The lady working at the desk offered to check me in from outside when she saw me at the door, but not entering. I noticed she was not masked and when I enquired if the staff were masked inside she said, "no, we don't have to". Her flippant disregard really caused me pause and I asked if all staff were unmasked including the doctors and she answered affirmatively. I canceled my appointment and will find another vet. So confused why a medical facility would have such disregardm for their patrons safety during the height of the pandemic.

Alpine Pet Care Center was the so called "on call veterinary" on a Wednesday evening. My dog had an…read moreemergency situation where he had cut an artery in his wrist and Dr. Trace Gorham REFUSED to see him that night. When asked why he would not see him he tried to redirect the question and would not give us an answer. My dog was loosing an immense amount of blood and it was expressed multiple times we could not find any other care. When we asked what to do next the he told us that he should be fine if we just wrapped it up for the night or take him all the way to Nashville. If I had not gotten help from the local Humane Society my sweet Dallas would not be here today.

I had to unexpectedly put my 2 year old service dog down due to sudden paralyzation. She couldn't…read moremove, but still felt pain in her back and legs. She was unable to even use the bathroom, so I knew it was time. She would very quickly become more sick without using the bathroom. My vet is in Nashville, so I had to pick a place to sadly euthanize her. I picked Westgate because I had heard great things and they were the most affordable for this service. When I got there, I booked for the last appt of the day and walked into a procedural room to no one in there. My dog was dead weight and no one was in there to tell me where to lay her when I walked in. The vet didn't say a single word to me, never made any eye contact, and even referred to my dog as a he. I don't know the vet's name or anything because of this. It was like there was a wall up between my support system and I, and this staff. My girl was sadly stuck in the middle of this. He was calloused, insensitive and extremely disrespectful to me and my service dog. The vet also got frustrated talking to the vet tech because my dog's legs were stiff. He kept telling the vet tech to move her body around and I tried to warn them that her sciatic nerve was causing her extreme pain. Still didn't say a word to me. They were holding her up and she wasn't laid down until she was gone. She wasn't comfortable. The vet did it so quickly and rushed because it was Friday before Labor Day. That's all I can assume from his disgusting behavior. They didn't ask if I wanted to say anything or had any last wishes for her. No calming medication was administered before they put her down. She was scared and confused. I stopped them to ask if the pink syringe was "it" and the VET TECH responded quietly, "yes ma'am." So as quickly as I could, I made sure my baby was looking at me and I told her how much I loved her and how thankful I was that she was my service dog and seizure response dog. I wasn't told how quickly it would take effect or anything before it was administered. They walked out of the room and I spent maybe 30 minutes after in there processing what just happened and sobbing over my girl. The vet walked in and out awkwardly and at one point showed up to make it obvious he had changed from his work uniform to his regular clothes. Even walked in and out to get his phone. BUT never said a word. If he had been kinder, introduced himself, and expressed his condolences and apologized for the circumstances, I wouldn't be as upset. I understand some people don't want to be talked to during a time like this, but the LEAST you can do is show gentleness and kindness in these moments. As I walked out of the room, leaving my girl's body behind, the receptionists did express their condolences. I appreciated that, they seemed nice. I just stepped forward from my group that came with me and said, "take care of her, she was a service dog. Is there anything else you need from me?" They said no and explained when I could come by for her remains, and I left. I will be talking directly to the business when I come to pick up my girl's remains and telling them my frustrations. I'm not usually one to EVER write a bad review and give benefit of the doubt...but THIS was unacceptable. Shame on Westgate. To my Lulu, I'm so sorry you became suddenly paralyzed and got the diagnosis of a painful disease. You didn't deserve this. We were suppose to live many years together. You also didn't deserve the disrespectful procedure that Westgate provided. If I had known, I would've spent more money for a gentler, more empathetic service. It's now been a month without you, and learning to navigate life and my disability without you has been unexplainably painful. I'm just sorry I chose this place for our final moments.

Plus they charged me $30 one time just to have my dogs nails clipped and anal glands expelled. Went across town less than 1/2 mile and got it done for $10.00 . Heritage Animal hospital has always been amazing with my shih tzu Maybell, I've been taking her…read morethere ever since I've had her since she was a puppy and she's 2 and a half now. all of her check ups, her shots and vaccine, when she was spayed and chipped, for ear infection, when she was sick, one time when she was smaller she got a hold of something and ate it and it was lodged and she couldn't breathe or pass it or throw it up I thought she was going to die and was so scare. I rushed her there, they kept her all that day and overnight and kept me constantly updated and they saved her life, I will be forever grateful to them for that. the staff and the doctors there are always so friendly and caring and take the very best care of our fur babies and I highly recommend them. this is totally unrelated but I had another dog a big golden doodle Nala and she would sometimes sneak outside, we were also fostering her sister Luna as well and she was very mischievous and she was the one that would always run out the door and Nala would follow her. anyway we had the worst neighbors that apparently didn't like animals or people or anything for that matter and just wanted to complain about every little thing in the neighborhood, they wouldn't come to you personally but call animal control for no reason. ok trying to make a long story short here, someone poisoned my dog yes my big beautiful gorgeous golden doodle Nala and whatever it was, was meant to kill her because she almost died instantly. seeing her lay there in extreme pain and suffer and not be able to help her or do anything was the absolute worst helpless feeling in the world, I took her body to heritage to be cremated and they were the absolute kindest and most caring and compassionate and handled her with the upmost care and when I went to pick up her ashes she was in a beautiful wooden box.

Dr. petersen is an awesome vet she is a down to earth no nonsense doctor who really CARES about…read moreyour pet and does not see you as a walking wallet, she will take your budget and work around it, if you want high priced, unecessary tests, go to a vet out of the phone book if you want exellent pet care and some one that really cares, go see dr petersen she is only open 4pm-8pm, mon-thurs, but she has an emergency number that gets answered, right away, no major wait time! my older cattle dog broke her leg, and dr petersen has been just wonderful, and she seems to be really concerned about morgan's well being! I will be taking all of my animals to Dr. Petersen as long as she stays in business!
