I called to discuss pain management for the procedure, because no one had called me to go over anything about the procedure. I asked what their pain management was for a colposcopy. I explained that I have panic attacks and that I was worried about the pain and didn't want to have a panic attack from working myself up about it either. I was told they don't have a pain management plan for colposcopies, that I would only feel a cramp. When I told the nurse I was speaking to that I have been in the room while someone was getting this exact procedure done and it was much more than a cramp, she said that I might be confusing it was a leep. I did not have words. I am expressing to her, a nurse, that I have watched someone experience this painful procedure and she tells me I must be confused. THESE PROCEDURES CAN BE PAINFUL! Go on Reddit and read real women's experiences with this procedure, these can be traumatic and we are only told that it will feel like a cramp.
