I arrived at 12:20 for a scheduled appointment at 12:45. I was checked in, and provided the QTC documents required for the exam. I inquired about my wife escorting me to the exam room to assist me. The provider clearly posted a sign which indicates that "Only the claimant is allowed back to see the doctor unless the claimant needs assistance, thank you SXR staff". Our request was well within the posted policy for this provider. I was told by the office associate that she would consult with the provider regarding our request for my wife to assist me. Roughly 25-minutes passed. My wife used the bathroom. The office associate stated that "QTC will be contacting you shortly to reschedule". I asked why we were being rescheduled, and the associate repeated her statement, "QTC will be contacting you shortly to reschedule". I asked two more time why we were being
rescheduled and two more times the associate only responded with "QTC will be contacting you shortly to reschedule". I then asked a simple question, "Are we being discriminated against for some reason?" The associated became angered and told me to leave. My wife returned from the bathroom and I explained the exchange of statements to her. My wife then went to the window, with my phone which was recording the audio. She inquired with the associate why we were being rescheduled. The associated refused to answer. My wife asked two more times. The associate stated that she would be calling the police if we did not leave immediately. My shoes were off, and I require assistance from my wife to put them on. She began putting my shoes on and we heard the associate begin a telephone call
to the police, despite the obvious delay for leaving due to my lack of footwear. We left as quickly as possible and remained in our vehicle for roughly 15-minutes in hope to discuss the event with responding police officers. read more
