Outstanding Emergency Service and Quick Response!…read more We had an unexpected HVAC emergency on a Sunday morning and needed help before the problem caused further damage. Our neighbor alerted us that our outdoor HVAC unit was making a loud noise while the fan was running. When we investigated, it appeared that a snake had become caught in the unit (see photos). We first contacted the HVAC company where we have a maintenance plan, but they couldn't send a technician until Monday afternoon. Since we were concerned about the potential for further damage, we wanted the problem addressed as soon as possible. Based on recommendations from friends and neighbors, we called Family Air Conditioning & Heating around 9:30 a.m. Someone answered promptly and was able to dispatch a technician that same morning. We were given an arrival window of 9:30-11:30 a.m. and received a text confirmation along with a photo and background information about our technician, Ricky. Even better, Ricky arrived within 30 minutes of our call! Ricky was knowledgeable, thorough, and professional. He explained what he was doing throughout the process. After removing the snake's head from the top of the HVAC unit, he thoroughly cleaned the fan blades and vacuumed the bottom of the unit, where the remaining parts of the snake's body were located. He also checked for potential electrical damage. We were extremely pleased with Family Air Conditioning & Heating's responsiveness, especially on a Sunday, and the quality of the technical service we received on such short notice. When you're dealing with an unexpected problem and are concerned about possible damage to an expensive piece of equipment, having someone respond quickly and take the time to do the job thoroughly makes all the difference. After one and a half hours, I called back to let them know I did not need their service. My neighbor was able to help me the following morning. I get a text at 10:30 PM Saturday evening, saying my technician had arrived. I was not home and I quickly texted back saying I had canceled the service call. I had a contract with them to check on my system every six months. Well, they never checked anything of importance since the Freon was extremely low, and there was a buildup of bacterial gunk that was never cleaned out. I have canceled my contract with them and want to warn other customers to make sure they do their job since they did not do that for me.

My neighbor recommended AMA. Andy from AMA came over and assessed the situation and recommended Trane units. (I was replacing 2). The cost was less than the original company quoted for inadequate units. The bad news is the original people refused refunding the $8,000 down payment. Sounds like time for Judge Judy. The best news is the new units are great. The tech Chris, came over to tweak the settings to our liking.
