During colonial times from the early 16th century through the mid-19th century, the music of Mexico's indigenous nations were influenced by the musical styles of Spanish colonists and the African slave population to form the music now called Mariachi. After the end of the Mexican revolution in the 1920's, the government began promoting Mexican folk music as a source of national pride. It is around this time that the Mariachi costumes became elaborate taking inspiration from Jalisco charros, Mexican ranchers and cowboys. By the middle of the 20th century, mariachi music had made its way into US culture, first in California, then throughout the southwest, and eventually throughout the nation. Mariachi has now become one of the most recognizable Latin music types. Carrying the Mariachi torch in South Florida is the Mariachi Show Mexicanisimo. This musical group can be hired to perform at your private events including birthdays, weddings, and other celebrations. I was able to watch them perform at a friends milestone birthday celebration. The singers had great harmony and they can sing in both Spanish and English. They offer 30 and 50 minute performances. What a difference a year makes! Last year after having a disastrous first meeting with an event…read morecompany, I called Motiv8 Events. Jeff Gold was absolutely wonderful! The company ended up providing DJ/MC and decor services for my son's Bar Mitzvah at a reasonable price. I was very impressed with Jeff's commitment to service. Deadlines were always met. Jeff even once went out of his way to come down to my area so he could meet with me and my son. We loved the decor. The MC, Spyder, was very good, although I think he could have done a little better job entertaining the kids. I was very pleased with Motiv8's services in 2016. Fast forward a few months later.....We are getting ready for Bar Mitzvah number two. I had no doubt that I was going to call Motiv8 for a second round. They had earned my business. Jeff told me all the "Mitzvahs" were being run by Laurie Caradonna. I met with Laurie once and I believe she sent me a contract. Before I signed I needed to make sure Motiv8 could do my decor. They now did not know if they could do a decor job for less than $5000! Sharon and the Decor depart were a disaster with follow up and made me feel like the most unimportant customer in the world. It took forever for Sharon to return my calls and when she did finally got back to me with something, it was stuff I could have looked up myself on Pinterest. After an acceptable design was submitted, we went back and forth on several items on the contact. Sharon never returned my calls. It was one excuse after the other. First it was Hurricane Irma, then Halloween. Every other event was more important than mine. I could not even get Laurie or a Sharon's assistant to return my calls. I finally called Jeff, explained what was going on. After he told me about how busy they were with other events (!), he did say he would make sure Sharon and Laurie would get back to me. It was probably a month before Sharon got back to me and by that time I had moved on to another event company. I certainly did not feel like a priority while working with Motiv8 this time. Obviously, Motiv8 was not interested in doing my event. Their website states, "No event is too large or too small". Unfortunately, I found this to be the case last year but not this year. And what a shame as they did such a nice job last year!

Each employee I met was professional and amazing. Beginning- They have a guarded gate so don't forget your ID. (Yes you guessed it, I forgot mine.) Inside the front desk, they ask again for your information. WPBT houses many tv shows and they are a class act in organization and communication. They broadcast PBS in Miami/Fort Lauderdale, also Palm Beach area WXEL-TV and WURH-CD in Miami. So basically they have viewers in all of south Florida. 1200th review and this is why I chose this as my review. A neat/ unique experience that I highly enjoyed. I was happy to experience the recording and be part of it.

At first, we thought it was just where we were sitting, so we moved to another area, but the fruit flies were still everywhere. I mentioned it to our waitress, and she said it's something they always have, which was disappointing to hear. This was my second visit, and I don't remember noticing it the first time. Maybe it wasn't as noticeable because there were more people smoking. This time, though, it was impossible to ignore and made it difficult to relax and enjoy the experience. The lounge has a great atmosphere and is a really nice place to hang out. I hope they take care of the fruit fly issue because I'd like to come back.

Of course we were the only women in there but were treated very respectfully and graciously by Stephan, one of the owners. He is so sweet!! (And his French accent made him even more charming ;-) He has a wonderful selection of cigars, lots of brands, and different strengths of cigars. He made great recommendations and made sure we got exactly what we were looking for. Had we not been traveling by plane he was going to gift us some cigar matches. The lounge is very dapper and I love the walk to get there, so tropical! I ended up getting a My Father Grand Robusto, and a Padron Anniversary Series. If I lived in Florida, I would make the trek to stop by here and enjoy a great cigar, in a classy environment.
