Have shopped SMU for a good 23 years. This particular location is questionable staff wise. Younger employees see me multiple times in the store but never greet me or ask if I am doing okay. At register I noticed the person before me was asked if they were in the system but I was not. Both this time and the previous time I was there. I had to ask the employee if she was going to look me up in the system because I am and prefer email receipts. I would highly suggest re-training employees on customer service. No matter what age or race. People should be treated with respect. I will continue shopping at SMU but stick with Annapolis and Bethesda stores. read more

Great quality clothing long lasting quality with exceptional help cannot wait to get back

This deserves 0 stars. I have been dying to see what this store has to offer. To start off, we greeted by a little girl staring us dead in our faces as we walked in, whose mother wasn't watching her. We were not greeted by employees, Nor helped by an employee. As we walked the whole store for about 10 minutes, we finally seen a floor associate, she asked a woman walking downstairs if she was doing okay, continuing to look at me dead in the eyes, turnt her head and kept walking. Not one word was said to us the whole time. Matter of fact the whole time I was trying to look I felt as if I was in the way of the employees, and in the way of rude snobby customers. This business feels very unprofessional, unsettling and as if they favor people that present a certain level of financial value. This was my FIRST TIME coming into South Moon Under and thanks to the uppity employees, I will not be coming back. read more

South Moon Under is an upscale store with two floors: upstairs is swimwear and the downstairs not only well-made clothes for men and women but also home goods and knickknacks. The prices are ultra-high on average $80-120, especially compared to the nearby souvenir shops. If you're willing to pay the price on the clothes then there is no doubt you will walk out in style. Even though most items are overpriced, there are other non-clothing items that won't break the bank. I found a cute mug for a friend for $12 and left a happy customer. read more

Always visit this store when I'm in OC. Upscale store, nice variety...but several associates standing around chatting about personal items and never acknowledging customers with a smile or hello. Very young associates likely need guidance and coaching. read more

Out of all the South Moon Under stores, I think the Ocean City location is my favorite, followed closely by the National Harbor location. The sales associates are always friendly and seem genuinely happy to help you, which I can't say is the case at all of the store's retail locations. The selection is great and includes men's and women's clothing, swimwear, jewelry, shoes, a small cosmetics/nail lacquer selection, and a fun selection of gift items. There's always a ton of sales items as well. The prices are high, especially if you are comparing them to prices at other clothing stores in the area, but the quality is also better. And like some of the local surf shops that sell clothing, South Moon Under is open year-round. read more

SMU is a favorite spot in Va. but coming to this location is special. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We left with a serious load.

The store has a ton of cute clothes and accessories. It is pretty expensive though. For example, the lowest price of a graphic tee I saw was around $50, while the other clothing pieces were at least $70+. While the store had some nice options, the customer service could use a lot of work. There was no welcome into the store, but there was a young associate who helped and assisted throughout my shopping. I didn't catch her name, but she was nice. However, the cashier that rang me up (M Hockman) was extremely unpleasant and unprofessional. There wasn't one word said to me after I paid and grabbed my bag. No "thank you?" No "have a good day?" After you spend $100 on one thing, you would think something nice could be said, but I guess not. I'd advise the sales associates to not take their bad attitudes out on the customers. Otherwise, it's a decent store to do a bit of shopping for boutique-style clothings. read more

I received terrible customer service all around! The sales girl brought me things I wasn't interested in and wouldn't leave me alone, then followed me around the store plying me with items I'd seen and wasn't interested in and weren't my size. I finally bought 2 pieces of jewelry, but decided that I wanted to return them. I went back to the store 3 days later and was refused a return or store credit! The rude sales girl on my second visit? Well, she was the store manager! I asked for her supervisor's information and she tried to just dismiss me from the store. Eventually I got the number for the District Manager and immediately called and left a message. Two weeks later, a second voicemail, and I still have not heard from anyone in this company. Stay away! The clothes are beautiful, but overpriced. Worse yet, the company seems to have no interest in customer courtesy. read more

Love this store! It is a pricey store much like Nordstoms. It's a nice break from all the souvenir stores that all carry the same thing and are on every corner. Unfortunately, due to the amount I spent last year, my husband avoided the area this year. :( read more
