dealt with a banker named Sara Diaz, who was very friendly and helpful- she steered me in the right direction. She referred me to a financial consultant named Ronald Barreca, who met with me on two separate occasions and went over everything with a fine-toothed comb, patiently answering all questions. I'd highly recommend both of them. Get this: Today, I went into the lobby to take care of some routine business. I was standing at the desk, filling out a form with my head down and Sara Diaz walks over to me, says "Hi Scott! How have you been?" and proceeds to have a conversation with me like we're old friends. I met her ONE TIME, six months ago. Here I stood in the middle of a major metropolitan area during the cold age of technology, getting the kind of service I imagine happened in small towns in the 1950's. That's "The Whitney-" 5 stars.
