Long version: I was originally apprehensive because I couldn't find any reviews for Dana, and when I saw she worked 16 years as a midwife I worried she would be like some of my previous psychiatrists/doctors who made me feel uncomfortable about not wanting children or about being gay. But I really needed an appointment ASAP and she was the soonest available so I went out on a limb and I am sooo glad I did. Dana was absolutely wonderful. I have very bad anxiety and find it difficult to talk to people and I'm easily put off, but Dana was incredibly easy to talk to, kind, understanding, and she made me feel comfortable right away. I never felt judged, dismissed, or pressured. I felt listened to and respected, which made a huge difference. You can really tell she cares! I highly recommend paperflower to anyone. Janet is not a counselor, she's not there to talk about your feelings or give you "homework" to make you feel better. She's there to manage your medication and ensure that it is working as it should. She's not a teddy bear, but she is friendly and professional and intelligent about what she does; I'll take that any day. I've found that Janet is not typically late and she expects you to be on time as well. If you are late, she reduces your appointment time so she's not late for the next patient. This is how it should be in my opinion, as I don't want my schedule mucked up because you couldn't be on time. If you're looking for someone who is simply amazing at what she does and who gets results, I highly recommend Janet Callahan.

I would never suggest anyone going here after my experience this morning with Dr.Drake. I have a…read moredegree in social work and have been a little apprehensive starting therapy because I worry it would just be things I have already told myself or came to the realization of in past classes and in my line of work. In the end, while very emotional, I asked for some concrete details on future sessions and how it would be effective. This apparently offended her as she stood up and told me I could have her refer me to someone else and walked out. She didn't even give me a second to collect myself, shake my hand, or look me in the eye as she very quickly said bye. I was then forced to be in front of a group of strangers still crying while I paid my co pay. I was embarrassed and felt that someone who has been in this industry as long as Dr.Drake should understand why people want to know their treatment is going to be effective as it can be expensive and takes time out of their day. I left feeling guilty and hurt which is not how an individual should leave a therapy session. Dr. Drake if you don't enjoy your work do not push that onto clients/patients.

I contacted Michelle and she said that my wife is very guarded about her issues and the likelihood is that she doesn't want to work on herself. Michelle was correct. In hindsight I regret we agreed to such a long initial session. I think we should have limited our initial session to an hour or two. It could have flushed out my wife's lack of willingness and commitment to counseling and saved us an enormous amount of money with no positive result.

She navigated me through my problems by showing me a new perspective that I would have never thought about. She made me realize the power of mindfulness and how to see opportunities even in the darkest times of our lives. She gave me homework exercises for the mind that really worked well for me. Unlike most business, she is actually there when we need her even after the sessions and that made me understand how genuinely she cares about her clients. This was my first time going to see any type of therapist, wanted to give this a try to help with…read moresome anxiety I have experienced over the past year. I went for a total of 3 sessions, had no true expectations but open-minded going in. In the 1st session, I would say 80-85% of the time Kate was doing the talking. Not saying it was not important info or intentional, but thought the client would have done most talking. I left feeling the 1st session, not the most optimistic but still open-minded to continue. 2nd session was a lot better as I got the chance to really talk and open up more, letting out some emotional baggage which I believe is what I was truly looking for. After each session, she emailed me an MP3 to listen for better quality sleep. Honestly, it worked so I was ok with that result. In the last session, I remember we were talking about something and I had I asked for more clarity on what she meant and to me was a snarky/annoyed attitude that she came back with. I noticed this snarky attitude several times from the first time we spoke. Never in a disrespectful way, but enough to me where it was very surprising and not reassuring at all coming from a professional therapist/counselor. Some final thoughts- I was never hypnotized, she gave me the option but felt persuaded to listen to the mp3 only. I was ok with that and would say that worked so overall no issue here. I have not received one call/email asking about how I have been. Our last session was in Feb/March 2020. Just a bit surprising because during the final session she stated that she wanted to continue to work together & she would call before and after upcoming sessions. No word yet. Again don't think this was the best fit for myself, I do not regret going was a very good learning/growth experience. But this is my honest review.

Now we usually see her individually and talk later together. She has, in just a few session reply helped me understand what really is upsetting me and most of the time it wasn't even my husband!! we enjoy her honesty, never chooses sides and allows us really insightful loving ways to manage the outside world. All the while protected our relationship from anything that hurts our goals together. We will probably never stop therapy and see it as important as any other healthcare.
