I signed up with their waist collection services a few years back, because I wanted to stay with a local company, and their prices were reasonable. However, they increased their rates regularly, to the point now where their fees are the same as the other guys, but their service absolutely sucks. When I canceled, I was doing a refund of 40 bucks, but they took 35 of it as an administrative and pick up fee. I had cancel my service, but still had garbage and recyclables in my bins. They schedule a time to come pick them up, but wouldn't take them because there were still things in them! Their communications have been terrible, and when they have taken place, they've been very rude. I wouldn't use these guys even if I had to haul everything myself in a hand drawn wheelbarrow to the trash yard. read more

We use SSP for our trash collection. They have done a great job and have been very responsive since we started with them (several years ago). They have never missed a pick up and are easily reached. Their trash & "recycling" service is awful!! They continued to increase pricing but started becoming so inconsistent when they showed up to collect trash and recycling. I was constantly texting them at the end of the day of our trash days to see when our stuff would be picked up. It got to be where we'd set our cans out on Friday morning by 7am and constantly check throughout the day to see if our trash had been picked up. We wouldn't hear any updates from SS and sometimes I'd get a text back that they would be back on Saturday. So, we'd haul our cans back inside our garage and do it all over again the next day. Many times, they still wouldn't be by until Sunday! They never gave credit or a head's up. We just never knew when our trash/recycling would be picked up, even though our collection day was Friday. Our final straw was when we saw them one morning throwing trash and recycling into one truck. When my husband asked them about that, they said the recycling truck broke down but we noticed that (months later), they were still combining everything. read more

Shirley Septic Pumping Inc. and SSP Waste, LLC is the WORST!! Mondays were our pickup day... missed our pickup after Christmas, so cans were obviously extra full with guests and the holidays. I know the cans were out in time because our son took the cans out when he left early to snowboard in Breck. Called and they said their driver confirmed he was at our house at 12:30... total BS. Their resolution was to just pick up the following Monday . So with no way to get our now near over flowing, heavy cans back up our hill and no room for the next week of trash I was left with no other choice than to cancel service. Our new trash provider had new cans to us the next day and so far hasn't missed a pickup... however, exactly one month after I canceled SSP, their trash cans are still laying on the ground in our cul-de-sac. How times change within 4 years. Such poor customer service. You absolutely will not get anyone to answer a phone. They take several days to respond to emails or voicemails. I was told in 2021 that because of fuel increases they raised our monthly rates but assured me that when gas prices came down they would remove the fuel surcharge, lie. It is 2024 and they did another price hike citing fuel prices. So I went to WM that is $12 less a month and answer a phone call. We canceled our service 3 weeks ago and they were to pick up their equipment 2 weeks ago. I guess the price hike was not going to fix their broken equipment. Definitely have not cleaned up the approximate 100 gallons of hydraulic fluid spilled in my development. They started strong but faded and refuse to recover. I'd look for another company. read more

We had a multiple problems shut down our septic system after the cold snap in January 2024. The guys at Shirley were awesome. Came out multiple times and even gave me their personal number to make communication easier. It took awhile to figure everything out but I was very happy. It is going on a year with horrible service from Shirley Septic. They miss our trash every other week and now it has been 2 weeks since our last pick up. Getting a good trash service in the Mountains is very hard to come by. Our neighbors are also complaining that Shirley has not picked up their trash. Shirely stated it was due to weather and to haul our cans 2 miles down the and, and the neighbors did..and it was not picked up. Broken promises and lousy service. Do not set up with this company. Never an issue with them. If your home site is a trecherous steep driveway then I can see where you might have an issue with any company trying to service your property. It's not in the right colored trash can... we can't take it. It sticks out of the trash can...we won't take it. Your trash cans need to be placed here, or we won't take it. it's always something. They have always carried out the task they are paid to do. However, the price increases have been absolutely predatory. Last three times I've had my standard three bedroom tank pumped, at standard intervals, the prices were $225, then $325, and this year it was $650. I can't imagine what would contribute to a price increase of this magnitude. Since they offered no condolences or explanations of contributing factors (in response to my expression of shock), I have no idea why the massive increase. read more

They were supposed to come and service my advance system they were the ones that put it in in 2008 and they have had a contract to service it since 2013 they don't ever even look at it the last time the guys came on my ring camera they were here for seven minutes they were supposed to pull two pump cages rinsed them all out and clean the top filter section of my advanced septic system they didn't do any of that they barely looked in the manhole And said it was good they were here for seven total minutes if they don't come fix us I'm never going to use them again they're terrible company read more

It has been about 5 years from our last septic pumping. Gave them a call and scheduled an appointment about 2 weeks out. The day of our appointment it was snowing so they couldn't get the truck up to us but they got us rescheduled about 5 days later and got the system pumped. They have their phone service set up to not answer and to send you to a machine where you cannot leave a message. Two weeks like this. Shirley septic is amazing. They were minimally higher priced than their competition, but they were able to get me scheduled for next day service without an extra emergency fee. They showed up bright and early the next morning, helped me dig both septic caps out of the ice, and only took around an hour in total to pump the system. They took a week longer than quoted to pick them up after our event. The pricing was unclear. We thought we were quoted $350 for 2 toilets and 2 hand washing stations to be hit with a bill for $700 because handwashing stations are also $175. About 3 months ago I contacted this business to set up a dumpster at my residence for horse manure. Based on the size I needed they said it be $76 a month and proceeded to take my credit card information and a week later charged me. I am now 3 months in and I still do not have a dumpster. I have called them on a weekly basis asking for the dumpster. I was told "there is no steel, we can't get dumpsters'. I said, "Why did you charge my card?" So she gives me a credit. I am still waiting for a dumpster. About a month ago the owner of the company called me and said I would have my dumpster in a week. I thought "Great! I will finally get the dumpster I have already paid for. I am now in month 3. It's been about 3 weeks since the owner called and I still don't have the dumpster. Today I got an email from the company saying they will now be charging $125 for the dumpster starting Sept. 1. I DON'T HAVE A DUMPSTER!!!!! I am in shock. The other trash company up here is no better. I don't know what a person that lives in the Conifer/Pine area has to do to get one. Is there a dumpster mafia that I should contact? I don't know. Maybe I am on Candid Camera and Shirley Septic wants to see how far they can push someone before they go crazy. I don't know. All I know is I am out $76, I have waited for 3 months and I don't have a dumpster. Where is the customer service? Where is the dumpster? Where is my money? I don't know. As far as I am concerned, this company should be ashamed of itself. If anyone out there wants to come up to Pine and set up a trash company you would make millions because if you are honest and reputable you would have no competition. read more

Drivers/pumping techs have always been courteous, helpful, and professional. One recently went above and beyond when my tank lid was frozen closed. With a recent cold snap my black water line froze, which they were able to take care of promptly and, again, with the utmost professionalism, including talking to me about ways to prevent it from happening in the future. The only reason for four out of five stars is that the office staff aren't exactly friendly. They're not rude but don't have what I would consider a pleasant customer service demeanor. On my most recent service call the person I talked to said she'd call to let me know when the tech would come by but I never got that call. The good news is the tech arrived sooner than I would have anticipated. read more

It seems the ratings are all 1's or 5's. I can only speak to my experience. I was desperate to get a sewage drainage and called about 15 places. The Shirley Septic staff was courteous but said they were backed up for days but would try to put me on their schedule. I asked they call before they come in case someone else showed up and they agreed. The next day they arrived without calling but I thought it was another company that agreed to come. JEREMIAH was terrific, polite, courteous, and helpful. Great work. I called MICHELLE and told her the other company that showed up billed me $89 for showing up and not being used. Michelle immediately acknowledged their mistake of not calling first and offered an $89 discount. Wow! What a pro! A vendor that naturally does the right thing without having to be told! Company has gone down hill quickly over past few years. Both companies, the septic and the SSP trash service are apparently understaffed, as they fail to return phone calls or keep pickup deadlines. Failed to even return call for septic pumping with a house closing and also failed to pickup trash and cans as promised upon house closing. You win Shirley septic. You win. After a month+ of you "missing" my trash and multiple calls with office staff..I quit. No one could tell me why my trash was being missed. Just kept giving me a credit. That's nice you would give me a credit but like I said several times I would just rather you pick up my trash. After a week of "we will call you back" ...never got a call. So the next day I said well I'm just going to keep calling them for some type of update. The next day spoke with kaitlyn that let me know "maybe today" and she would try to get ahold of a driver or manager. Called 3 hours later, still she could not get ahold of anyone. Called 3 more hours later. Still she "can't get ahold of anyone". (Little sketchy that you have drivers all over the mountain and no form of communication) but to my surprise she called me back! About 5pm she said she would come get some of the bags out of my trash with her personal vehicle either at 630am or on her lunch break. I was like, damn that's really nice. She requested that only light bags be on top because she's "only 5'3" and can't handle heavy ones." I thought that was a really grand gesture. So I go out to my trash with some extra bags. I get some light bags on top and double bag them because I wouldn't want my trash leaking in someone's personal vehicle. The day comes, the day I atleast get some of my trash taken....Nope. She never showed. So that day I call and speak with Heather. She's actually the one I prefer to talk to since she gives more info then just "I'll call you back." She had me on the missed list and said hopefully tomorrow. Well tomorrow comes and still no trash pick up. My wife and I are done at this point. She got off work that day and tried to call the office, no one would pick up. So she stops by the office on her way home to cancel our service. Pretty surprised when she walked into the part of the office where the staff was to find everyone sitting and chatting. Noticing that the phone is off the hook...maybe that's why we couldn't get ahold of anyone. She informs them that we no longer want their services (not like we had them anyways) and then requested our trash gets picked up that night. Much to our surprise they actually picked up our trash that night. Apparently if you wait over a month and then stop by and say your canceling...your trash gets picked up! Who would have thought it would have been so easy. Then a pleasant voicemail came the next day from Kaitlyn stating "We got your trash picked up just like you requested! Call us back and give us another chance!" Don't understand why that couldn't have happened like a month ago, why let it get to this point? And why lie to me saying your going to come get it yourself? But I understand not everyone values the understanding of a persons word. Don't say your going to do something and then you don't. It was my mistake trusting that they would come get my trash or even Kaitlyn to come get it like she said she would. So I'm not doing this review to just b****. If this was my company I would want to know people are driving it into the ground, maybe have an opportunity to fix it. Also when we asked to speak with a manager/owner we were told they don't give out that information. We asked that our information get passed to them so we could speak with them. Didn't happen or maybe we're not important enough to speak with. So like I said at the beginning, you win Shirley septic your lack of professionalism and work ethic is to much for me to continue to do business with you. read more

Terrible customer service. Called them for them to provide second opinion on condition of septic tank. Another company had pumped and inspected the tank and told us that the tank needs replacing for $8000. They did not provide prof of this. Had good luck with Shirley in the past and wanted their opinion. I was met with a lady who would not listen, kept speaking over me and told me that I did not know how to do my job and that I could sell my house with a broken septic system. Kept tell me to work with the company I am not comfortable with. She would not let me tell her that I am fighting the other company but the mean time I needed someone to let me know the condition of my septic system. She was unwilling to listen and help and felt it more important to tell me what she felt I lacked in knowledge and skill. Very surprised because of the good reputation this company has. read more

Great Company! I bought a home in Conifer and I got my septic tank inspected by Shirley Septic. Needlesss to say they missed a large issue with the septic tank. When the issue came up a few months after buying the home I contacted the company. They were extremely helpful and fixed the $2500 issue at no expense to me. It's hard to find a company now a days who will admit a mistake and make it right. They will have my business for many years to come! read more

Mediocre from start to finish. They were recommended by my next door neighbor, and I figured that septic pumpers were pretty much the same, so what could go wrong? Well, I called and left a message, wanting to schedule a service. No call back. The next day I called again, got a person and scheduled. I didn't bother to mention them not returning my call. Shirley Septic told me that I did not have to be home when they came, but as they are near my house, and I was scheduled for a 730 appointment, I was able to be there. When they came, I had only dug up 2 of my 3 septic system lids, not having dug it up before, I thought that was all that needed to be done. It's a darn good thing that I was home when they came!! Had I not been there, the guy said he would have pumped the solids side from the observation port, which would not have allowed him to get it all, and then they would have charged me full price for the partial pump. Not ok. To be clear, he was going to do that even with me home. He was not going to walk around the house and let me know there was an issue so it could be addressed. The ONLY reason that I didn't get charged full price for partial work is that I went outside and was standing there asking questions. I asked him to stop, and said I would dig up the third lid (they are only about 6 inches down). He said he did not have time to wait for that, so I asked him to stop what he was doing and I would call the office and reschedule. $345 for a 1000 gallon tank is a lot of money for me, and I'm not in a position to pay full price for partial service. I'm not impressed with a company that would even consider doing that to it's customers. So I scheduled for them to come back (about a 2 week delay). I dug up the third septic lid, and when they came, there were no major issues. Then they waited 10 days before getting my check to the bank. almost 2 weeks. I will not use them again. We just moved into a house in Evergreen and had never had septic before. Shirley Septic came out to check our system and teach us how to manage it. They were super helpful and found a couple of minor things that needed adjusting. They didn't charge us for this visit.
