I had paid for my last month when I joined. Apparently in the fine print you have to give 10 days notice for it to be "processed in California," otherwise you're out another $50 for the next month's dues. Honestly, does it really take 10 days to process that cancellation? I highly doubt it, but if that's the case, Aspen should seriously work on its efficiency. Hello? It's 2011. Get with it. Furthermore, it did not take 10 days for them to process my initial payment of the first and last month's dues PLUS a joining fee. In addition to that, every January a member is charged a $20 maintenance fee, which I find ridiculous. Shouldn't the maintenance of the equipment be something guaranteed within one's already expensive monthly dues? Several months ago I was offered a free training session with one of their personal trainers. While the session was effective, I found myself being seriously pressured to buy a personal training package at the end of the hour. I had to decline several times and felt really uncomfortable at the end. I think saying no once or twice should really be sufficient. Overall, the classes are nice and the equipment is generally up to date (thanks to that extra yearly cost presumably...) but the company as a whole tries to take its customers

This looks like a wonderful program. I'm telling you be cautious.
