On September 12th, my husband and I went to Southern Agriculture to set an appointment for our beloved cat to get neutered. We had heard good things about their sterilization clinic and looked forward to working with trustworthy people, so much so that we paid our bill fully in advance.
Unfortunately, we did not get the experience we deserved. While we expected kindness, compassion, and a willingness to calm our fears from the person performing the procedure, we were met with impertinence, tactless remarks, and churlish behavior.
My husband and I are not typically worriers, but when it comes to our pets our nervousness can tend to prove overwhelming. We want to protect them as much as possible, as they are impuissant. On September 27th, my husband was dropping our cat off for his appointment and a worker from the front cashier could sense my husbands nerves. She told him he could call and check up on him at any point during the day. I thank this lady for being kind and trying to help us in our anxiety.
We took the advice of the cashier and called around 11:30 AM, wanting to see if there were any updates on how he was doing. The worker who answered the phone was incredibly callous. She informed us that he would not be done until 3:30, as that was pickup time. We explained we were told it might be sooner than that and that we just wanted to check the possibility out. She said. "Okay," and promptly hung up the phone.
My husband was picking our cat up from his appointment later that day. I, being a bit of a worrier, gave my husband a list of questions to ask. One question particularly was about whether or not pain medicine would be supplied, and if it was necessary to get some for him if not. While in the middle of his sentence, Dr. R. Johnson (her name was not given, I have only obtained her name through her signature) interrupted him mid sentence, rudely snapping that he was a cat and cats do not need medicine. My husband was taken aback, but decided to look past the one comment and explained that he wasn't aware, as he knows dogs sometimes get medicine. Again being cut off, R. Johnson insolently declared, "is he a dog?! No, he's a cat! Cats don't get medicine, medicine messes cats up!!" Anytime my husband started to ask a question, she instantly interrupted him and told him it would be on the paperwork. This happened at least three times. My husband signed the papers per her demands and hurriedly took our cat home.
Today was sadly a day of disquietude for my husband and I. If she was willing to speak to us, paying customers, this way, how is she treating innocent animals behind closed doors? It is as the point that we do not trust that our cat was treated kindly and that is completely unjustifiable. Dr. R. Johnson herself has made it to where I would go out of my way to ensure people do not use this service. read more
