The really cool part is that you can canoe for really cheap and even cheaper if you bring the boat back and they do not have to pick it up from down the river. There is also a nice picnic area and swings where young children can play as well as the older children. I am eighteen years old and could spend a day there no problem because even though I do not skate board I love inline skating which is one of the things that you can also do on the skate ramps that are offered there. If you have time to kill and want to do something not really expected in Breathitt County Kentucky I say go to this park and canoe with you family and enjoy.

Knocked on Larry's door and he seemed very bothered by the request for help. Reluctantly came to the site and got upset when I said I checked it with my meter and found it dead. Grouchily told me not to do that again. Said all he could do was put in a request for an electrician the next day but no information as to when or whatever. They never came at all for the Friday or the weekend. Don't think Jackson County gave a damn. Checked in with Larry the next morning. He stated we have another site for you if that doesn't get fixed. No info of when we could move if we had too or when things would be fixed. He knew this the night before that backup site was there but never mentioned it thereby leaving us wondering all night if we would even have a spot the next day. Called Jackson County Parks and they offered no real assistance and didn't even know when they could get it fixed. Apparently they never had this happen before........ So in conclusion, a nice park but a host too comfortable in his job and county that offered nothing to help the situation. They just did not care. Also cleaned the restrooms at 0900 in the morning just when everyone wanted to shower. The campground itself was nice and this involved the campground at Longview Lake.

I've been here several times, sometimes for just a day, and a few times camping nearby. You can take the sky lift up to the natural bridge, or you can hike up. There is a short trail (1/3 of a mile) that leads to a nice overlook where you can view the natural bridge from a distance. There are birds and wildlife to observe. And it is nice to visit in different seasons. There are good restaurants and touristy places to shop in the area too.

She tailored the hikes to our 65-74 year old group & we enjoyed every moment! People were loud and using the creek as a pool, spray painting and damaging the trail/trashing the area. So, if you are headed down to hike on the John Holder Trail, as we were, you will find it closed. The area itself is lovely. Hall's on the River is great (and open during Covid), you can still canoe on the river, and the fort is close by and well worth a visit.

It was too beautiful of a day in February to not try to get in a hike. Decided to head out on the…read moreJohn Holder Trail. The trails were pretty muddy after the snow melt but it was worth it. I would rate it a moderately easy there and back trail but with some beautiful views of the Lower Howard River. Total round trip is just under 3 miles. There is a point that you do cross the river so make sure you have either waterproof hiking boots or the river is low enough to get across. Please don't try to cross if it is deep or flowing fast. Nobody wants to get hurt or wet. There are some elevation changes and several historical sites. For this hike there was a lot of pretty ice hanging off the cliffs. There is a waterfall but that's off property so you shouldn't hike there. And after a day of hiking you can get soon food at Halls On The River and enjoy the scenery from there. As for parking, I usually park across the street from Halls but there is parking behind Halls too.

We stayed at Carr Creek State Park Campground for 3 days at $25/day. Some map apps may shows this…read morecampground as Littcarr Campground. As with any Kentucky State Park campground; we can either choose AAA discount, or 2nd day half off. We found this campground on our way to Red River Gorge. What caught our eyes was the deep lake and tall mountain surrounding the campground. Our site#31 has very good shade and little farther to comfort station than we normally wanted, but the site was spacious and plenty of privacy. Our site was half paved and half graveled, but fairly leveled. WiFi is none existence and LTE/3G barely worked. OTA TV has 6 digital channels. Power pedestal and water hookup were in convenient spots. Park staff was very gracious and helpful; point out the best sites, available discounts, etc. Marina for kayak access to Carr Fork Lake about 1 mile east of HWY15 from campground. Swimming beach access by walking down the flagstone steps. Although it was closed for the season, nonetheless, we saw family still enjoy the lake down there. Bathroom with showers and toilets were outdated and needs serious scrubbing. Not whole lot of things to see or around this area, more like a relax pad before continuing on our way.

The green space is sufficient for the occasional summer event. It's easy to park in the area but it's also very integrated to the surrounding neighborhood and walkable. It's common to see people playing tennis under the nights after dark. I never use the pool, but it's a nice park.

Lots of parking, restroom (portable restroom), plenty of area to skate with ramps, drop ins, and a few rails. Also, included several covered shelters for picnicking. There were an array of all different ethnicities , age groups, and all different levels of riding levels. Overall, great find!
