Just finished an amazing ADR session with Jim for my second short film. All I can say is, if you need anything recorded or mixed (movies, commercials, music, don't matter), hire him! I was blown away by not only his knowledge, expertise, and dedication to his craft, but his humor and warm personality too. His home studio is superb; clean and professional. He literally has everything he needs to get the job done right. And that's what I loved about working with Jim: he's as fixated on getting it right as I am. He will not produce mediocre work. This is hands down the best recording studio in Arizona for many reasons. First and foremost, the owner and engineer James (Jimmy Boy) Linton, is one of the most genuine kind hearted men I've had the privilege of working with. He cares about your opinion, takes time to connect with your vision and will do anything it takes to make sure our product is stellar and you leave feeling 100% happy. Soundwaves not only helped me grow as an artist, but Jim had helped me develop as a man through his years of wisdom and experience in this industry. About two weeks ago, our sketch comedy group had the opportunity to record with Jim here at Soundwaves. We aren't trying to sell our tracks on iTunes or anything, merely wanted to get a collection of our greatest hits together to sell as a fundraiser. For this reason, we were extremely lucky to be referred to Jim through one of my co-workers. After only a couple of hours, we just knew we were in the right place, Jim's love of the arts is apparent. He is a philanthropist in the truest sense of the word, and he is incredible at what he does. If you book a session with him, you get his expertise in recording, mixing and mastering. His studio is comfortable and even has an isolation booth. Due to having his studio in his home, he is able to charge more than reasonable rates for his talent, and thus help a larger percentage of local talent. I highly recommend his services and will always sing his praises! read more

Meet the Business Owner: James L.

For over 20 years James has been performing, writing, recording, and producing music. He taught guitar and voice lessons privately as well as publicly at Axis Music Academy in Michigan. James currently has four records available on iTunes which have sold in the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, the Former Soviet Union, Scandinavia, China, Australia and Japan. James has been featured multiple times showcasing his guitar talent on Good Morning Arizona. James has performed at over 40 reputable locations in the valley, opened for Peter Frampton in CA, was acclaimed by Wayne Newton as a "class act" and immediately invited to Las Vegas to perform. Additionally, James was the sole performance act of the pre-Superbowl party for the New York Giants in 2008. Since then his focus and passion has turned to all he does as an entrepreneur at Soundwaves. Additionally, he is a contributing editor at MusicPlayers.com who specializes in reviewing audio gear.

Brand new, isolated A/C units for each individual room. Tube equipment. And if you want they'll record your practice session and send you what you did at the end of the night for free. My band 3iDragon records drums and vocals here and we've never been disappointed. The owner Shane and his staff are the most down to earth and experienced people we've ever worked with. Everyone I spoke to was really nice, and I was able to get my flute serviced quickly. The instrument repair person is there on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They did a pretty good job, but definitely didn't polish my flute, which I was kind of disappointed about, especially since I asked it to be thoroughly cleaned (this was also indicated on my service ticket they typed up). I was able to polish it myself after I got it back with a silver polishing cloth that I had to purchase. They have a huge variety of instruments, accessories, and books! It does seem to be more catered to guitars/percussion, but they still had a decent selection for woodwinds and brass. They also have tons of teachers that do private lessons. I will definitely be returning if I need anymore repairs done, as they did a nice job with those!

Rarely, rarely publicly stamp anything buuut yo. Soundwaves provides a fantastically professional and comfortable recording experience. Both Jim and Leo are craftsmen at what they do. * Studio is comfortable, warm and has a great vibe. * Jim is laid back, easy going and a funny guy who genuinely cares about you and your vision. * Jim has a wealth of knowledge I would highly recommend tapping into that. * Best studio in Arizona hands down. 100% Highly recommend Soundwaves Productions. If you record at Soundwaves and walk away unhappy maybe GarageBand in your bedroom is more appropriate. Jim is an incredible producer, composer and of course mix/master engineer. He is soo kind and insightful. There were so many times I wanted to make one decision, and he advised a different way of doing it. I was stubborn of course, and wanted to do it my way, but in the end like he had said, it ended up not sounding the way I wanted it to. He really has high integrity when it comes to trying to save you money and has experience and knowledge like I've never seen. read more
