We plan on using them again for another of our locations. They were able to move stuff that we were unable to and put it all back correctly. We chose them as their written estimate was complete and they had proof of insurance. Southend just finished painting the entire interior of our home a did a little popcorn ceiling removal. We are very impressed. They were here on time everyday and took pride in their work. They also stayed a bit late one day so that our new kitchen appliances could be delivered the next day without wet paint being an issue. I was pretty surprised to see so many poor reviews here. The crew that South End sent was extensive and they completed the job so much faster than I would have ever expected. They even went above and beyond when I asked them to touch up the moldings. Before hiring South End I received a couple of other quotes from other companies which came in MUCH higher than what South End quoted. I was weary when I saw how much the difference in price was because of the old saying "you get what you pay for". I recently hired Southend from out of state to paint the exterior of one my properties. The property was built in 1978 and has not had a touch up/update since. Therefore I was nervous about hiring a company from out of state. Not to mention there was a lot of wood work and chimney repairs that needed to be done. Southend did an amazing job, I asked them to restore the exterior of the property and bring it back to life and they did just that. Good quality work, professional and on time. I'm a residential and commercial building contractor and deal with numerous tradesmen on a daily basis. In this instance, I was working out of state on one of my projects and needed the interior of my own home painted. As a contractor, I try to monitor all my jobs personally so I know the job gets completed correctly and expeditiously. I was pleased with the job the SouthEnd crew completed. We had 2300sf of popcorn ceiling removed, a considerable amount of drywall seams repaired and the whole inside of the house painted - ceilings, walls, doors and trim. Southend's quote was close to or better than the other quotes we'd gotten, so we chose them based on the good work they'd done for our church in the past. Overall, they did a good job. I did as much prep as possible (removed electrical plates, towel rods, curtain rods, etc), and they removed the door knobs. Their masking was okay, but not perfect - to be expected and easily remedied. As is always the case, there was some follow-ups - which they were very good about coming back to address. I would suggest being very clear up front about what is expected (light fixtures removed, shelves painted, spackling repairs to be made, etc, etc). Then take your time and be thorough in doing a walk-thru before they leave to minimize any call-backs. I definitely recommend them. read more

Don't hire this company before you read all the complaint reviews from multiple online resources, e.g., Google, Angie's List, Yelp, BBB, etc. You just can't make this stuff up! An "A" rating on Angie's List does not guarantee your satisfaction for your particular project! Their Company website is slick and tells you what you want to hear, but their follow-up, performance and quality workmanship didn't measure up to my expectations for a professional, friendly and quality workmanship customer job completion. The work contract estimate was professionally done, however, the written contract seemed to be a little heavy handed on the customer penalties and extreme legal wording to me, but that's where the professional business conduct took a turn for the worse. I contracted for a full residential house exterior paint job and needed carpentry repairs to the siding and trim as requested. I was extremely dissatisfied with the execution of the quality of the work performed and the untimeliness of the project completion. The level of unprofessional conduct and business practices were horrendous. The company went through three (3) different paint/carpentry work crews and often did not arrive at the time promised or much later in the day if at all. They continually had crew labor availability issues. They often were unprepared with the necessary work materials and/or tools, especially needed carpentry items, e.g., replacement composite trim boards, exterior nails, saw horses, miter or table saw, enough drop clothes, exterior primer paint. Minimal English speaking paint crew leader and workers represented a language barrier throughout the project and resulted in many of the problems. I found myself continuously needing to be onsite to co- manage the project to ensure the written contract and the onsite contract change-order-modifications were accomplished properly. Much of the painting prep and missed work items were performed with sub-par workmanship and repeatedly had to be pointed out for re-work. The owner of the company was overly involved in the day-to-day detailed operations delaying much of the work due to inefficient management planning. Some work delays were caused by inclement weather, but most of the significant work stoppage delays were caused by poor planning and crew labor availability. The onsite work supervisor became the owner of the company (President) or the father (VP-officer) to try to keep the project on track and moving forward. This was due to the lack of available professional sub-contracted paint crew help with a fluent English speaking work leader. The project, which initially contracted to take four (4) men per day about one week to complete, actually ended up taking nearly 30 days to complete (9/16/2016 to 10/18/2016) including a few included inclement weather days. Most of the other available days and or Saturdays where the weather was fine, the company management (owner) chose to work other projects, further delaying my exterior painting project completion. The scheduled company & customer "Work Completion Walk-Through Inspection" and subsequent "Touch-Up" ended up taking two (2) WEEKS to complete the amount of outstanding shoddily work done or missed. Even after repeated promises that all the identified open issues would be resolved satisfactorily. If you don't mind belligerent company management and customer self-performing 100% quality work inspections to correct sub-par workmanship issues, than this company might be right for your project. I can honestly state , I totally regret hiring this company and sincerely don't recommend them to anyone for professional, timely or quality workmanship for their exterior home painting and repair project. This complaint, however percentage wise small compared to their "A" rating on Angie's List, should be a red-flag to any perspective customer to do their due diligence for reputation investigation well before hiring this under performing company. I eventually did finalize my contract with them and pay them under pure frustration and utter amazement that their company services provided some customer satisfaction, but immense stress and lack of customer respect. Drips, drips, drips! A 5-year old could have done a better job! Southend came highly recommend. What a disappointment. Communication is very poor. No thought or consideration as to what the customer wants, no respect for their property. White paint all over my lawn. Paint finish on the baseboards is rough with lots of drips. Didn't properly fill and sand nail holes. All baseboards need to be sanded and repainted. no pride in the quality of work still cleaning paint off my hardwoods. Now I have to go back and sand down their work and start over. What a waste. read more

Southend did a really good job with painting the walls and trim. I do think they skipped a few places double coating the trim, but overall, it looks great. I would not suggest them to paint your cabinets though...mine look okay, but they did not remove the doors to paint them and they rolled them instead of spraying..so they don't look awesome..I will probably end up repainting them myself later. They also re-did my hardwood floors, which look great and I am happy with so far. Overall, the communication was pretty good, but I do wish it could have been supervised better to assure they were double coasting everything and did the cabinets correctly. read more

They painted our exterior trim. The work they did was good. The color was wrong. They claim they'll match the existing color but it didn't. I called them before the painters left and the person who answered the phone said he'd check into it and call me back the next day. I never received a call back. I recommend that you proceed with extreme caution! I will never call them again. read more

As with all my reviews, I will give you exactly what happened and you can decide from there. I contracted these guys to do a whole house exterior paint with some very minor stucco repairs. Signed the contract and job start date given was June 9th. YAY! June 9th finally rolls around. No one is here. Nearly 5 PM rolls around finally someone is here. They came and pressure washed the house. YAY! Told me someone would be back to begin the job tomorrow. And that was the last I heard from them until Saturday June 13th. Someone apparently came by while I was not home in the morning. Taped a piece of paper to my garage door that said call me and a number. Ok. Why the hades didn't someone just call me? Called the number. A guy who barely spoke English answered and said (I gathered after much concentration and repeating) that they didn't start because they needed the paint colors. What?? You mean the paint color clearly defined and coded on the contract you have? Yeah, I was not pleased. And relayed as much to the guy. He says ok sorry. I will call the boss. We will back back on Monday (June 15th for those keeping score). Ok. Monday rolls around. No one is here. No one calls. By mid afternoon I'm pretty angry and call the office. No one answers (they literally never do when I call) to find out what's going on. The barely speaking-english guy calls me back an hour or two later. He says he isn't here because he is having vehicle trouble. Which I am not buying given the guy has basically a brand new pick up truck. I have to think he is having "coming to work" trouble. Fine. Whatever. He say's I'll be there tomorrow. Uh huh. Where have I heard this before. Next day, lo and behold he actually is here. YAY! Painting begins. I didn't actually see any of the work until they were several hours into it and my trim color is wrong. But it's not awful and I honestly don't have the patience to deal with these people any longer than I have to at this point so I let it go (I plan on repainting the trim this winter to the correct color but in the meantime atleast it looks better than it did before any painting). LONG story short, the job was finally finished on the 24th. For a job that was supposed to start on the 9th, that's just ridiculous. Guy cut my cable lines while doing a siding repair and then lied TO MY FACE about it. Cable guy was at the house, coincidentally, doing other things. He came out grabbed the dangling severed end and said "THIS cable". Suddenly Roberto remembers cutting it. Final day comes and I have to sign off on the work. Roberto comes to the door and my husband answers. Says to my husband that he needs to sign off, that I already walked around the house and I said it was fine. My husband, not buying it, comes in to me and asks if it's ok to sign off on since I already walked it. I said unless I astral projected, I sure didn't. I go out to walk the job. Find spots missed and a HUGE overspray onto my white window sashes (they painted with BLUE....shows up like a sore thumb and its easily a 5 inch swath). How in the WORLD did you not see that? It's like a beacon in the night up there. Had him fix all the missed items and finally signed off. This was one of the poorest experiences I have ever had with a home services company. The level of unprofessional conduct and business practices was epic. The price was good. The headache was large. And the final product was mediocre at best (when it finally finished). All in all I super wish I did not go with these guys. read more

We used SouthEnd about 10 years ago to paint the exterior of another house we lived in. Previously they had done the work exactly as we wanted. We wanted all the paint brushed on because it lasts longer and is more even. They sent a crew of six and the work was done exactly as we wanted and very efficiently. The paint looked very good for a long time. So when it was time to paint the exterior of our new house, we called them for an estimate. Tommy came out and promised to do the work exactly as before (brushed on) and he talked us into the highest grade of exterior paint they offered. Southend sent one painter to do all the work on our house. He power washed, did repairs and painted all by himself the entire week. When he started spraying on the paint, I had to stop him. He called the boss (Todd) to discuss the difference in instructions given. And he waited for a return call. I assumed Todd was calling my husband to square things away. But, alas, Todd was not calling either of us. Instead I had to call him and tell him this was not what we asked for and we were assured it would all be brushed on as had been discussed at the estimate. In the meantime, the painter assured me it would work better to spray on in most areas and then go over it with a roller. I relented so that work could proceed. A few days later, my husband noticed the wrong grade of paint was being used. My husband spoke to Todd the next day which was also the last day of painting about this mistake. Todd told us he was nearby and would stop by the job site. He never showed up. Later that day, the job was done and I had to call to get the final cost and waited to find out what the price difference would be with the less expensive paint, which we got. At that point, Todd promised to come out in the next few days to see the work done. (He never showed up.) We did not push for any further price adjustment because it looked fine, although we felt the price contracted had been higher since we wanted it brushed on vs. sprayed on. The painter, we found out, was an independent contractor. He had 30 years experience and rarely works for Southend. We were fortunate to have a painter who was qualified and conscientious but that's not a guarantee anyone else would get someone like that. I could not recommend Southend to anyone and will not use them again. read more
