One of the less innovatively named chips shops I've been to (it's on South Street, and surprisingly, it's a chippy), South Street Chippy makes up for its lack of ingenuity in terms name designation with its varied menu and very cool till service.
Not only do they do your average fish and chip shop faves, they also have a wide range of subs, toasties, smoothies, freshly ground coffees and sweet and savoury specials. Oh my.
Took me a wee while to get my head around all that, so I opted for a curry chip. Curry was lovely and mild (Lynne and hot food do *not* mix well at all), and the chips tasted great. My dad, who was with me that day, ordered a burger. Ah, but this wasn't any old burger! When he ordered, the order appeared on a screen at the till. He could see what options there were eg. salad, no salad, sauce, no sauce, onions (raw or cooked) etc etc., and thus could choose his perfect burger. Rather novel I thought.
The moral of the tale is don't judge a chip shop by its unoriginal name. You just never know what may lie inside...
