The nurse replied"Yes it is."My wife replied back to her"You tell Dr.Goodman,I heard everything he said. And he is arrogant and should not talk about any patient in that manner.I am going to report him to the medical profession."(And she will) He then came back and had me wave my arms up,down, back, and forth, turn my head side to side,up,and down. Then had me stick out my hands and spread my fingers, and hold my palms out while he ran this little wheel thing down the index fingers in both hands, and asked"does that feel the same on both hands"My reply was"yes".He then said "we are done here"and left the office with me standing there baffled. He did not even touch or feel my back, shoulder,or neck.In the mean time my wife was still mad as hell,at the arrogance of this jerk.He is just pond scum. That`s being nice.I have had other doctors give me evaluations on my back, neck, and shoulder. But not in such a piss poor manner. If you think of ever going to see this Orthopedic jerk, think again.Don`t waste your time with his Arrogant incompetence. He does not even deserve a 1 star vote, but I guess you have to put something in order to get the word out.

I took my son to see Dr Goodman for follow up X-rays for a broken foot. We arrived on time. The…read morereceptionist was nice and checked us in. While we were sitting in the waiting room 2 patients who arrived after us were taken back to exam rooms. When I enquired why, the receptionist said it was because they didn't need X-rays. Well, Dr Goodman saw them and then sent them for x-rays, so now we were waiting for then to be seen before us. After waiting for 30 mins I asked again what was taking so long and was told that the machinery had gone offline for 5 mins, holding everything up. The nurses then took another 2 patients back to exam rooms. I then overheard a conversation between the X-ray tech and the nurses about how all the exam rooms were full so the patient in the xray room would have to wait there until a room was free. A nurse then explained to Dr Goodman that I was concerned about how long this was taking, he said in a loud obnoxious voice, that carried through the entire facility that if we couldn't be bothered to wait then we could just rebook and to make sure that we didn't get an appointment for another 2 weeks as he couldn't stand people who complained. I let the receptionist know that I overheard the doctor and I felt it was rude and insufferable as our delay had been mostly due to their incompetence in managing the patient flow, we had not been seen 45 mins after our appointment time. We left and we will not be back. My son got his xray the same day, somewhere else, where he was treated with the same courtesy as every other patient. Dr Brennan used to run this practice until he retired. He was wonderful and always had a smile on his face. Such a pity that his legacy is being tarnished.

With the recent changes in the delivery of medicine, more patients are being seen by physician extenders. I do feel there is a role for these providers in delivering Orthopedic care. However, in order for me provide the highest level of care, I need to see and examine my patients on every visit, making the most efficient use of my time and more importantly the patient's time. I believe this is especially important in Orthopedic Surgery as a "hands on" physical exam and face-to-face discussion is crucial in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of Orthopedic conditions. I realize that this is not perhaps the most efficient or cost-effective way to deliver care, but it is how I choose to deliver care. Spending more time with individual patients allows me to better understand their symptoms and specific goals in seeking treatment. I enjoy interacting with patients, getting to know them and not just their injury. Over the last 25 years the changing reality of medicine has made spending time with each patient increasingly more difficult. From talking with my patients, most would prefer to see and interact with their doctor on every visit. Meeting in a relaxed environment, not feeling rushed, able to ask questions. With the creation of this practice, I can maintain quality care and continue to practice medicine the best way I know how.
