Sound start provides exactly that, a sound start! Breastfeeding for my little one and I did not come naturally or easily for us. I did a home birth and was expecting everything to just be so natural and smooth with breastfeeding, but it wasn't. I had luckily taken the prenatal breastfeeding class from sound start and had some good tips to keep me on track for the first day. I realized I needed more help and called sound start, a Lactation counselor was at my house within a couple of hours. This made a world of difference for us! Aditi is wonderful! She came to my home on such short notice and helped me try to latch my newborn. He really struggled and so I was pumping and syringe feeding him. A few days later she came back and we started using the shield to help him latch which worked great. After a few months he finally took to breastfeeding on his own - he's now 15 months old and still breastfeeding like a champ. I could not have figured it out or be able to breastfeed this long without her help during my postpartum experience. My husband and I both cried as she helped us because we were so stressed and frustrated with him not latching. She was always available by text for extra advice and offers various classes. I participated in Sound Start's prenatal breastfeeding course and one-on-one home consultations. The breastfeeding course was incredibly informative. The environment was professional and I left feeling much less anxious and very empowered. Due to latch issues I met with Aditi several times for personalized home visits. These were lifesavers for me and very affordable! Aditi is extremely knowledgeable and taught me some easy adjustments to impliment and they worked. She then followed up with calls and texts to see how I was doing. As I continued to have issues arise regarding plugs, pumping, milk storage, hormones, etc., I always found support and incredibly useful training from Aditi. If it hadn't been for Sound Start, I would have given up on my desire to breastfeeding within the first month! It can be hard! And as a first time mom I was so stressed about getting a good latch and constantly worried about whether I was producing enough milk for my baby. Sound Start helped me with in home breast feeding education/counseling when my baby was 3 months old. Aditi was professional and personable. She made me feel so comfortable and totally helped to renew my confidence that our breast feeding journey could continue. She answered my first call on the spot and we had a visit the same day. Aditi was so helpful. She found that my baby had a tongue and lip tie, and recommended me to a great dentist to get it revised. She was very personable and sweet and knowledgeable on how to help me boost my pumping supply. She is conveniently located in the office of a Webster certified pediatric chiropractor, which is a bonus! Aditi teaches a breastfeeding class as well. Aditi was just what I needed after my first baby was born and he had been in the NICU for two weeks. She helped me figure out how to go from total pumping to breast feeding since my baby had been bottle fed in the hospital.
