Really charming store that is much larger inside than it would appear from the street. They had a…read moregreat sale room in the back (Yay early Christmas shopping). They have a great selection of home decorator items (think wedding presents) and jewelry and loved the showcase of local art. The staff was great and helpful without being pushy. The store is full of merchandise but really well laid out so there's tons to look at. Be aware if you're on a Saturday jaunt like I was, that they close at 2pm

After eating, we…read moreshopped at Neat and then went across the street to Chic Chateau with my bag from Neat in hand. As we entered Chic Chateau, I saw a young woman smiling behind the counter as she talked with an older woman shopper. There was no one else visible in the store. Just as we opened the door, the woman looked at us, dropped her smile, then stared with a blank expression for a second or two. Her reaction to me caught me off guard as I waited for "welcome" or "hello, let me know if you need any help". Acknowledgement of our presence was non-existent. (I noticed her smile because she and possibly the customer were not wearing a mask. (This is no issue for me because I dislike masks as well.) She turned back to the woman she was speaking with but their conversation became hushed. I immediately mentioned the awkwardness of the moment to my friend. When we rounded the shelf and made visible contact with them again, both had put on their masks. I noticed the older lady seemed uncomfortable by her body language. I sat down on an interesting chair near the counter and as the older lady left, she turned away from me as she walked briskly kind of looking at me out of the corner of her eye. She appeared to be avoiding eye contact and seemed like I said, "uncomfortable". At some point, I attempted to get noticed by commenting on a product on the shelf. I mentioned that I was not familiar with a particular brand of which she had several different items of on that shelf. Crickets! That was her chance to sell me but I was ignored. The only time anything was said to me was when I commented on a unique chair near the counter while sitting on it. The young woman behind the counter said something like "yes, the kids love it." That was it. No offer of help. No asking if I had a question about something in the store. I found this odd since I had commented earlier about an item, browsed the store, and paused to examine a few things. It's as if she did not expect me to buy anything so what was the point of trying. Moments later, a man in a blue button down shirt entered from the back of the store. He didn't say anything to the young woman but they made eye contact as he began observing us. Remember we are the only customers in the store. It's completely quiet and Ashley is ignoring us now doing busy work. If I'm not mistaken, a second man in a blue button down shirt entered from the back. They didn't say anything to us. They just followed us with their eyes but attempting not to be. It was a strange moment. I was ready to go at this point and when I yelled to my friend that I was ready to leave, she was already at the door. I messaged Chic Chateau Wednesday 12/23 morning on Facebook asking to speak with the owner about the incident that had happened the previous day. I received a response informing me that I was speaking with the owner and that they were in the store the previous day when the incident occurred. The person did not provide me with their name. Almost immediately after my initial message to Chic Chateau, I thought to check the about section on their Facebook page for the owner(s). I saw Debbie Terracina Webre and Ashley Webre listed as the owners. My following two replies to Ashley requested a phone conversation with her or her mother stating that text was not the appropriate method of communicating for this sensitive issue. I'm paraphrasing myself here. Ashley has read both messages but has not responded. When I went back to the Chic Chateau Facebook page's about section, the names of the owners were removed that had been there earlier Wednesday morning. It was my desire to handle this privately and hoped to get Chic Chateau's attention to give them the opportunity to hear my concerns. A message saying they would get back with me after the holidays would have sufficed. There is evidently something going on here where some customers are greeted with smiles and others with frowns. Why?

One day the Pirate says: I'm tired of all this bargain basement, thrift store, upcycled, found on the side of the road crap we have. (maybe he didn't say bargain basement or upcycled, but he was wearing an eye patch....no that's not true....maybe drinking whiskey at 9am? Yep definitely true) I saw a review for this place and popped in one day.......Ohhhhhh.......Ohhhhhhh....... yep I was in furniture store love. It's not cheap, nor is the quality. So the Pirate is tired huh....Well I'm going to get exactly what I want then. Our affair started with several trips to view a davenport, that's what my MamaToo called hers. It needed to double as a sofa and comfortable bed for guests visiting. Davenports tend to have boxy cushions that can be removed revealing a day bed sorta thingy. I went maybe three times over several weeks. It was an investment afterall. Katie was there from the beginning to help, no pressure...take my time...she'd send pricing quotes for different configurations and pictures, did i need a swatch sample? I gave my orange retro couch the old heave ho and passed it on to a herb smoking musician and have never looked back. Next came the side table a few months later Then they had a warehouse sale and we bought a sideboard ( Ohhhhh I love that piece) then another side table for whiskey for the pirate.... a few small gifts for friends over the years from their in-store selection and various pop up shops they host. Katie was my gal.....who put up with my thoughts and hesitation to invest.... never any pressure Then I bought a new dresser (I dragged my old one onto the side of the road, helping a man load it into his truck....hey...why I am loading it.....) and then I bought a slim book case that I had been eyeing for months was snagged at their showroom sale. Of course I needed the nightstand match now....so I bought that. and then one day i looked around and I was finished...no more to buy....no more...nope.... Over the last 3 years I have loved everyone and my darling Katie..... AND then my gal hooked me up for a VIP sale..... probably the best deals ever and since dear Angelique needed a desk, I picked up a desk top and a single chair......and a market umbrella for future festivals and what not. The Pirate doesn't complain anymore, but he still drinks Whiskey at 9am. He is happy with my choices and considers this mid century modern look his now......I need a bigger house or a new studio...sigh tell them CrazyRe' sent you

They didn't have tons of gift items when I was there. But they did have some pretty amazing modern house decor. As befits a store selling modern furnishings everything was clean and well laid out. The store was easy to move around in and everything was clearly marked. The staff seemed to be in a meeting when I arrived (30 minutes before closing) but a salesperson did offer to help me and the one other customer in the store. She checked back in with me while I browsed but was definitely not pushy. I really want/need the copper chair they had on display...but first I'd have to figure out where to put it.
