Been with this Dr. Nichols for years and never had a bad experience really. He's always been very helpful and kind, which is incredibly hard to find in my experience. I feel like he listens to my concerns and explains all of my options instead of feeling like he's talking down to me or rushing to the next appointment. The nurses and rest of his team have been kind and helped me resolve insurance hiccups. While I can't speak for everyone in the office I can speak to the incredible care Dr Mathew Nichols and his team have provided for me the past few years and for that I am grateful as I know how difficult it can be to find a capable AND KIND doctor read more

The care seemed decent initially, however, the billing is a nightmare. The codes are made. They don't look out for their customers at all. There phone systems were down for months. They assume they call you so your care is automatically diagnostic and the code it that way. You will not get to talk to any health care professional just months of arguing how billing was correct. They threated to have their CEO contact you who gives you a lame letter how they were right. Extremley poor service overall. read more

Over charged my wife and they after I paid the overcharge they kept billing me. Called proved that I paid proved my wife was over charged manager said I think we owe you a refund they never returned my calls kept billing me after I paid never returned my calls , they then send me a summons. I'm going to court with my bank statements showing I paid it and proof that she was overcharged. I had the same exact procedure two weeks earlier her bill was more than twice mine. Don't go. They not only over charged you but then bill you twice. read more

Super frustrating to arrive and hear that my appointment was canceled with no communication and no reason given. The office is outdated. Gross and old. The front desk is a mess. The receptionists had full blow breakfast on the counter and the guy helping me had egg in his beard. I am in severe pain with awful symptoms. You obviously go here due to a medical necessity, so not fun, however you want good care and follow-up afterwards. The doctor and nurses were all pretty nice and the procedure went as it was supposed to the day of. However, the follow-up after was poor in my case. They said they would provide me the results at the end of the week that I went, however when they didn't I had to play phone tag with them to figure out what the results were. I finally got the results in the mail (before I could figure this out with them - they never called me back), and then I just had some simple questions. They never returned my calls. As opposed to the ease of making the appointment, it was hard getting through to them afterwards. I keep getting sent from one voice prompt to another then the receptionist would send me to the voice mail for a nurse's station, but no one called me back. Also, they stated to me that they would call me back the next day to see how I was doing but no call. read more

I was refused service at the Lone Tree Office although I have Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) through United Health Care I was told to call and make my appointment at the Castle Rock facility which is 15 miles from my home. To have insurance and be turned away for care is absolutely absurd. Although HealthOne was in contract negotiations with United Health Care, my plan was still a Group Medicare Advantage PPO plan. the upside: I most certainly will be receiving the best care possible at another facility. I would suggest you find a facility that has you as the patient as their primary focus and concern. read more

Stay far away! I went to South Denver GI in early 2021 as a referral from my PCP. I have suffered from excruciating heartburn and reflux over the last five or six years. I tried other avenues (I've been on OTC meds and/or prescription meds for years) but finally decided to ask my doctor for a referral. I had my first endoscopy done in early 2021. Nobody went over the results with me and nobody called in the following days to discuss my results. Six months later, I was looking through my paperwork because my heartburn was still horrible and I noticed that it said I had a hiatal hernia. I called them back in March 2022 and asked why the results were never discussed with me. They said that since I was a referral and was not seen as their patient directly, the responsibility was on my PCP. Okay? So I let them know I wanted to schedule another endoscopy. They had me schedule an appointment with one of their PA's first. I explained to her all of my symptoms and how badly it was affecting my quality of life. She basically "shoo shoo'ed" me and told me that I needed to change my diet. I kept insisting that I hardly had a diet anymore because eating had become so painful and she said, "Yeah, certain foods will do that. You need to start cutting things out." That was literally her solution to my excruciating heartburn and reflux. I had a private discussion with a good friend who is a PA and she told me to insist on another endoscopy. I called them back and they said that they typically will not do another endoscopy when they did one just a year before. I asked about the hernia and they said it was very small and it more than likely was not causing my problems. I asked if there was a chance the hernia got bigger in the last year and they said that was highly unlikely. They finally agreed to perform a second endoscopy on me in May 2022. The doctor was extremely condescending and asked me what my plan was when the results came back normal. I told her I wasn't sure but I hoped we could figure something out because my quality of life was really deteriorating. I couldn't eat more than one small meal in a day and have lost a significant amount of weight. They did the endoscopy and said the results were the same as the year before. They wanted me to come in for another appointment to discuss diet options. At this point, I felt like I must be a hypochondriac and I really didn't wanna spend another co-pay just for them to make me feel like a moron. My mother and husband kept encouraging me to get a second opinion. I was very hesitant because I really started to believe what South Denver G.I. told me and I was starting to think I was a hypochondriac. After an extremely horrible episode, I decided I needed to get a second opinion. I found another doctor and my records were transferred over from South Denver G.I. I had a telehealth appointment with the new doctor and from the moment he looked at my file, he said I was in dire need of an operation. I told him that I was told that the 1 cm hernia had not grown at all. He told me that he could tell just by looking at it that it was much larger than 1 cm. Fast forward two weeks and I had laparoscopic surgery to repair the hernia as well as implant a Linx around my esophagus. I had asked the doctor at South Denver G.I. about a Linx and she said I did not qualify. The new doctors office said it was exactly what I needed. After surgery the doctor confirmed with me that he repaired a 5 cm hiatal hernia. So, slightly larger than the 1 cm they kept telling me. All I can say, is think goodness I got a second opinion. My quality of life and food consumption has already improved. Needless to say, South Denver G.I. does not take the time to listen to their patients, gaslights them when there's an actual problem and makes them feel like they are complete idiots. Stay far away from these people. read more

Age 36 is a bit young for a colonoscopy I've heard. Oh well, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Had some changes in bowel habits, so Kelly Smeester recommended I do the colonoscopy. She was absolutely awesome to work with and so were her nurses. Before the colonoscopy I received a call from a nurse who was amazing and made sure I had everything ready to roll. I had Dr. Peter Le for the colonoscopy. Wow, what an amazing and kind doctor, I am thankful for him. His whole team was just beautiful from the front desk to the nurses. I cannot recommend South Denver GI. The communication is very poor. I did not receive my prep instructions until a couple days before my procedure (prep starts 7 days in advance); I called several times to ask about them and was told they would let a nurse know -- one person laughed while talking with me. Day of the procedure, preop was chaotic and the preop nurse struggled prepping me ... I ended up with bruises all over my IV arm and my left hip. It's been over a week since procedure and I still don't have my results. read more

Hello, I've been going to my GI at South Denver for 10+ years to treat my UC with Sulfasalazin and Mesalamine. My flare up cadence is almost every 2-3 years, every time I have it, I've always insisted my GI to do colonoscopy. This year I had a major flare ups lasting months with on-off steroid treatments, and my GI doc said it was because you're stressed. Got a colonoscopy and doc said everything is OK and just few inflammation here and there along the large intestine. After 2+ months post colonoscopy, I never got the pathology report. I kept calling to get the result, they would not call back, and finally after 3 month, they mailed in the report to my house. They don't have the decency to give you an update post colonoscoy. Unbelievable and Ridiculous service! I finally decided to get a second opinion and got another colonoscopy recently, the new GI said that I need an escalation therapy before things get worse. I am hopeful that the new doctor will listen and be empathetic rather than seeing us contribution for profit centers. Oh, btw, if you try to transfer your records, this person call "Casey" from the medical records department got a real attitude, rude, and will make your life miserable to do any medical transfer. She's unprofessional, mean and have no patience for customers/patients simply wanting their medical records. This is not a way to treat a customer. I filed a complaint to her boss and the CEO of South Denver GI to let them know she needs customer training 101. To sum up, this place should be your last resort and avoid it like a plague. read more

This company is absolute trash. I went in as a cash pay client and spoke with Diane for a analysis of an endoscopy. I was very clear with Diane about CASH PAY and that I wanted a full estimate prior to my procedure. I agreed to pay them over $1700 for the service in person in cash. Which I did. One month after my procedure, I get a notification that I owe nearly another $1,000 for something that was not disclosed at the time of service. Had they informed me that it could be another large sum of money I would have never done the procedure. I end up getting forwarded to a rude and threatening manager by the name of Erin Peters. She claims they disclosed it all to me prior to the procedure, which they never did. She also threatened to take me to collections if I am unable to pay their ridiculous fees within a 6 month timeline. I asked for a copy of the phone record that she claims the rep gave me the information and she is unable to provide it claiming that they do not record their phone calls. South Denver Gastroenterology fits the stereotype of the typical medical scamming company that they should be known to be. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM when they give you a CASH PAY QUOTE out the door. God forbid you have to work with Erin, she is intolerable and awful to deal with. She insinuated that she always backs her customer service reps and that the customer is always at fault. She refused to give me full names of the people I worked with to protect them from small claims court. I have never been deceived by a medical establishment like this before. They expect you to wait 3 weeks to get seen, but god forbid you're a few minutes late to the appointment and they tell you to kick rocks, next availability is another 3 weeks out. Dr. Le is a complete joke. I went in to discuss IBS type issues and within five minutes he said I need a colonoscopy. I was 32 at the time with just typical IBS issues. No medical literature supports a colonoscopy with these symptoms. He just wants money. I went to another doctor and he did a simple fecal test to rule out Chrons and UC. I scored at the absolute lowest which is 99.9% accurate in eliminating the chance it is either of those. My new doctor did a comprehensive blood test for food sensitivity/allergy and we found out what the issues are. Dr. Le didn't even consider food sensitivity as a possible issue... read more

The nurses were very empathetic and genuinely seemed to care. I told had it in writing as well as a discussion with Dr.Lee and the nurses that I did not want sedation. I only requested pain medication if needed. I also requested female only staff because of past trauma. Oddly enough, a man came to me and said he has to help me get dressed?! I made him leave asap. My anxiety went through the roof. After looking through my paperwork several days later, it stated I WAS given sedation. Hospital staff confirmed this when I called the following week. The lady on the phone apologized. Dr.Lee completely disrespected my well being. Clearly the procedure was rushed by her. Then kept it a secret that they gave me a drug I said I did not want. I am now traumatized once again after taking many years to trust medical personnel again. My patient rights were violated. Never again will I have another Colonoscopy. read more

WARNING!: This location has rude staff, is extremely inefficient, to the point where you are asked the same questions 4 times by different nursing staff upon intake. The Dr's are extremely backed up and you have to be reassigned to another doctor. The nurse also knocked my knee with a monitor that was strapped to the side of the bed. Only after I complained that it hurt did she say sorry. What I experienced at this location was not a "patient first" or a "caring" approach. South Denver Gastroenterology, PC put profits before patients. The staff has ZERO empathy for the patient and them not having eaten for 24+ hours and being up all night going to the bathroom & clearing out their bowel. So all the procedures seem to go good. This place is SUPER busy. They are a factory just churning people out as fast as they can. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but you do end up feeling like a number while they are dealing with general anesthesia and probing you. My appointments here were pretty good. I had a PA that worked well with me. However, during my last visit it was apparent that she was definitely over me. She made up some excuses that a bunch of people would follow up with me about getting me in some studies. She basically said that there wasn't anything else that she could do for me and then showed me the door. I still have intense GI issues and no one has ever followed up with me. read more

I have been going to this practice for 8 1/2 years, on and off for routine Colonoscopy's, Endoscopy's etc. Most recently, I had a follow up appointment with P.A. Kelly to review the findings of my tests and to come up with a treatment plan. Kelly is very compassionate and thorough. She never makes me feel rushed (I have lots of questions for her...) I prefer seeing a P.A. for my appointments here, they are truly, close to equally trained as most MD's and the P.A.s tend to listen better and take their time with you. I highly recommend Kelly at this very large practice in Lone Tree. Everyone I have dealt with at the front office at several appointments and those I spoke to on multiple phone calls in-between visits have been very pleasant to deal with and they have been timely in getting back to provide answers to questions I have had. read more

Dr. Le is phenomenal, he is a 'leave no stone unturned' kind of a doctor, and he believes his patients (which is a novelty as a young woman with GI issues). For my fellow zebras, this doctor is EDS (and comorbidities) knowledgeable and stays on top of new research. He does not give up on his patients if they are too complex or if your symptoms do not fit into one box. I have only had pleasant experiences with his office staff, they have been extremely helpful with difficult scheduling problems on my end, and I have never had a problem of having to wait too long for anything. Dr. Le is an incredible, knowledgeable doctor with great bedside manner and I have been very pleased with my experience thus far. read more

Received a referral from my doctor to see what could be done about some pain in my stomach. I filled out the paperwork online (as requested) to help save time, but I had to give all the information over again. Not sure why I even bothered to fill out the information. After meeting with Dr. Patts (he was very nice) he wanted to set up a CT Scan and endoscopy (if the CT Scan doesn't show anything). He walked me down to were the staff would be able to help, but no one was still there to help. I received a call the next morning (which is what I was advise would happen). I had to call back, and was told they couldn't help me with scheduling the CT Scan and the order where sent somewhere and to wait a few days to receive a call from them, sure sorta understand that, but at the same time, the office wanted to set up the endoscopy. How can I set that up, without knowing when I will get a CT Scan. It just seems that they are very unorganized, and not their to help patients, but just for a paycheck. read more

I had no issues with the nurse practitioner who saw me and scheduled my upper and lower GIs, but after going to their assembly-line facility and ending up so sick that their on-call physician referred me to Swedish ER -- and staying violently sick more than 24 hours later -- I'm done. I can't even get a straight answer from their doctors involving what happened. They're more concerned about covering their own derrieres than helping me determine why I ended up doubled over in pain and unable to keep anything down until the following night -- even with meds given through both an IV and with pills. I'm so upset about my treatment, I won't even be doing my follow-up there. read more

Dr. Hansen tried to charge my 32-year old husband for a colonoscopy without doing less expensive and invasive tests. Dr. Hansen did not do any food testing, and they tried to charge over $2000 for a potentially unnecessary procedure. These people just want money and have no care for the patient. Yes, I was referred back and with much reluctancy I went. I called and told the woman who answered of my past experience, and I told her I was referred too a specific doctor I needed to see. I would only see him. She was so excellent and accommodating! She got me in with this specialist within a week, which is unheard of. It was pretty incredible. The doctor was thorough, looked through my records, and told me the truth about my options. It was awesome. Total redemption! I would just advise you to see a doctor rather than a nurse practitioner. It might have been that particular nurse practitioner, my experience this time was great! He was no nonsense! It was sweet! read more

My experience with South Denver GI started in the summer of 2013. I would never consider them for these reasons: 1) Unable to get a timely appointment. 2) You will most likely not meet your physician until you have a major test like an endoscopy. 3) The practice is so big, that you will get multiple phone calls from personnel in the office at the same time. It is obvious they do not communicate and thus drop the ball on patient care. 4) I was pushed to the side and consequently misdiagnosed. If you need a GI doctor, please choose elsewhere.
