We were a little uncertain that we'd be following through with our plan because the rain was turning into a mini storm of sorts and we donned our raincoats and wielded umbrellas and emerged from our rental and trekked through the gravel and grass to the rustic ticket counter. After purchasing our tickets, we walked up a lovely walk and through the entrance over the the gift shop to, first, get out of the rain, and second, to wait for our tour guide. Our guide ended up being a funny and quirky lady who led us through the house, up and down steps and halls and down to the kitchen. I really wish we were able to take photos because there were some wonderful things to see and worth remembering. At the end of the tour, we stopped the cafe out front for some hot cocoa and pasties and then wandered through the lush, green grounds. The rain had let up but the clouds were still present and made for lovely photographs. If you don't care about historical homes/castles (not sure why you wouldn't) but you enjoy gardens and sprawling green, you should definitely make the trip to Powderham,

This was like a beautiful summer day following a cold, dark night. The building was built in the 1860s and carries much of its original charm while serving a new purpose. The only caution is that it's up the hill a bit. But this is Torquay; everything is uphill. We would love to come back yet again (we came once a couple years ago, and returned again for this visit).

The absolutely best part of staying here is the breakfast of fresh fruit and what they call a 'Full English' cooked breakfast. Yummy. Neil and Sally are such interesting innkeepers and couldn't have been more welcoming with their offering of tea and cakes. A very well run B&B, totally clean and very comfortable. We highly recommend that anyone visiting Devon stay at Torcroft.

It is a lovely way to enter the town. The station is small but it has everything you need, a ticket machine, ticket office with lots of information leaflets, toilets, cycle storage and a great little cafe. I can recommend the bacon baps and a hot mug of tea. When you leave the station there is a taxi rank at the front and the bus station is just across the road. If you don't have too much luggage you can easily walk to the central hotels and B & B's. If you have just come for the day the beach is less than 5 minutes away.

The staff in charge of refreshments where so nice and informative about delays if any, and one obviously impatient man~who for some reason swore & stomped off! Don't know why! There was a couple of people waiting but we were all quite happy chatting away to each other and if he had waited he would've been next! HE was the only thing wrong with the journey & HE was the only one who was at fault! The young girl behind the counter was very efficient and polite. On the return journey the staff with the refreshments ~ where so friendly and funny. These staff both at Paignton station & on the trains are an asset to your name~ well done guys! The train and the station where both clean & well kept~ a little old maybe but that just adds to the quaint charm it has. Unfortunately my partner lost his phone either on the return journey or in the taxi we had outside to go back to Brixham. It is only a one touch mobile not worth a great deal but as you know, all contacts and information is kept on it and he is quite lost without it! The Premier Inn "experience" is one of comfortable rooms, quiet (no noisy slamming doors!) and with black out curtains. The result is a great night's sleep. The next day we enjoyed the hot buffet breakfast, featuring everything from sausages, hash browns and eggs to Porridge, Toast, Fruit, Crumpets and more. It was really tasty! The hotel is located directly on the sea front and a few minutes walk from town. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the hotel, and Premium Wi-Fi (to watch streaming movies, etc) is available for a reasonable £5 per day. I can't think of a single fault with our stay, and I'd happily stay here again!

The evening cabaret includes shows, bingo, kids games. The passes are included in with the price of the holiday. There is an extensive indoor swimming pool, which is lush. this is a family friedly site and I would highly recommend it. The site is a gentle 10 minute walk to the beach.

We found the park to be lovely, the reception is like a Spanish Hacienda and there's a very tropical feel to the whole park with lots of palm trees and sandy open areas. The accomodation we stayed in was top notch and disabled friendly. The clubhouse was spotlessly clean and the staff were so friendly we knew them all like friends by the end of our stay. The food onsite is great, much better than the normal food in places like this. The entertainment is fantastic and there's no fees for passes it's all included in your holiday, there's tons to do in the local area, I heartily recommend a holiday here you will love it and the beach is wonderful.

St David's Station is located just outside of town in Exeter. You can catch the train to most…read moreplaces e.g. London, Cornwall, Plymouth, Bristol, and further afield. There is a WHSmith as you enter the station where you can buy drinks, snacks, magazines, books etc for the journey, and there is a cafe where you can purchase hot drinks, sandwiches, cakes etc. This is nice when you're travelling at 6am! The car park at the station is quite large, but is costly to park all day. You can, however, travel in by bus - the H1/H2 bus stops right outside the station, so is very convenient. You can purchase tickets at the station, and they also have a fast-ticket machine if you have bought your tickets before and need to pick them up. There are various platforms, with a footbridge over the lines to get to the ones on the far side. I believe there is a lift as well. There is a waiting room on each platform to keep you warm on cold days too

Used this station a number of times…read more The carpark isnt to bad if parking long term since (well it wwas when i parked) £6 for 24 hours or thereafter so you can park as long as you need. The station entrance is quite small, although there is some self service ticket machines, a WH Smith and the travel desk. The platforms are well sign posted, clean and tidy, although as always they lack bins! The only one I found was outside of the station and that was full up.

The smaller rooms have some charm but the larger area could be any plastic pub. I visited The Old Inn on a Thursday in May with a couple of friends after a long and tiring day. I had recommended it after a pleasant previous visit made better by Munich Hofbrau on tap. When we arrived in the pub at 10pm and ordered a round there wasn't anyone else in there. About 20 minutes later the manager turned the music off which struck us as a little odd. At 10.30pm we went to the bar to get another round before the bell rang for last orders. Our simple, "Same again please," was met with an abrupt, "We're shut," from the manager. We left. And went to the Rugglestone Inn down the road.
