This place has it all - literally something for everyone. Took a Paddleboard tour here almost 5 years ago and I have not looked back since. The tour was perfect- It began with an on land demonstration from a team of professional water men and women so I could learn all that I needed to be successful before we hit the water. ( only shop on LBI that I am aware of that offers an instructional tour)! My paddle and board were fitted for my height , and weight and my beginner status. After little fuss we hit the water and as I said I have not looked back since. I purchased my third Board here just this past Sunday and it could not have been any more pleasant.. Again - expert staff with knowledge abound.. In fact the owner and waterman extraordinare Ken Encouraged me to take out a similar demo board before I made my purchase just so I could Be sure. Sold!!! Looking forward to my next visit to the shop when I am in Beach Haven. Maybe this summer for ukulele night or some Paddleboard yoga..or a fun bunch of people to paddle out with. This was one of the greatest experience of my father's life. He's been across the world and done all sorts of things, and "paddle boarding" was in the top five. It's not hard to start, and they give you great instructions. The best part was the price, $40 for two relaxing hours cruising through the bay with 20 other people looking at all sorts of birds and Sea Turtles! No one in my family is an athlete, and we all did it well. Also, if you really don't think you can stand on the board, sitting works just fine! The instructors were probably the best, all friendly, CPR and Life Guard Certified young people. From what I hear from past reviews and my relatives in LBI, this place is 200X better than the past, so don't pay attention to those older reviews. Ken is one of the coolest guys you'll meet in LBI and anyone who wants to do this will only be even more anxious to do it once they meet that incredibly nice and comforting guy! This is a must try for anyone who has the slightest desire to try something new and easy! read more

What a great 2 hours! I signed up for the beginner lesson and SUP for myself and my daughters- 13 and 11 years old. We were given perfect instructions to stand up and our instructors made sure we could control our boards enough to make our way away from the docks. It was amazing. We were reminded of little tips while paddling out, to stay out of wind, proper ways to hold the paddle and more. We relaxed around the cove, saw some turtles and then had to make our way back in. South End is the best deal on the island and the guys truly want to make you enjoy the experience. My daughters, although nervous to try it, cannot wait to do it again. Thanks so much! read more

Our experience with South End Surf 'n Paddle was great! 1st in the purchase of a boogie board for our nephew, then stand up paddle boarding for the family, surf school for our daughter, 20 & nephew 13, and finally, YOGA on the boards for mom & daughter to end a great week in Beach Haven!! The staff was wonderful in all aspects-knowledgeable, experienced, patient, funny and generally very nice people, only concerned with providing a fun safe experience for the whole family. We had GREAT time! My wife and I took a few hours to ourselves to try stand up paddleboarding. Their instructors were impressive, and friendly. They did a great job making sure everyone understood what they were doing, stressed safety and did their best to make sure everyone had the fundamentals of paddleboarding down before taking us on a tour of the bay. Lots of great sights, the instructors took the time topoint out interesting sights,and wildlife. A great value, $40 for 2 hours, excellent equipment, excellent instructors. A great time! Joined SUP yoga class last Sunday morning -- love love the class and the teachers (I had Emily and Jane recently and they were both great)! Last summer, in addition to taking a yoga class, also went on a SUP tour along with my husband and daughters (then ages 5 and 8). The tour leaders were great (my younger went on my board while my older daughter paddled herself for the first time). We all can't wait to go again this summer (and I will go to SUP yoga with south-end any time I can)! read more

Great experience! My daughter and I decided to try stand-up paddleboarding for the first time this year. The instructors could not have been more patient with us. My daughter is 9 years old - she was able to stay upright for the entire tour with the instructor's guidance. You can tell these guys have seen it all - they made sure that we were safe and comfortable throughout the entire tour. My husband & I called a few different places for SUP rentals, south end was half the price of all others on LBI. Ken & the staff were very nice & knowledgeable, we had a great time on the bay & met some cool people as well. They dropped off boards & paddles on a bay beach & didn't charge us extra. BTW the equipment is in great condition!!! Don't go any where else you will pay double or triple & may have to pick up your equipment & find your own way into the water. read more

South End Rocks! The staff all create a fun atmosphere which really helps calm the nerves if you're starting out. I was also surprised at the multiple options they have to offer for fun activities. My friends decided to go for a SUP lesson to try it out and enjoyed it so much they went back 4 times and took an extra person each time. I was one of those who was skeptical and finally went. Great time touring the bay and a good workout that seems relaxing. read more

Signed our 3 kids( 10 yr old twins and an 8yr old) up for the 3 day surf school. We were really pleased with the instructors. They were patient, caring, funny and very informative. They put us at ease about handing over our kids and really took their time to explain everything. 3 of us signed up for SUP. The first day we signed up for was cloudy and rainy, and they quickly re-scheduled for the following day. We hopped on our boards, with great first timer instructions, and we practiced for a bit before going out on the bay. A lot of fun and our guide Ken was great. We have been coming to LBI for over 15 years and thought we had seen it all. Paddle boarding on the bay is a whole new way of seeing the island. So great for the whole family. Fantastic time with my party of 9 on the stand up paddle boards. The instructors were very friendly, encouraging and professional! I HATTED THIS PLACE IT WAS SO BAD. I hated Andrew the worst he kept yelling at me purple nugg purple nugg! It was offensive. They yelled at me for crashing their board, hello, why are you teaching beginners if you don't want them to crash it. I think it would be better for you to stay at the beach instead of this place. Love this place! I was looking for a quality SUP board at a reasonable price. I got a great one and a paddle to go with. I have it awhile and love every minute I spend out there on it. Had an awesome time stand up paddleboarding with South End. We ended up having 3 people in our group, which was great since we weren't rushed or crowded.
