Called South Philly Towing after Audi roadside assistance effectively abandoned me and couldn't figure out how to dispatch a driver to my location. Mike jumped in his truck right away, despite me being ~40 minutes away. Once he got to me, he took care while loading my car onto the flatbed, and he was generally pleasant, a welcome surprise from dealing with other towing companies in the past. I gave him my keys and he dropped the car off at my shop without me having to ride with him, and sent me a picture afterwards which gave me peace of mind. I would not recommend South Philly towing. First the driver tells you what you want to hear about towing your car and then take it out of the city limits to avoid the city's regulations on towing. My car was towed to Lester Pa and then held hostage until the $4000 dollar towing and storage bill was paid by Progressive. I had asked for the car to be towed to Pacifico because it was a 2022 model but the driver took it upon himself to take it to Ciccione Tinicum Autobody and because I didn't want them to fix it, got the money another way. I'd give zero stars if possible. My elderly friend's car fell into a massive sink hole on my street and we were told to call South Philly Towing by a local mechanic. The mechanic said it would be about $75. That is what they charge hi to pick up a car, bring it to the mechanic's garage, and to unload it. All the tow truck did was pull my friend's car out of the hole which took all of 30 seconds. They took a long time to get to us and when he did, he charged $300!!! The guy towing said that he was charging us this extremely high price because it's an unusual situation. Yes. It is somewhat unusual (this happens a lot in the old parts of the city) but to gouge someone because you have them in a difficult spot, not of their making, is highly unethical, in my opinion. read more

I had both a mechanic and another tow company recommend them. My car no longer drove so I needed to tow the car to the place that I was going to sell it. I called several times to request a quote so that I could weigh where I should take it and they gave me a fair price each time. When I decided on a place the dispatcher and I had a bit of a miscommunication and he wasn't able to tow me the night that he said he'd get my car. We worked it out and he booked me for the next day. I called the next day to make sure we were good and instead they offered to meet me where I was instead of having me Uber to where my car was again just to give them the key. It was a great way to make a customer happy again! Michael towed my car and kept me up to date with the status of the tow. Mike was amazing, a Houdini really! He managed to get my car out from the top floor of a low-ceiling garage, with 6 hairpin turns and a nearly 90 degree turn at the bottom. It looked physically impossible, but somehow he did it! He gave me a ride back to New Jersey in the tow truck and was very pleasant and fun to talk with. I called at 9:30 this morning to see if I could get my car towed from Camden to Cherry Hill. He estimated that it would be between 1.5 to 2 hours. Three hours later at 12:40, he texted me to say that his driver would call me in a "lil bit" and coordinate. An hour later at 1:40, I called back to say that I hadn't heard from his driver, and he promised to call the driver right away. Never heard back so I called at 2:30 to cancel my request, and still no answer. I called Cherry Hill Super Tow instead and they were much more responsive. read more

I recently spent my Friday afternoon in hell, stranded on the side of 676E into rush hour. My warranty company called a tow company, aka Satan, who never showed up. (*Please refer to review of "Just Towing Transport and Recovery" for more details.*) In any event, after waiting for over 4 hours, my roadside assistance called South Philly Towing. (For my own sanity, I also called another towing company to hail to my rescue in the event they also decided my fateful distress wasn't important enough to respond to. I needed a backup. A sidejawn. Someone to keep it interesting.) My tow arrived and I was rescued. However (and this is where this review comes in) I got several missed calls and a voicemail from Albert from South Philly towing concerned with my whereabouts and wanting to know if I was okay. He even went so far as to text me and ask if I was assisted by another tow (which I was), if I was out of harms way, and asking me to check in with him when I could. Once I was able, I returned his text and he responded again expressing sympathetic thoughts and making sure I arrived home and wishing me a nice weekend. While I didn't use their service, I will say that next time I am stranded or in need of a tow, I will be calling Albert. I thought his concern was really telling that this company takes their business seriously, and they care about people. Driver was very professional and helpful, I barely had to do anything. He was there pretty quickly after having to play a little phone tag with the dispatcher, but it happens. Got charged $240 for a tow to New Jersey - a little steep, but the cost is what it is. Here is what irritates me: I explained my scenario to the dispatcher, he never mentioned anything. The vehicle is already on the truck when the driver tells me he can drop me off with the vehicle in New Jersey, but can't drive me back to Philly. I'm putting the vehicle in storage, I have no ride home, I'm not even asking you to go out of your way. I didn't ask why - it could be "the rules", it could be insurance, it could just be you are in a bad mood, but I just gave you $240, you can't even drop me off at the subway? You're just going to drop the vehicle and leave me stranded 50 miles from home in 95 degree weather? I appreciate the service, I definitely paid a fair price for it, I appreciate the drivers effort in ensuring our safety and the safety of the vehicle. But I would never put someone out like that. I shudder to think it's ever happened to an elderly person or someone without means. read more

I am SOOOOOO grateful to Mike at South Philly towing for saving the day for me when I was broken down on the shoulder of vine street expressway. My Allstate roadside assistance was absolutely no assistance and could not even get my location where I was broken down correct OR get me a tow company that would help me out of my dangerous and very stressful situation. Mike was in the middle of coming back from another tow and told me that upfront and when he would be closer to where I was and after many many calls to Allstate and other towing companies, none of which would help me, I called Mike back. He made his way to my location, where I had already been stuck for several hours, quickly got me car hooked up and got me home safely. It was quite an ordeal but Mike's willingness to help me out of this distress with professionalism and a sense of humor helped to make my epically bad day a lot better. My landlord entered into an agreement with South Philly tow for his parking spaces behind his apartment buildings. I am a new tenant with a parking spot and someone was illegally using my space. There was no note on the car so I was forced to call the number on the sign which is South Philly tow. They sent a tow quickly, got the car out fast so I can use my space. If you are someone who needs to enter an agreement with a tow company id use these guys. If you got towed by these guys, you obviously did something wrong. read more

Call was answered (can't say the same for other services I tried) and a cash/credit quote was provided and a 30 minute window given for a tech to arrive. The tech called me to let me know he arrived and to confirm my location, then used a battery jumper to start my car...done in 5 minutes including the credit card swipe. He followed up with is about our location. The towing guy was also really nice, sympathetic, helpful and offered to take us to an ATM (they are in the process enabling credit cards). The car couldn't be put into neutral so it was a little precarious getting the car off the truck but our driver handled it coolly, calmly and professionally. They made a bad situation much better. Pretty nice and accommodating. I went to go to work today and walked to my car and saw that it was wrecked pretty bad. Someone had caused another car to drive into my parked car. one of the best around!! we have a fully functioning garage in use on a smaller street in south philly which , in the past 8 years or so, gets a higher volume of traffic and parking. when people park in front of our clearly visible garage, blocking us in, we use south philly towing. have a huge sign that says "do not park here, you will be towed" they always come promptly when called and always wait until a police officer tickets the car and runs its' tags. if its a local person, we knock on their door to ask them to move the car so we can get in or out of our garage. they are very fair and respectable guys. they will not tow w/o a ticket. read more
