McGinty Auction House is run by a young woman named Justine and her family. It is a small, locally…read moreowned business in the Clinton area- and one that I'm always happy to support. You can tell the small group of employees are a tight-knit group that really do always try to put their best foot forward. I've looked through the items this auction house offers multiple times and I'm always really impressed with their array. They have everything from furniture to home décor to tools to lawn equipment to gardening supplies to toys and games and collectables. Literally everything. Whether you love antiques, resell items, or want something new for your home at a ridiculously affordable price; this is the place to get it. They hold auctions weekly and are always very professional in the way they handle everything. Everything is clearly and neatly displayed and pictures are even posted on their Facebook group so you can get an idea of everything they are offering and decide if there are items you'd like to bid on up for grabs. Most auction houses now-a-days are still a bit 'old school' so I REALLY appreciate the fact that they advertise a lot of their items online so I can get a fair idea of what they are offering before I make the trip to Clinton. I haven't seen any other auction house that also posts great high-quality photos of their items online. I've discussed with Justine about her selling my items, and she's been very honest with me about the way she does business and has offered me her services in a fair manner. Compared to other auction houses I've spoken with, McGinty Auctions definitely has the friendliest reps and they're always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty in ensuring all of my questions are answered, and my concerns are addressed. Every time I call they pick up their phone and they're more than happy to talk me through everything. Whether you're looking to sell a lot of your old things, or you want to bid on some new things- this auction house is by far the best in the Illinois / Iowa area. I've been to a few different auction houses and this one always stands out as the one that offers the best service, the most diverse array of items, and the best prices. They have A LOT of furniture that can be upcycled for a profit- and also a ton of great items to sell on eBay. Totally worth visiting when you have some spare change to spend. There's always a treasure to be found here!

Reschedule was necessary due to life-threatening weather conditions. Not a single walkway, drive or entry had been plowed on the new pick up day. Seemed very unprofessionals and ill-equipped to be offering internet auction options. Item descriptions were not accurate, many items were damaged and unusable without disclosure. images did not match titles.& more

I chose Heartland Estates and Auctions because they had better reviews…read morethan many, prompt communication and the fact I was able to secure a quick estate sale on the calendar. We agreed the estate sale would take place July 24-26 because Kenny was going to be on vacation the previous week. Unfortunately the crew went ahead and did the sale the previous week without my knowledge or apparently the knowledge of the owner- who was out of the country. When I was finally able to communicate with the owner I pushed for the sale to be two weeks (Thursday-Saturday sales.) Kenny agreed to this and was apologetic. Thank you, Kenny! What I was not told was that the sales the second week were going to be a fire sale, with discounts starting at 75% off. The items were sold at a pittance of their value. Regarding the sale itself...the items were not well organized for the sale with things not priced in an easy to understand manner. The kitchen counters were left dirty and it was not a welcoming sale environment. I was unhappy with the amount that we made on the sale and I believe it is because the marketing was incorrect. Many more people would have come on day one if the sale had been held on the correct dates. Also, I would never had agreed to having all items during the second week of the sale go for over 50% off. I was told a guy was going to pick up the leftover items and everything that was left was "trash." A sweet neighbor took truckloads of the remaining things to Salvation Army and other local thrift stores. She also filled a medium sized dumpster. I had understood that anything that was not refuse was going to be removed by Kenny and the team. That was not the case. I do think the idea of the sale being Thursday-Saturday instead of Friday-Sunday hurts the amount the sales bring in as well. By the time most have the chance to shop, the sale is at 50% off, which is not a good situation for the estate sale sales total.

The auctioneer and the item displays are fine. But letting…read morepeople sit in chairs and on stools right at the table is ridiculous. They park themselves well before the sale starts, and WON'T MOVE so you can look things over! They act like you are trying to take food off the plate in front of them if you try to see around them. Then,if you happen to be standing at the next table, where they seem to think they own the spot, they will shove their stool/chair up against you until you move! Unbelievable rude people shopping this auction. I don't think we will attend again until this practice is stopped. Regulars or not, they are hurting business. Ask them at the food trailer, they hear complaints constantly.

I'd recommend them for anyone needing an auction of an estate. Going to their facility is always a treat. The building is nothing to look at (and I will say their parking lot is sometimes scary in the winter. I'm terrified of ice and sometimes I've seen some areas that could do with salt) but it doesn't need to be fancy to accomplish what they do. If I had one complaint it would be they should try to find some way to make parking better. On "big" auction days you can end up parking on the side of the road a block away. They always have things laid out nicely so you can see everything clearly and do their best to keep things that belong together in the right spots. The auctioneer is usually the same guy, Tyler, and he is very good at what he does. His helpers hold up items, bring them to you to look at closer if you missed it the first time around, and will gladly separate something out if you want to bid individually instead of having it as part of a lot. They always start up things like chainsaws or lawn mowers so you can see them run and will tell you if something isn't working and they will tell you if something is damaged. They seem to know a lot about different things (like what the collectibles are and what's worth the big bucks) Best of all, they will let the crowd know if they're getting too rowdy and loud and tell people to go outside if they're just going to stand there and make noise.
