Giordano is one of the best of the bunch, as they have all the cheese you'd ever want...and I want a lot of cheese. I want the funky bleu, the creamy brie, the sharpest cheddar you can find, the chevre, whatever you can find from a sheep, certainly including manchego, and all the olives they have in stock too. I want the cheeses with fun additions like truffles and pepper and meat and I also want the meat that hasn't been added to the cheese, because meat is good on its own too. All that said, the last time I came in I felt like I was bothering the staff there. I got curt, annoyed answers when I was curious about a cheese I wasn't familiar with, and we ended up leaving with about 25% of the amount of cheese I wanted to buy just because it's not fun to put together a cheese plate with people who aren't trying to help you. I hope it was an off day, because I'll be back again soon. After all, I have a cheese problem.

Though it was almost empty on a Thursday morning it was difficult to get to the cheese display because the only two patrons were pretty much sitting in the aisle gabbing with one of the workers. We had to squeeze around them since they weren't moving. Once at the cheese counter the smallish selection of cheeses were unmarked so we needed to quiz the burly guy manning the counter. He was gruff and almost rude in his attitude. Almost unhelpful. It is lucky we bought anything at all. If you wanted your purchase wrapped in cheese paper vs. plastic they charged another $1.75. Really? Definitely not the positive experiences we remembered from the past. Very Disappointing!

There's typically 2 per person with catering, or just more than you need. There seemed to be a lot of the mini chicken tacos, so it may be dependent on what items you order. There seemed to be more caprese skewers, too, so when you order, that would be a good question to ask. The food was good, so we'd use them again. We'd just order more next time, lol. I easily could have eaten 2 of the deviled eggs... or 10.

A classic with their ad for the "World's Best Pastrami Sandwich". Note that it's in the indoor part of the market, towards the back by the fishmonger. So, I had a pastrami sandwich at 10:05 AM (it becomes available at 10AM). The pastrami had a really nice high-fat melty texture, with a pleasantly subtle flavor. Bread was a bit too soft, but that's not the point---it's a reasonably solid pastrami sandwich, and a lot cheaper than the better ones in NYC. Pickle was also decent, and actually a proper dill pickle as opposed to the sweet stuff sold elsewhere at the market. I'd go again if I felt like eating meat too early in the day. First time I bought some smoked duck from the fridge case to have at home, it was quite good.

Zweigles ships and it's wonderful and they also sometimes send fun hats along so you can look dope while you grill in your apartment courtyard. It was a pastry that I was after and Flour City answered my call. There were a selection of pastries and pretzels in the case and loaves of bread neatly displayed on shelves against the wall. A pistachio chocolate croissant caught my eye and my dad got a soft pretzel. The cashier was very friendly and answered my chocolate snob questions, ensuring that I was not going to get milk chocolate or a sugary chocolate spread in my croissant. Not only was my croissant made with semisweet chocolate and a nutty not too sugary pistachio spread, but it was also flaky and buttery as a croissant should be AND I was given a warm out of the oven one rather than one from the case. Sorry, no pic and I devoured it lickety split; but, I did take a breath to offer my dad a taste. What a delectable treat it was! My dad enjoyed his soft pretzel.
