You could improve by NOT using baby female crabs. There was no meat in any of the crabs and very watery. No flavor. The fried fish portion was 3 tiny pieces of fish that were dried out. The fries were okay. WE ALL KNOW THAT FEMALE CRABS ARE CHEAP...unlike the price you charge! I'd give it less than one star if I could. read more

I haven't wrote a review on Yelp in a long time but this was the only place I could find for TRUE reviews on this "crab" feast. We paid $70 for 2 tickets. First the crabs smelled awful. But ok...we sit down to eat them and not only was there very little meat in them but what was there was horrible! So we thought we would try our luck with the fish and chips. Soggy, greasy nastiness. Long John Silvers is better!! We gave up and left 20 minutes into it. We were truly bummed we spent $70 on this but at least it went to charity. Oh and bring your own utensils including forks and crab crackers if you plan on attending this event because they supply absolutely NOTHING. I hate to post a bad review on something that benefits charity but you are better off to give them a donation and eat your crabs elsewhere. read more

I always have a great time at SouthEast Crab Feast events. The food is delicious, great atmosphere and fresh steamed meaty crabs.

Terrible, waste of money. Crab meat was dark and tasted awful, no fluffy white meat. Fish was rubbery and chewy, unable to eat. Will never go back. Wish I'd read the reviews first. read more

I hope that 1) the proprietors of this business, 2) Yelp!, and 3) all folks looking for ideas on what NOT to do to sample great seafood will read this. What an absolute travesty the Raleigh Seafood Festival was. Billed as a "festival" it was in name only. From the moment of arrival at the fairgrounds we should have known that something was dead wrong. No signage to speak of for the event left our group wandering the NC State Fairgrounds looking for it. Easily found was the dog event, the gem show, and the flea market but it took excellent detective work to ever locate this event. After hiking to it and realizing that our online tickets were next to useless in easing the entrance process, we hiked even further to get to the site of this pathetic event. No more than 8 actual vendors selling food with several others selling crappy gifts. Of the "food" vendors, I counted only 4 that were setup to sell seafood...WTH?!? And then, to add insult to injury, of these "seafood" vendors, one (Angela's?) tells me after waiting in line at approximately 11:30am that they were "sold out" of shrimp...? HUH?!? The event had barely friggin' opened! Next up was a vendor who was only selling drinks, but if I was willing to wait another 20-30 minutes they would graciously provide food. Last in line was a small place that had two items - crappy shrimp and fried clams. Oh boy! And that was it. Who in their right mind would think that this is OK? Obviously the yahoos at SouthEast Crab Feast think this is fine... Clearly they are mistaken. Read the reviews. Listen to the people that have, so far, paid your bills, and learn...fast. Or you will be out of business in a heartbeat. Write it down. read more

Warning only 3 food trucks longggg lines.. Music is karaoke quality entertainment They charge 14.00 couple. Admission to stand in line. The trucks are sold out of softshell crab and peel eat shrimp. Very limited selection could of went to mayflower got better value. Not a real festival in my opinion. I feel like I got ripped off. Large signs at entrance stating NO RFUNDS should of been good giveaway. read more

Was my first and last time attending. Very poor planning. The lines were really long, the drinks were warm, and the food was not that good. I waited 25 min for a bowl of the shrimp boil and when I finally got some, I got no corn, no sausage, and only a few small shrimp. The bowl was mostly potatoes. The only positive was spending time with the people I went with. I recommend avoiding this event. read more

Huge waste of time. Basically a food truck rodeo that you pay $14 per couple for the privilege of buying food from the food trucks. Long lines, no seating, little to no drinks other than beer, average food at best. Most trucks were out of most items by 3:00. Don't go! read more

We went to the crab feast in Greenville SC and it was an absolute JOKE! The crabs had a funny smell and were empty! They were selling canned sodas for $2 and Bud Light cans for $5 I'm sure they don't even have a license to do that. When I complained they said that crabbing isn't always easy and I get that! But cancel your feast DONT rip off your customers by charging them $40 for some stinky empty crabs!!! read more

The worse event EVER! Mom came up to visit me in Winston Salem from TX. OMG, false advertising! Blue crabs were barely size of hand palm! Loaded with seasoning! No way to clean guts, no way to crack crab, nothing but cheap table cover and high school bathroom paper towels! The venue was picnic tables, nothing else!! Music was 1 speaker playing CD! I was disgusted! read more

Im sorry about the previous experiences i read on here. I actually read them before I went this past Saturday. It was in Raleigh this time, I booked the tickets from 1 to 330 pm . Now when I tell you i am soooooo happy I did. Im from NC and my boyfriend and I drove 9 hours from KY to this event. I was past full when I left at 3pm!!! I left early because i was soooo full. It was definitely all you can eat for me and my friend! We received three crabs per plate so every time you went up you received three crabs. I also received a ticket for fish and chips (fries) my advice would be wait until they make a fresh batch although the fish and chips I received were cold it was good. Not too mention my crabs were full of meat!!! By the time i got to my third crab the line was gone and I didn't have to wait to get another plate! IT WAS AWWWESSOOMMEE!! The only thing was they sold .89 cent cans of soda for $2. Lol that was a bit much. That is the only reason they received a four from me. The day was beautiful and had a great breeze, i wasn't hot and we brought our own chairs so we found a nice spot under a big tree. We were EXTREMELY satisfied with the event! Also i wanted the tickets with the snow crab legs but they sold out but a lady beside me was soooo generous she gave us one of her platters because she couldn't eat it all!!! IT WAS GREAT! read more

SouthEast Crab Feast - Festivals Near Me

See all

This is basically a food truck rodeo with a cover charge. We went last year and left super disappointed. You can go anywhere at eat at these food trucks for free. Not worth it. Such a rip off. read more

Purchased a Half bushel of crabs form the "Grab and Go Southeast Crab Feast" @ Timothy Baptist Church, Athens, Ga. I am from the east coast of Virginia and I know crabs, crabbing and how to steam crabs. My experience with the crabs I purchased form the "Grab and Go" were not to my liking at all. The majority of the crabs were female of the small variety (5- 5 1/2 inches) and the claws were the size of my middle finger and very few were attached to the crabs. By the amount of water that came out of the crab when I opened them, I believe they boiled versus steamed, which made the ones I could eat mushy. I actually wound up throwing one third of the crabs away they weren't edible. But last but not least they weren't seasoned. If this is an example of the crabs being sold, then this is my last time purchasing crabs from the "Southeast Crab Feast" Although I love blue crabs, I would rather spend that same amount of money on "crab legs". read more

WARNING this is not a festival! 3 food trucks and an ice cream truck does make a festival. NOT worth the $7 price of admission. Stood on a line for half an hour just for the food truck to say that they ran out of seafood. Out of seafood at a Seafood Festival!!!!! The sponsor o this event should be ashamed to even call this a festival what a total rip off. I would avoid this year and all years to come, by the way there are no refunds even when you get suckered into giving them your $7 but you don't get any seafood. Your best bet is to head to Mayflowers or one of the other reputable seafood places in Raleigh. read more

I went to the Richmond, VA fest. I was so excited because having moved from Colorado I hadn't had crabs in some time. The crabs were very small and about half of those I had didn't have any meat in the body. The wine was two buck Chuck's from Trader Joe's for $8 per glass and the beer was Bud Lite for $6 per can. I will look elsewhere next time. read more

This event was truly a "Feast." It was litterally "all you can eat" and everything was cooked perfectly. The price was just right and there was plenty of space to enjoy yourself. Not to mention - it was in the park, which made the dining experience just as inviting. Not only that but there were even 'take out' bags of the cooked crabs that were left at the end of the event. You have to respect a group who made sure they had 'more than enough' of what the customers paid for - a FEAST. Job well done! read more

I wanted so bad for this event to be a hit but unfortunately it was a complete miss. #1. They send an email out a few hours before the start time stating there's not enough seating so bring your own. #2. It reaked of spoiled seafood in the area #3. They didn't have adequate equipment to eat and enjoy the crab. #4. The fish and chip portion was tiny and you could only get one serving. #5. Most of the crabs had no meat in them and not seasoned at all. I should've read reviews before purchasing tickets. read more

I enjoyed this event, the crab was fresh and hot. My boil was great and I really enjoyed the corn and potatoes (my fav) I can't wait until they do another! read more

Aweful!!!! No signs at park directing you to event. Crabs were extremely small, most smaller than my hand. 1 crab given to me was 3". Given 3 crabs at a time. You must bring your own condiments. All drinks $2 (can soda\16 oz. water). Music too loud. We tried to stay to get our $ worth but couldnt make it. We left a hour into event. Most sitting next to us were disappoint. While in the parking lot a couple shared that a man purchased 8 tickets and was in total disbelief. Total wastw of time and money. Purchase your own and stay home. read more

Small crabs, empty of meat. Later heard from someone that used to work on crab boats that they were cooking dead crab. They were turned in to the health department here in Nashville. Made me sick for the rest of the day. read more

the worst. Ripped off at the door only surpassed by the overpriced trash passed off as food.

What a disaster! Take three seafood vendors and add hundreds of hungry people and what do you get---hour long lines and a shortage of seafood! The Cajun place ran out of everything except gumbo. After 30 minutes in line at the crab place there were still 50 people ahead of us in line that hardly moved so we took off. read more

Not a festival. As others have said, a handful of food trucks--I wouldn't call that a "rodeo"--one of the most prominent selling "Fried Bologna." We should have known. What food we got was good enough--but the wait was ridiculous, the prices high, and the helpings very small. The food trucks were not allowed to sell anything to drink. Not even bottles of water. You had to stand in line again for that. Unless you were doing the "all you can eat" crab boil, no place to sit or even put down a plate. Do. Not. Go. read more

This was billed as the Raleigh seafood festival and I cannot say anything positive about it. Other reviews captured the terrible details - limited selection, poor signage, shoddy organization. Also, there's limited seating and horribly stroller unfriendly. Shame on yelp for promoting this event!! read more

Just left. Big waste of time and money. The smallest blue crabs I've ever tried to eat. Under staffed. Long lines for the fish and chips which was cooked in burnt grease so it tasted burned. Not a festival at all. Still hungry. Went to Six Feet Under in Atlanta afterwards for some crab legs. Wish I had read the reviews first. I will never go again. read more

Horrible waste of time and money. You pay to get in and then pick from a few food trucks to wait in line an hour for frozen, not fresh, seafood that isn't even as good as Captain D's. RIP OFF AT ITS FINEST !! read more

Awful! What everyone else said only worse! It took me 50 minutes to get my food. Nowhere to sit and nothing to go with your crab that was cold when we got it. STAY AWAY next year! Go to Mayflower or Captain D's. for better food. read more

Horrible experience!!! Staff rude and unprofessional! Crabs over cooked and me being a cooked realized most of the crabs were cooked dead! Blue crabs should be Alive before cooking! Most of the 3 crabs u get on your plate at a time was dried out on the inside( no meat). For the ones that I did have meat it was brown!!!! I was served cold under cooked French fries and over cooked previously frozen fish!!! Me and my spouse paid $30 each, and because we left due to the horrible experience we had to go eat elsewhere! The music that was advertised was a karaoke machine (SMH) set up under the shelter where some ppl sat. There was not a huge turn out, and the ppl I approached stated this was their first and last time supporting this Ratchet event! It's a no wonder they aren't at the fairgrounds anymore! The crowd has gotten smaller and now you charge double from your previous price to compensate your loss! Well I will post this review any and everywhere I can to warning others that this is A NO NO EVENT! A shame ppl are still out here hustling ppl out of their hard earned money serving a HOT MESS!! read more

This company puts on the Raleigh Seafood Festival at the NC Fair Grounds..I had such high hopes for this event..When you hear "festival" you think, large crowds, lots of food choices, maybe some rides, etc. First off, it was a complete pain to even find the proper gate to go in to..there was minimal signage pointing the way and if my husband and I hadn't told a large group of people where it was(after we had to ask directions) they would probably still be wandering around..I find it sad that this company can even knowingly use the word"festival" to describe this waste of time. It's a total of 6 food trucks(and not good ones either) and an "all you can eat" event that is staggered in shifts where you have 2 hours to eat all you can for $30 before you leave..but it's crab..that's it. There was other talk of crawfish, oysters, etc..complete BS and not well advertised..All smoke and mirrors. I'm out time, gas, and $20 for tickets to get into this disgrace. Please!! save yourself the time and money and stay away from these scammers read more

This was the worst organized event I have ever been too. It started at 4pm and was to end at 7pm. It was all you can eat blue crab and low country bowl. They did not start cooking the crab until 4pm. The lines were long and the crabs were under done. We threw out more crab than we ate. They could not keep up with the demand for the low country bowl. I waited in line three times only to be told they were out. A fourth time I got a piece of corn. Their web sites advertises beer and cold drinks for sale. There was no beer and the drinks for sale were in cans and were warm. About half way through someone went out and got ice, but it was too late to cool the drinks. The speaker was broken, so there was no music or entertainment. At 7pm they were running around asking people not to leave because they still had about 40% of the crab left. Everyone left anyway, because who wants to eat poorly cooked crab. As a last note. the staff was just down right rude. read more
