My first experience at a Mexican supermarket. You'll find everything you need here (whether you're staying at a hotel or other types of lodgings), at 1/4 or less of the prices at your hotel / resort. They sell fruits, beer, chips, snacks, candy, chocolate, baked goods, juice, drinks, etc. I really enjoyed the bakery which had several items that great starter breakfast items. You can buy a six pack of corona for about $100 pesos, for those days you don't want or need cocktail drinks from the resort. The fruit selection is small, but I recommend the mangos if you have the patience to cut and serve. Mango juices are good too, but will be heavy to carry back to the hotel since they are in glass containers. Bring shopping backs or a large backpack!

Been coming here the past 8-9 yrs or whenever we visit Cancun. And sadly I've seen the quality and selection go down over the years. They use to make churros & have all sorts of baked Mexican breads, cupcakes & pastries. Sadly all they had was a few donut selections & 1 pastry. And they have little to no meats, you almost have to get there early to get something decent. Good booze selection & great prices. Best place to get groceries reasonably priced in hotel zone. If you get there early enough the fried chicken in their deli counter is yummy! They now carry Kerrygold butter too!

Took a 15-minute walk from my hotel to the Kukalcan Plaza and this Soriana Super supermarket. Alcohol was at the top of my sweetie's grocery list while I was looking for snacks! Checkout was slow as there were lots of people from nearby hotels probably doing the same thing as us. Well maintained store and plenty of bulky & heavy products for us to carry back to the hotel for our stay. So much so that we had to take a 5-minute 180 pesos taxi ride back. There was also an option to take the public transit bus for 12 pesos per person.

Bugs on Pasta

They sell Pasta with bugs in them, and the bugs we alive. The bag was sealed and must have come from the pasta manufacturer. Standards in Mexico are not as high as in Europe or the USA.

This is a nice addition to the area. Looking for something you can't find at 7-Eleven or OXXO. We were pleasantly surprised to find it had opened in November 2014. Make sure you check out the bakery area. We loaded up on some treats. Great cookies and fruit pies. The fresh fruit has a great selection and we grabbed a few oranges and plums to enjoy on the beach. Huge selection of wine and liquors. Just a quick note, it is customary to tip the associate bagging your purchases.

It is *upstairs* at the Kulkukan Plaza. We wandered around for a bit of a while trying to find it. Good selection. Within walking distance of many hotels. Super friendly staff. Apparently they will also deliver to your hotel/room, but we didn't partake in that service. If nothing else, go to the bakery and get like ONE OF EVERYTHING. Suuuuper inexpensive, fresh pastries. Breakfast and snacks for days!

Alcohol FYI prices are in pesos (17.55 pesos equals $1 US dollar)

Small compared to others. Good sales considering it is tourist central. Handy to get staples when on vacay.

Very good value. Better alternative, when staying in hotel in Mexico. Instead of buying in hotel stores or convenience stores.

A tub of mango, pineapple, or watermelon was only two dollars each! They also had a lot of baked goods that looked yummy and a small food court. I also tried the flan, which was very delicious and not too sweet (which is how I like it). Overall, great grocery store! I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area.

It's a regular supermarket, but I suspect that the locals don't shop here at all. The prices are pretty high, and much of the food isn't quite practical. This is a two story grocery store- not counting the parking. Be sure that you don't miss the top floor, where all the liquor and food hall is. Nom! Parking is on the bottom floor. They sell you validation at the cash register. Beware- the grocery bagger is looking for tips. My favorite part of the supermarket is all the cheap Mexican gifts they sell, with clearly marked prices. Actually, many of them are cheaper than the flea market down the way, because you don't have to haggle and deal with the cat calls from the clerks. Beware of the touts selling excursions and whatnot at the entrance. Just because they're in a supermarket doesn't mean they can't take advantage of gringos. This supermarket gets awfully busy in the afternoon. The aisles are narrow. It's best to come at an off time.

Chedraui was definitely the best grocery store on the island as far as selection. Eggs are cheaper than in USA and so delicious. My kids loved the pastry section-- so fresh each morning. Tip: you pick up a large metal platter, use the tongs to select your pastries, and take them to the register at the back to be packaged and priced. Note that you need to bring your own grocery bags and cannot carry in a backpack. If you do you have to leave it at the customer service counter. Chedraui also has anything you may have forgotten for the beach -- hats, sunglasses, sunscreen. Centrally located on the island. We often walked there and then took a cab back with our groceries.

If you are from the US or Canada, there will definitely be some comforts of home that you will need to substitute or do without. Also, there are other things that you may be used to buying that they simply do not have. For example, milk is not available in 1 gallon containers. Coffee creamer is hit or miss. We used cooking cream that was vanilla flavored. They do seem to always have hazelnut creamer if you can live with that instead. Grocery stores in Mexico also have a full selection of liquor. The tequila selection here is greater than what I have seen in a liquor store in the US. This grocery store is also the local appliance center, home goods, and moped dealer but I doubt if you are buying any of that stuff while you are here for your extended stay. They do take credit cards and do not charge you a conversion fee upfront. If you have an elderly person bagging groceries with the checkout person, please tip them. They are not employed and your tip is their wage. Bottom line - This is the largest and best grocery store on Isla Mujeres. It is our go-to location for almost anything we need for our extended stays.

Perhaps they should take a look at the duty free liquor store at the Cancun airport to get a clue? Like most liquor and grocery stores in Cancun, they have a good supply of inferior tequila to try to take advantage of the tourists, why not offer a little more quality. Perhaps some Casa Noble anejo single barrow or an El Tosoro Anniversario? The number of Americans with good knowledge of high quality tequilas is rapidly growing and they should be taking full advantage. You are in Mexico La Europea, take advantage of your situation. Make a name for yourself. You should probably start by finding someone to run the tequila department that has a love for high quality tequila and send them to the tequila district to gain firsthand knowledge and to get to know the owners of the distilleries. Take a trip to La Cata while you are there and see how it is really done. Your liquor store is beautiful in appearance; make it beautiful in selection as well.
