SO..... I don't understand the other reviews except for maybe it's just that it takes more time to find the right person than you'd hope for, mainly because you laid out an investment and because you're excited about finding someone. ANYWAYS - i joined about a two years ago. I've been on other online sites for several years and mainly found guys that just want one thing (we all know what) - so i decided to try the old school route. Debbie was fantastic - I mean, she is a really really nice woman who you can automatically tell cares a lot about what she does. I signed up and waited (very impatiently) - my kneejerk reaction was to call & get my money back but they explained that we're not looking for just any old d-bag, we're looking for the man I'm meant to marry. When put into context, I actually appreciated them being meticulous with selecting my matches versus just filling a quota and wasting my money. And now here we are... about 8 months ago I was matched with a guy who honestly at first i thought was going in the friend zone. But they told me if i had a good time on the first date, to see him again. I'm glad I listened..... Because now I'm engaged! Nathan is truly the guy I never saw coming and wouldn't have likely picked for myself. But now i cant picture my life without him. He's everything I've ever wanted, I was just too focused on the wrong things to realize it. So, I give my heartfelt thanks to Debbie and the team - I gave y'all a pretty hard time and shouldn't have. I should have trusted you. Thank you thank you thank you - I couldn't be happier and hope to see you at the wedding in November read more

I joined SC Matchmakers on July 1, 2026, and paid $5,200. I have been disappointed with the matchmaking service, communication, and handling of my concerns. There were extended periods with little or no communication, and the referrals I received did not meet my expectations. When I raised concerns about one referral's background, I felt those concerns were minimized and that I was encouraged to proceed despite my discomfort. I understand that a matchmaking service cannot guarantee chemistry or a relationship. However, for the amount I paid, I expected consistent communication, thoughtful referrals, and a responsive approach when I raised concerns. I requested a partial refund of $2,600 and followed up in writing. As of my most recent follow-up, I had not received a response or a satisfactory resolution. I am sharing my experience so prospective customers can make an informed decision. I would still welcome a fair resolution from SC Matchmakers. read more

SCAM!!!!! Stay away from this matchmaking site; every single person they matched me with .... wasn't what I was seeking, NOR what the guys they matched me with were seeking. Out of the 8 people they matched me, I only met one and he had to be home before the sun went down. One couldn't even remember chatting with me and said he cancelled his membership. All the others, after chatting on the phone, said the Service screwed up AGAIN and mis-matched us!!! I am out $3K, and you haven't even got the 3-business days Legal Cancellation on any Contract you sign, to Cancel. They say you agreed they get to keep 1/2 of what you paid because you took their stupid personality test. I did everything to the letter, letting them know about how the connection went, etc, after each match they gave me. The agreement was, if the connection didn't work out, they would automatically work on matching me with another person. I have not heard from them in the past 3-4 years. SCAMMERS!!!!! The STATE of SC should SHUT this Business down!!!!! read more

Worst dating service ever! I paid 2500+ to meet 8 men. This service matches people based on their compatibility. I met just 2 men. Totally not compatible either me!! Then I never was sent any more men. They absconded with my money. Totally scammers!! I reported them to the BBB. Awaiting outcome. This fraud of a dating service is not responding to the BBB phone calls!!! They should be shut down. My money refunded!! read more

It's quite expensive and you aren't sent anyone that you have anything in common with. The men are too old & all they do is talk about themselves. You call & ask if they can send you someone else. They say yes, but they don't. Go elsewhere! I wish I would have checked the company's reputation first. read more

Abysmal experience.........Expectations were not met.........Donna, very pleasant, makes a nice presentation, but failed to deliver. AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL! I would give 0 stars if I could. This is one of the worst decisions I've ever made. I spent HOURS with someone who interviewed me, and I felt comfortable that she would represent me well. She also told me that I could get half of my money back because "they stand by their product" (which was only true in the first 3 days). Then she was no longer part of the process. Whoever wrote my bio could have copied and pasted from anyone's - it was generic and didn't represent me at all. Based on the matches they sent, it's like they completely ignored what I shared in the interview. These people weren't even close to what I was looking for and they were very unhappy with the service as well. Shame on you, SC Matchmakers - you should do better for the exorbitant prices you charge. Thank goodness you're not a mechanic or air traffic controller or you could truly cause someone to die with such a poor product. read more

This was one of the worst compulsive decisions I've ever made! I was two weeks fresh out of a broken engagement and it was Valentines Day.... need I say more? I was not emotionally in a place to even consider another relationship but I fell prey to the "car salesman" pitch this company presented in my emotionally fragile state. I immediately regretted my decision and wrote an email and printed the letter and delivered directly to them. I was informed I'd still need to pay 50% of the signed contract total of $500! I explained I DID NOT want to participate in the process and was repeatedly told to just give it a try and that a match was in the works. Several weeks go by and no match, so I again call and say I DO NOT want a match I regret my decision to which I'm told we already sent you a match? I check my email and spam and no info was sent to which they say we will "resend" it? I reached out to the person to explain my situation and that I'm NOT looking to match and apologize only for him to say he never received MY match till after I had contacted him!!! This is a money making business that preys on people emotions! Turns out he was out of over $3,000 for his contract!! The quality of man I was matched with was someone I could have easily of found myself on FB dating or any other dating app. I can not express it enough, find love the old fashion way, meet up with people at events and places you enjoy. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! read more

I met with a counselor for a few hours. Very thorough & thoughtful conversation. Matched me eventually with my now fiancé & will be married Sunday! It's been an interesting process. I keep getting prospects that are rude/un-gentleman-like on the phone. Prospects are either pushy/arrogant (too many texts on 1st day), state they are going to call YET instead when it was time for us to chat this fella sends a text saying... he is heading to the gym and will call me when done~LIE and another used the "F" word in a text just recently. One fella called me on a Friday @815am....I am not a business. Looking for a true gentleman that is a real Christian and is honest. Total scam, they lie about what they provide. A phone number is not matchmaking, especially when he doesn't even call back. They count that as an "introduction." I contacted BBB and SC Consumer Affairs. Read their complaints. They agreed to pay me $250. They never paid it and have refused to answer repeated calls and letters from SC Consumer Affairs. They have had 19 complaints filed against them in 7 years. read more

I started posting my journey with South Carolina Matchmakers some time ago. Please see my previous posts for the first few matches. I believe Donna from the home office, who does the Matchmaking is trying! She has kept in touch with me via email or phone call monthly. That is a positive! She has continued to communicate her desire to find me a suitable match, another positive. I believe the issue is a lack of men who might be suitable. To give a brief bio, a professional female, tall and average weight, blonde ( only my hairdresser knows for sure), well-traveled internationally, and running my own successful business. I am not saying it is easy to find a match for everyone or anyone! So at best we all hope the needle in the haystack is found! read more

The contract is unbelievable with a 60 month period and of performance, a disputes clause where even if i won i would have to pay their legal fees Has anyone filed a small claims action against them for this terrible contract read more

Stay away. As other clients have mentioned I wish I had read the reviews before I joined. Once they get your money they don't care about making a match. They sent me 4 matches and they weren't anyone I would ever date. We had nothing in common, we had totally different lifestyles and zero attraction. When I signed up they presented a package that was $9000!! I said absolutely not and of course they negotiated and sucked me in. It's so upsetting as I feel they prey on peoples emotions and just truly care about the money. I agree with other reviewers, they have a very small pool of members and are very misleading about that in the interview process. They will will not discuss how many members they have nor their success rate. Please please don't fall for their scam. At first I didn't want to post a review as I didn't want to keep people from joining as I was looking for a match!! But honestly I am so disappointed and feel taken advantage of that I don't want anyone else to fall for it and make the same mistake I did. Stay away. read more

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Look on BBB for reviews as well. The worst money investment I have ever made. Save your MONEY and just use a dating app. I am not sure how they are staying in business...oh wait, they charge a fortune for $hitty service, that's why! Met with Debbie (the owner), who is the biggest con artist on the face of the earth. I give her some credit for being good at scamming people. They do not give you any time frame to think about investing thousands of dollars. You must make the decision before you leave and when get into your car after signing up and spending money, you will think to yourself what in the **** did you do. I made the mistake in trusting Debbie, which is not like me at all since I don't trust people very easily, but she was very convincing that she would help me "meet the man of my dreams". After I was sucked in, I was pawned off to Donna, who I had never met who will be the match maker, not Debbie who is the initial first contact to scam you. Most of the matches she sent to me were nowhere near what I had asked them to search for such as similar interests, values, and such. I was sent men who didn't like any interests I had, and I was very specific about nonsmokers, but was sent a few that smoked. You also can't see a pic of the person they send you, who does that?!? I was very dissatisfied with this service and when asking for a partial refund, they do not budge one bit and lie and say they sent more referrals than you paid for, which is complete BS. I HIGHLY do NOT recommend this service to anyone unless you want to waste money. They will promise you nothing and will gain income from you! I am extremely unsatisfied with this service. I was at a vulnerable time in my life and the interviewer made it sound almost too good to be true but I took the bait. The men that have been matched for me have zero in common, some were just rude and after 6 months I have yet met anyone face to face. Total scam. Believe all the reviews you read. Survey you for what you're looking for, and pay no attention to it when making a referral. The data base for clients is lacking to say the least, they just want to send you their choices based on making promises. They don't look out for your best interest. I went on 2 connections dates, 1 took me for coffee to tell me he was actually in a relationship, but "still looking", so he kept his profile "open". The other guy, got rip roaring drunk in a public restaurant and starting hitting on the man sitting next to me with his wife at the bar..... I'm filing a small claims court case and going to make an attempt to get the money returned. Most men in the Charleston area I dated were too much into partying and did not have many of the same goals that I did. I used a few dating sites and nothing really worked for me. I wish I would have looked at reviews before signing up for this service. I wasn't sure what to expect. I spent over 3 hours in an interview. Deb makes you feel that you are in the right place and that she totally understand exactly where you are in life. She gives you so much hope that they have all these opportunities for a great match for you. I asked about the cost however that was not discussed until the very end. That should have been my first red flag. When she presented the cost I told her there was no way. She reduced the price and was willing to work out a deal with me. Second red flag. I asked to think about it and of course as a pushing sells person she convinces me to make the decision that night. Plus it was getting late and I just wanted to go home. For the amount of money I paid, I have higher expectation on the service I should received. It is a scam read more

My experience with this company has been horrible!!! I joined on Dec. 7, 2017 after a long term relationship ended. I'm 67 so I felt I would like to be with a partner for the rest of my life. With Debbie's persistent pushing and lies ( sure she does this everyday) and keeping you there for hours, I said hours, I gave in after she kept dropping the price. Hopeful and believing. What a fool I was in a weak moment. After waiting for a match for 6 weeks and hearing nothing. I called and was given a so called match. Another horrible experience. An alcoholic who drank 9 beers in 3 hours, No telling what he may have had to drink before we met. He told me he had been getting dates from them for more than 4 and 1/2 years!!! Doesn't sound like they have been able to match him and just keep passing him around. Possibly even an employee of there's. When I was leaving him he grabbed me and stuck his tongue in my mouth( after telling me he had been sick all night and rubbed his chest against my breast back and forth. The front of my shirt was covered with black from his jacket ( I sent the picture to Debbie). Silly me I thought she would care. I had NEVER in my life heard of anything like it. Shaken I left. I reported to Debbie. Never heard anything back, she said she can't control how others act. (A GOOD LINE) I texted her on Jan 29, never heard anything back. Shortly before Easter I called again, they said they had a match, someone named Mark. I never heard from Mark or them. They NEVER contact you, You have to be able to catch them by surprise and if you do they say the other phone is ringing and they will call back. THEY DO NOT CALL BACK. Try to call them back they do not answer. Sent me an insulting email and asked me to advise them what to do. On and on and on with the crap and lies. STAY AWAY VERY BAD SCAMERS!!! The same thing happened to me in Columbia, SC! I just went to a consultation yesterday. I was tricked into coming in by being told the same thing as another reviewer-"We need younger people like you in our database". After waiting for over an hour and half then having another hour and a half meeting I was told the price was around $5000. When I asked to take the contract home so I could read it because it was 8:45 pm on a Wednesday the sales lady refused and tried to pressure me into signing a contract that night. Major red flag so of course I walked out. The sales lady wouldn't tell me there success rate or the amount of singles in their database- Another red flag! She later called to setup another meeting which I am not attending after reading these other reviews. Thank you so much Yelp reviewers!!! You all have saved me some heart ache once again. read more

I have been a member I this service since October 2015. I have had two referrals in this time frame and though they were nice men we had little in common. Beware! When I called, a person I spoke to over the phone became angry and said " I must follow the rules" when I simply inquired about pricing. I wish I could give them zero stars. I joined several months ago and the experience so far has been horrible. The interview process was so long and involved and detailed - I was there for 3 hours. But their sales talk is so slick and plays to all your emotions that you believe it - you want to believe it with all your heart that you are awesome and someone is going to find you the perfect match. And the cost! I paid over $4000 for 5 referrals. 3 of which I've already received. Two of them I actually met. One backed out before I could even meet him. And the two "dates" I went on? There was absolutely no way that someone who met me even for 5 minutes would have matched me with either of these guys - absolutely nothing in common, could not even keep a conversation going for the length of the date, which was only 30 min in one case. This was supposed to be a step up from online dating, a step up from going it on your own - the interviewer, in fact, made me feel sad and pathetic for ever trying those methods rather than their superior matching system. My god - I could swing a dead cat at the grocery store and find 10 men more suited to me than those I got matched with. I have given very detailed feedback to customer service after each date too, and the only reply I get is, "thanks for the feedback, we'll look for your next match". Clearly they are utterly ignoring everything I've said in my initial interview as well as all the feedback I've given along the way. Of course they are, they already got the money. They only really have a contractual obligation to provide a referral, they don't care at all about the quality of the match or about the experience. Their entire website is BS. The bottom line: my hunch is that they do not have enough people in their database and so to provide matches for all their clients, they will pretty much set you up with any breathing person that has paid their fee (and in my case, I suspect some of these men paid a much lower fee than what I paid judging from their comments - this makes me really angry too). I don't think I can get any money back on this contract, but hoping this review will each a few people. Think hard about whether you want to do this - I wish someone had warned me. Don't let these people prey on your emotions. read more

I wish I would have read these reviews before making the appointment. When I completed the online profile, I received a phone call. I was told "if you can afford online dating, you can afford us." I then received an email with additional information. The email stated "no," they are not expensive. I then went to the interview. Unfortunately, I wasted 2 hours before learning that they DO charge $5,000!!! For this price, you get up to 5 referrals. If you want to meet more than 5 men, expect to pay more. As a result of being "mislead," as well as displaying complete shock on my face, the price was eventually reduced to $1,200. I was encouraged to do something for myself...step out of my cocoon! Quite the pushy salesperson. I left. What kind of business negotiates this kind of price difference for the same "membership?" They appear willing to accept as much as you will pay. Some have paid $5000, and some have likely paid less. I guess paying for matchmaking is similar to buying a car...it's negotiable, and everyone has a price. Do not waste your time with SC Matchmakers! My family, friends, and I were all extremely disappointed in this unprofessional experience. Good luck to all, but I recommend you find another way! read more
