We had no choice for bowling as this is the one and only in bowling green so we went for a good time. Staff is unwelcoming, rude, no eye contact, just money takers. The lane we had, 28, glitched often. Said I had a strike multiple times when I never did. Glad we were only playing each other for kicks and giggles or I'd have been highly irritated. Got a pitcher of beer which had zero complaints but the bar tender watching the game and serving no one seemed irritated at our mere presence. Then to top off the fact that he had to change a tap was almost head explosion. Would only come back bc it's the only alley in BG but it made me seriously question opening my own bowling alley in BG bc I know I could do better than this place. read more

Person at the desk was rude and actually ignored us when we said we wanted to pay for bowling. Never looked up from his newspaper. Asked if there was a ATM so that it maybe we could get the cash and he rudely informed us that it's just over there if you take a look. I am not native to the area, but my mom and I love arcades and bowling. I traveled a couple hours to come visit my mom and we decided to spend time together here and purchase wrist bands for the unlimited bowling and laser tag. I try not to be harsh when I write reviews, but this was single-handedly the worst bowling/arcade experience I've ever had. When we arrived it appeared to be very spacious with a lot to do. The lanes looked nice and we were excited to try them out. The facility itself is very nice, complete with a plethora of bowling lanes, an arcade, laser tag, a party room, and a bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Unfortunately, the issues began pretty quickly after our arrival. Checking in up front was kind of awkward because one of the workers had his face planted directly into the front desk, while the other two employees behind him carried on a conversation with each other while we waited. Eventually we were checked in and given wrist bands. We began with bowling. It was going fine, but our lane began having issues. Our balls repeatedly got stuck, pins would not set up correctly, and the monitoring system was not accurate in calculating our scores. To be fair, one worker did come and fix it every time we asked, but it kind of takes away from the experience to have to stop the game 5+ times due to these issues. In the middle of bowling the electricity in the building went out ...awkward lol. We waited about 20 minutes for power to come back on and were unable to bowl or participate in any other activity during this. We waited patiently for the power to come back on, but were told once the power came back on that laser tag would not "boot up" or whatever and that we wouldn't be able to play at all. I get that stuff happens, but we were really looking forward to laser tag and I feel that it should've been made up to customers somehow since that's part of the reason we visited. We eventually tried the food. We had deep fried Oreos, fried pickles, and fried mushrooms. The Oreos and pickles were very good, but our mushrooms were still cold in the middle from not cooking long enough. I played a few of the arcade games and had fun with that. We liked the photo booth as well. I should also mention that the snack bar staff was much more sociable and polite than the front desk staff and we appreciated that. Like I said, the facility is very spacious and nice. There is a LOT of room for potential, but I understand why it was so dead now when we walked in on a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, service and maintenance is just not where it needs to be to serve the public as a decent bowling/arcade facility. read more

Kid got smart with me at the counter while I was asking for pool balls. They lead me on a run around, the first counter at the food stand lead me to the back counter in the arcade. They kid got angry when I asked for balls and I said, "Okay, I heard you." the manager, I think, a small man with a short beard and long hair came over to me and my group and accused me of being rude and attempted to intimidate me and made sure to emphasize that the kid at the counter was his son. Didn't even respond, just gave him a thumbs up and he walked away. Another employee walked up behind me with a toy gun pointed at my head and this same employee also was being really weird with the young girls in my group while they were trying to play games. With the exception of the staff at the bowling counter they were all rude, or lacked personal space. needless to say I won't be back here. read more

This place is jank. The lanes have errors often. Putting down pins with some missing, over and over or just getting stuck. The house balls are junky, full of chips holes and cracks. Many of the machines in the arcade are broken in various ways. The times we've had the party room - they say they'll send a host. Maybe. If they feel like it I guess. They'll say they'll bring your pizzas. But they won't. You'll finally go looking for them and find them cold sitting someplace. Everything has a run down feel. Broken lights. Broken furnishings. Had fun with our teenagers - bowled two games, played some arcade games, a couple rounds in the batting cage and did laser tag. It's bowling, they have beer, they have gross greasy food, what more could you want? Definitely shoot for the specials to save some cash, especially where beer is concerned. Pitcher options are the run-of-the-mill Shock Top, Bud Light, etc., at around $7. Lanes look a little worn, but I think the clientele doesn't mind because they are there to socialize. There system too make a list is ridiculous. They said they would write our name down for the 1hour long wait, and then we waited about a hour and a half and turns out they never wrote our name down. Furious because they told us about 3 times that they would make sure it's written down and it never was, plus the worker smelled like weed(skinny white guy with tattoo) which is probably is the reason why our name did not make the list. We had already paid for our shoes too and they refused too give us a refund. The only good thing about this place was the nachos at the concession stand. SMH this place sucks! read more

This place looks family-friendly, featuring over 30 lanes, arcade, laser tag, mini golf, batting cage, and bumper cars. And when the place is empty it is. But the people who frequent this place are anything but. They play hard metal music on the jukebox and vapers fill the air and stink up the place. There were more tattoos on display than at a welfare office. Not a good place to go if you or your children have sensory issues due to the loud, annoying music and the vapers. Visited this place for family fun night. The children in my family wanted to play laser tag. During laser tag there were a couple teenage boys who decided to light up cigarettes in the laser tag room. I know this is not the establishments fault. However, the door to the laser tag room was locked and there were no employees to be found. We literally couldn't get our children out of this locked room where anything could be happening. We brought this to the manager's/owner's (not sure who he was) attention. What if an accident were to happen? A medical emergency or fire or anything at all. He proceeded to belittle us and tell us that we couldn't worry about such things and even said he could shoot anyone of us right now and there isn't anything we could do to prevent it. We went here for a Halloween party last night. At first all was fine, the kids were bowling and then they decide to go play laser tag. So they went with another parent and my friend and I stayed with her baby and chatted. Our friends older daughter came to us concerned that someone was smoking in the laser tag room and she was uncomfortable in there. So I went to check out the situation and I spoke to one of the workers and they didn't seem to care. I went to go in to the laser tag room and found that the door was locked. That made me even more concerned and confused as to why they would do that. We feared if something happened and children were locked in the room with a shooter or some sort of predators tot even a fire, they wouldn't be able to get out. So we decide to speak to the owner like any other normal parent would do with a concern as this. My friend spoke to him and this was her encounter. " I told him I was concerned with the kids being locked in the room without and attendant in there to let them out with all the shootings a such going on, and that I felt like there should be someone close to let the kids out should something happen." "He called me a "f$&king smart Alec and said if that want a concern he could shoot me right then and there." She walked away for the situation and preceded to leave as he followed her through the building persistently telling her she was going the wrong way to exit. I feel like this was completely uncalled for and he was totally out of line. He was incredibly rude, unprofessional and condescending to say the least. It's just ridiculous that this man is the owner of a well known business and can't respect a paying costumers concerns about her children's safety. We thought we'd take our 2 and 4 year olds on a rainy weekday morning to play miniature golf. It would be my golf-enthusiast-son's first time playing. The unfriendly, half-asleep staff pointed us in the right direction. The platforms that the miniature course was built on were literally falling apart. Broken pieces rocked when you walked on them. We ventured on the course that we thought was 18 holes. We played holes 1, 2, 3, then 11, because there weren't any holes 4-10. Very disappointing. Next we wanted to try the bumper cars. After 10 minutes of trying to find someone to help us, a new unfriendly person started the cars for us. We bought passes thinking that our kids would be able to ride with us, but she informed us that they didn't have any cars for 2 people. Bummer. On to the batting cages. We bought 2 tokens. One for my husband and one for my son. My husband got 2 pitches and the machine stopped working. Then we asked if the pitch speed could be adjusted for my 4 year old and the reply was, "Robert's not here." Hmmmm. Can't play baseball either, I guess. We walked into a room with 8 or so disgusting dis-repaired pool tables. We put quarters in an air hockey machine and found an old band-aid near the slot. The manager posted at least 2 very demeaning notes for his employees that were visible to the public. No wonder they hate their jobs. My favorite quote...my husband said to the employee, "This place has a little bit of everything!" She replied, "Unfortunately." I bathed my kids in hand sanitizer and left! read more

I wish that I could rate this place lower. For starters the workers were very disrespectful and seemed as their didn't want to be here. Second of all the bowling balls were very greasy. Thirdly a single game of pool cost me three dollars. Fourly while we were enjoying ourselves at the mini golf course they turned the music up extremely loud and it was hard to hear each other, so we raised our voices, and the staffers told us in a very rude manner and I quote,"there is a league going on so you need to be quiet!" The worst part of it all is that the staff tried to steal my bois' phone. Me and my family will never be returning to this terrible place. I am extremely disappointed with the party package we paid for our son's birthday party. I met with an employee the day prior to make sure things would go smoothly. When are guests arrived, the bowling lanes were not ready for the kids to bowl. I talked with the employee about reserving the two end lanes and was assured that it would be ready. The lanes were occupied by others. The employee informed me that she was not sure why the lanes were not ready and will get back to us when two lanes opened. While waiting the kids played games. The employee told us that the manager left with the token cards locked in the office and she had no access. One card was being accessed, the only card given. We went from game to game using one card. Parents of my child's friend's started purchasing tokens to use because it was taking so long to use one card for each kid. These were guests we invited and did not expect for our guests to pay. After 30 minutes with our guests arrival, bowling lanes were still not available. The kids bowled for short period of time. We placed an order for food and drinks. The employee did not have our food ready at the time she said. Drinks were missing and I told her that we were missing some drinks. She did not come back with the drinks. After eating the plan was to play laser tag. My child and his friends did not get to play at the same time because other children had entered and I was informed there was a limit. I was told that we would have to wait once again. Also, meeting with the employee prior to the day of the party I was informed that they would have additional time with laser tag than 10 minutes. I am a very organized and a detailed planner. The employee also told me that because things were not going as to plan that we would have additional time. However, we did not and our party ended at the scheduled time. I am very displeased with the employee's lack of effort to assist along with them not being friendly. I am not a person to complain. Other parents at our party commented how poor the service was. I apologized to our guests. I am aware some of the children at the party have upcoming birthdays and they said after this experience they would never book a party a Southern Lanes. One parent informed me that she received poor unfriendly service. I am not pleased with services and if staff provide misinformation about party package, Southern Lanes should be responsible with making sure that this situation is properly handled. I would not recommend Southern Lanes for a Birthday Party. The party was extremely stressful not only with not having our party ready but also trying to find the employee constantly to assist. read more
