Sottoterra is located at Streamsong Golf Resort near Bowling Green, Florida. The restaurant is an elevator ride or winding staircase walk down one level below the complimentary valet parking level at the main entrance. Both the staircase and elevator bring you directly to the host station. The decor is classy and sophisticated. Smart Casual is the preferred attire and hats are discouraged but button-down collar and slacks feel more appropriate. A suit coat would not be out of place either. The menu options may seem a bit slim but I think I would enjoy just about everything they have to offer. I'm not offended by the prices. The staff came out of the woodwork constantly and made us feel very welcomed and pampered. The carbonara pizza is oh so good and I'm not too sure it's not the best pizza I've ever eaten. The old fashion could not have been better and the swan stamp in the crystal clear ice cube showed you just the kinda class this place is made of. My Highest Recommendation! read more

Had dinner here the last night before going home. The positive was definitely the meatball appetizer. It's a perfect start to the meal. I had the prosciutto flat bread which was ok but definitely not my favorite. The service was good. No issues there. No televisions to watch anything at the bar. The dessert menu is pretty mild with nothing that really stood out. There are definitely better options on the property. read more

The prices though are through the roof and for that type of price you would think it would be warmed up, big portions and delicious, and it was but my pasta wasn't warm and the appetizer portion was slim. This was overpriced and intensely mediocre. They do serve you bread, which has become more unusual at restaurants for some reason. But, it was not a great focaccia (diners at my table that had skipped lunch didn't opt for a second piece). I ordered the "wild mushroom soup" to start, which had the texture of applesauce or thick Greek yogurt. One whole mushroom laid at the bottom and there was some baked cheese crisp for texture. Meh. A friend of mine ordered the meatball appetizer, which was literally a pound (yes, your appetizer is a pound!) of under-seasoned ground meat in red sauce topped with a dollop of ricotta. And for my main course, I had the burratta ravioli in a "truffle cream sauce." When asked, the waitress said that the pasta was not made fresh - and you could tell. Reader, these ravioli didn't have anything on the ones I find in the refrigerated section at Greenwise. The thick sauce was smeared on sparingly, with little hint of truffle. Why am I leaving a brutal review? Because it was billed as a fine dining restaurant, and was therefore expensive. I didn't get what I paid for. I might go for a Publix ravioli and their mushroom soup from the hot bar; but I would expect to pay $15 for it, also. read more

We had an amazing experience at Sottoterra! We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. They greeted us with a beautiful confetti heart and champagne glasses and anniversary card signed by the entire staff. My husband brought in a special bottle of champagne and they handled it and chilled it beautifully. The waitstaff was attentive and par none. Dinner was delicious but the homemade tiramisu for dessert was the best ever! We will definitely come again. read more

Bread is warm and flakey by not sliced too thick. No butter but ricotta and tomato spreads are flavorful and combine well or stand alone apart. Decent bourbon selection and wine pricing is priced high to match the overall feel of resort Gnocchi More like dough than pillowy and slightly crispy on top layer of tower. The mushroom accompanying sauce is divine and perfectly salted. The two plated nicely even though I wish the Gnocchi itself was more light and in smaller links. Risotto Rice is soft yet firm, sauce and seasoning are both delicious and temperature is on point. Looks wise it seems like a mix of baked beans and dog food without a hint of the mushrooms or other veggies until you dig into the bowl. If you can get beyond the initial look of the dish, without garnish or accompanying bread or cracker, it is a delight. Portion control is also on point but a bit pricey for the portion sizes. read more

Let me start by saying there was only 6pm reservations available. Before we sat, we asked if there was anything available a little later as we ate shortly after our round of golf ended around 2. Was informed they were "booked" and nothing was available later, only to see 3 other tables sat in the hour and half we were there. We brought a nice bottle of wine and took advantage of their $25 corkage fee, however we had to ask for a decanter and ended up pouring our own wine all night. The entire evening we felt like we were trying to be rushed out. Within 5 minutes of being seated and before the wine was poured, we were asked if were ready to order. Being that neither of us were overly hungry we shared a gnocchi appetizer and the Osso Bucco entire. Both dishes were very rich and very flavorful however, found a couple of small bones in the lamb. When asked about the bones, the dinning room manager had no explanation, and she didn't seem to be interested to find out about it. Wasn't looking for a discount just confirmation that it was a piece of the shank that was a part of the dish not something else. On our way out explained our dissatisfaction but no apology was made despite the lack of an explanation. Overall food was good, but service was less than average. Next visit will try some of the other dining options. read more

Came for a business dinner, but the atmosphere was really suited for romantic dining. Dress up for this experience, it's not casual by any means. Great wine list with wines from around the world. I ordered one of my favorites--Traviglini Gattinara. Started with warm Focaccia bread, Carpaccio and house-made Burrata. Artistic presentation and very flavorful. For the entree, I had Osso Bucco. It was prepared perfectly, the the accompanying Gremolata may have been the best I've ever tasted. The subtle orange flavor was perfect with the Veal. Finished the meal with the Chocolate Almond cake and it went very well with the last of the wine. This restaurant is a hidden gem. You'll likely have to stay at the Resort, as I did, to avoid a long drive home. read more

Our party of 10 was seated at the "Chef's table" which was gorgeous. The only problem was that we only had 1 server. She was really sweet and although we enjoyed her, you could tell she was completely overwhelmed. We waited over 30 minuets for a bottle of wine, our mixed drinks had to be re-made and the food took over an hour and a half to arrive at our table (this was after the appetizers that came out in a timely manner). We constantly had to clean up and stack our own plates. As far as the taste of the food, the giant meatball was really delicious. The chicken dish I had was bland, the lamb was pretty good as was the spicy pasty dish but the fish serving was really small. It was a beautiful atmosphere but we were underwhelmed for the prices we paid. Hopefully they get it together because I would totally give them another chance with maybe just two of us. read more

Sottoterra is the class establishment at Streamsong resort. We started with the one pound meatball. Yes! One pound. It's extraordinary. Sauce beautiful with a dollop of ricotta cheese on top. The meatball was so moist and flavorful. Worth every penny. My wife a lovely magherita pizza while I went with the Bucatini pepperoncini. Just fabulous. The hazelnut butter cake topped off a great evening. The two golf courses aren't half bad either. Lol! read more

The food overall was very good. The atmosphere was very nice. For our main dishes we had scallops and the pork chop. Both were very good. As an appetizer, we shared a Caesar salad, and it was skimpy and poor at best. With respect to the service, it was NOT good. Servers need to be trained better. When we headed to the table, the server handed us our memes before we even sat down. Once seated, we were never asked if we wanted a drink. While eating dinner, the overall level of server attention was poor. read more

We had a reservation at 7:00PM on Saturday and the first to be in the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and the food was very good. Service was of excellent manners. It's just too bad the food was very slow coming out of the kitchen. We had an appetizer followed by a salad, both of which came out timely. Then we waited 40 minutes after we were finished with our salads before the entree arrived. There seemed to be ample bodies, so I cannot figure out why it took so long. Food quality was average. Way overpriced for what is supposed to be a special occasion restaurant at Streamsong. The service was so so, the food was ok, and the environment was mediocre. On the last aspect, a party of 8 was very noisy and impacted the evening for the other diners. By the way, the gents were all in shorts - so much for any semblance of formality... When I mentioned this to the manager, he just made excuses about the acoustics of the restaurant and did nothing. The food itself seemed a bit salty, and we're not convinced that the seafood wasn't frozen. Overall, we loved Streamsong, but don't see the point of returning to Sottotera. read more

Went with a large group and tasted plenty, Margarita pizza, beef Carpaccio, and the bread with sautéed garlic were all great appetizer choices. Ordered the whole fish, but tried the halibut, and pasta with fennel sausage and all were great. Enjoyed my fish the most. Tried the lamb as well but I have had better. The server how ever did not know anything about the wines, all I was asking was the difference between two they offered by the glass, nothing crazy. This is a repeat visit. Came last year and enjoyed the superb service and food. Again we had a wonderful experience. Food is 11 out of a scale of 10. The Burratta Mozzarella and the scallops wow! We spent a wonderful weekend at Streamsong Resort highlighted by dinner at Sottoterra. Dinner began with great wine selections and the meatball appetizer which was bursting with flavor in a sauce that accented the flavor. We enjoyed pasta dishes as a main course - I enjoyed the prawns on a bed of angel hair pasta. Everything was prepared perfectly and the desserts were the perfect ending. As bad as my experience was with the P2O5 restaurant upstairs I had low expectations when we headed downstairs to Sottoterra. Fortunately this restaurant was fantastic in every way. The service was excellent from our seating to the end of the meal. There was an excellent expansive wine list covering all of the major Italian wine growing areas with solid choices representing each of these areas and nice wine by the glass choices. My wife and I split a pepperoni and fennel sausage flatbread which was very well done. My wife had a their take on a caprese salad for her main course while I tried the veal osobucco. The salad was interesting and original. The veal was perfectly prepared and very tasty. All in all an excellent experience which rejuvenated my hopes for Streamsong dining experiences. read more

This place is completely located on a delightful piece of property; and they create a restaurant with ZERO view. I'd highly recommend to not come here; save your money and time to go elsewhere. We had the Ahi Tuna; was probably the worst I have had and at the same time was very pricey. My wife had the rack of lamb; and I had the filet; we were both disappointed. This place tries to position itself as a 5-star destination; and it is a wild miss. Do not get caught up in the positive reviews; anybody who can look past a nice Andrew Lloyd Wright-like architecture (and one not optimized for the land for which it is located); knows this is a bold attempt, but is nowhere close to 5-star. My expectations, which were already tailored back; were nowhere close to being met. Caveat; this place is meant for good-ole-boy network of golfing buddies. If that is what you desire; good luck. If you are not part of this club; skip this place. Seriously, skip this place. read more

Super friendly staff, excellent and enthusiastic service. We had as an appetizer the arancini (4 pieces) they were great. The entrees: whole fish ( branzino), bones were removed perfectly, prepared and tasted excellent. Also, the osso buco was good on top of a wonderful risotto with truffle sauce. There was a large group seated in the main ( small ) dining room that was having a great time, but the loud acoustics of the room took away from the dining experience. read more
