Walked after eating brunch, sat on a bench and enjoyed. The beach is spacious, the water was beautiful, and it's easy to see why so many people return year after year. Whether you're looking to relax, swim, or simply enjoy the scenery, it's a wonderful place to spend the day. Side note: Noticed chair rentals, street parking is metered. You can find non meter parking with more of a walk. It's huge. And tons of restaurants and hotels right across the street.

Great crowd, usually a bit older and not a lot of foolishness going on here. Beach is always clean and water is great. For a one day pass it's $10 but well worth it. All you need is sun and good weather and you have a great day. There is good spots to fish here as well. Parking can be dicey so you might have to walk a bit if you don't get here early.

No elevator which of course is expensive and beyond this small non-profit's ability to afford most likely. They do have a ramp to get into the first floor where the gift shop is. Nice little garden in front and a short nature trail. Go early am to see birds, otherwise it heats up. Be aware that if you have trouble with steps, this may not be your best choice.

I love National Parks…read more Not just because I'm patriotic with an environmentalist sensibility -- but because they are time warps of sorts -- a glimpse back at the way things once were and (hopefully) will be for our descendants -- long downstream. The Cape May National Wildlife Refuge is a pleasant respite from the commercialism of Jersey Shore holidays -- its' boardwalk attractions, fast food and fast living. It is well marked and you can bring your binocs along to spot wildlife and unique plants and flora found nowhere else. Better still -- bike in and hop scotch around between dunes and other natural formations -- but avoid crossing into the restricted areas that are clearly marked by Area 51 type warning signs -- lest you want automatic weapon toting humans rousting you. We walked the trails in sand, alongside more poison ivy in one 2 square mile stretch than I have probably seen in my entire life. Bring bug spray, a fishing pole to cast off the jetty -- and maybe even long pants and an epipen if you are especially sensitive to insect stings and poisonous plants. Free bird watching walks are regularly available and -- thankfully -- it is a relatively unpopulated attraction so it is soulful in its solitude.

Access from the beach is closed off by ropes and volunteers monitor those trying to walk the refuge from April thru September 31st. Protected area for migrating and nesting birds. There is a great trails to see the wildlife refuge. It runs parallel to the beach. Guided tours are available. We saw some great birds this summer landing on the beach! My first spotting of an American Oyster Cracker. I only wish I was able to get a picture, happened so fast. Don't forget your binoculars! The butterfly migration in October is really something to see, nature at its best. We have spotted white skunks, and have seen one coyote.

Contrary to its name, Poverty Beach offers a sumptuous banquet of riches. From the free street parking on the day I came (Tuesday in July) to the clean bathrooms steps from its entrance to its friendly tag seller. I paid $8 for a day tag; it's $15 for three consecutive days and less daily for longer if you plan to beach it. Being a cape, it's very windy so I put my umbrella away. The waves are strong but there are lifeguards until five daily during the season, like now.

You have to drive through…read moremarshland (great birdwatching here if that's your thing), park in a tiny lot, and walk another 15 minutes down an old road to get to the beach. But you'll be rewarded with said birds (bald eagles, herons, and more), horseshoe crabs, and other wildlife. You'll likely have the place to yourself; we only saw two other wildlife photographers, in the parking lot, in the hours we spent here. There are the remains of a beachwall and a house that was removed about 20 years ago, I'm told. There used to be several houses on this beach--apparently those families are still upset about being displaced. You can see the old fireplace and see how the water is trying to reclaim their foundation. Some creative types have made sculptures out of driftwood and beach debris. But mostly it's just uninterrupted shoreline and nature that you can enjoy in solitude. Tip: the most convenient public restroom is back in Dorchester at the Wawa. I recommend a stop there before your visit to this beach.

Thompson's Beach is similar to Moore's Beach in that it's an isolated location without any homes…read morealong the beach, or anywhere nearby. To access this beach, you must drive to a public parking lot (free), and walk a gravel road through marsh for 0.7mi until you reach the beach. There is a lookout platform built adjacent to the parking lot, with didactic panels giving info on the wildlife. Once you reach the beach, it is very natural, and has some brick and stone fill material dumped there, to prevent erosion. There is also what looks like the ruins of an old building, but no signage to indicate exactly what it was. The beach is a decent size for spending time in the sun and sand, but it's very isolated so if any jellyfish sting or other emergency were to occur, you're a 0.7mi walk (or bike ride) to your car, and then several miles from that to get medical attention. No lifeguards anywhere nearby! So IMO, this beach is best explored in the off-season dressed warmly, with sneakers or hiking boots. Vineland is about a 30min drive from this beach. There are many preserves and hiking trails nearby, along with the Maurice River Township biking trails.

The sidewalks are laid out in curves which adds to the already awesome visual beauty. Take a seat on one of the benches and watch the activities on the bay. The road is fully paved to the beach because there are homes at the beach end of it. At one time the road appears to have gone even further but an older gentleman on the beach when I was there said the sea has washed away that extra piece of road, during storm surges. He mentioned that this beach is his favorite for fishing, although I saw people fishing at every bay beach except Cooks Beach. People fish the bay all year. The views of the coast are great at this location, and there is a nice chunk of beach to spend some quality hours hanging out. Kimbles and Cooks Beach are my top Middle Township bay beaches to visit! Definitely worth a trip! Like all of the small Middle Township bay beaches, this feels very remote and private. As with its neighbor beaches, you need to drive out through a stretch of marsh to get to it. There are homes on solid ground at the mouth of the road (by 47), and also as you get out at the beach, but the stretch in between is marshland. Marsh makes for great wildlife but also many bugs, so prep for that in warm months.

This park was recently redone and boy has it been a beautiful renovation. Many people just sit and stare out over beautiful sunset lake on the 40 or more benches from one end of the park to the other. Kids frolic. Seniors meet w friends. Surrounding and adorning the park are many memorials that you should take the time to view. Monuments to veterans and in a little tiny Grassy area on New Jersey Ave. you'll see a tiny memorial to a local resident who was lost on the 9/11 tragedy at WTC. Over the years this has become a photo op for people who are leaving Wildwood crest after their summer vacations. Memories are made here
