I never get "too busy" feeling taking my calls and questions, and she answers them quickly. I like that the firm has lawyers that specialize in different areas. This means they don't charge you for someone to go learn a new subject. They go ask the team member that knows the legal answer already. Great team!

Yeager Employment Law was one of them and I met with Brendan Harvey. It was clearly evident he'd already looked through the initial documents I provided in advance and understood my situation. He helped me understand what to expect if I proceeded and also emphasized that he would advise me but all the decisions would ultimately be mine. After the initial consultation, I retained him as my lawyer and he got to work writing a demand letter that explained why the company's actions were unlawful with several case law citations to back it up. He graciously accepted my feedback on the draft and changed the letter so that I was fully satisfied with it. The employer and their lawyer dragged things out for an awfully long time, but Brendan stayed on top of things and made certain I didn't miss the deadlines to file a court case or tribunal complaint if necessary. He also handled negotiations expertly, refuting the employer's arguments with both citations and logic. The times I chose not to follow his advice were few and far between, and he stayed true to his word that the decisions were mine to make. Email is by far the easiest way for me to communicate and he always accommodated that with prompt responses and no phone calls. He was always very respectful of what was important to me as we negotiated a settlement, even when I changed my mind about something later. It was a very challenging negotiation for reasons that don't belong in a public review, but it was SUCH a relief to have Brendan in my corner advocating for me the whole time while I was in a vulnerable situation. We ultimately reached a settlement I could live with, and although I spent quite a bit on legal fees, I feel it was money very well spent. Brendan was conscious of how legal fees can eat into settlement or court awarded funds and he looked out for my wallet, not just his own. He took SO much stress off my shoulders and I consistently felt heard and respected. I suspect there aren't a lot of positive reviews for most employment lawyers because clients often end up signing NDAs as part of a settlement. Because it was important to me, he pushed back against the employer's desire for a broad confidentiality clause and I'm not contractually silenced. I hope I never need an employment lawyer again, but there is NO question that I'd seek out Brendan to represent me if ever I do. He's a professional who genuinely cares about his clients and helping them get through tough situations. For me personally, the MOST important thing was to not let the employer walk all over me, and Brendan made sure my legal rights were protected and exercised. I'm incredibly glad I found Yeager Employment Law and chose them to handle my case!

I had a very disheartening experience with Waterstone Law Group LLP, Chilliwack, BC, specifically…read moreSheila G. Evani and Brydan J. Heisler. They wasted more than a year of my time. I hired Waterstone Law Group to secure a simple court order for our BC charity registration. On Oct 25, 2024, I sent the retainer to Kate Thompson. On Nov 20, 2024, I confirmed I did the BC Gazette ad. On Dec 2, 2024, Brydan filed the 1st court affidavit and sent docs to the BC Registrar. On Mar 14, 2025, Brydan warned that the BC courts are notoriously slow. On Mar 17, 2025, Samantha Iskender verified that I did the charity name request. On August 27, BC Registry provided consent, and Brydan was to submit the final restoration package. What normally takes 3 weeks took 9 months for Brydan. Then on Sept 15, 2025, Brydan attended a meeting with Kirsten Loney, a paralegal at Waterstone, "concerning next steps for restoration" and billed me for their meeting. On Sept 16, Brydan stated that the retainer had been depleted; the BC Gazette was on strike, preventing him from proceeding. On Sept 26, Brydan proposed that I dissolve our 12-year-old nonprofit and establish a new one. On Oct 3, Brydan consented to provide me with the documents but failed to fulfill this obligation. On Oct 23, I received a nasty email from Sheila. On Nov 13, I received another nasty email from Sheila with the 2nd affidavit but lacking the draft order for which I had paid. Brydan did not complete the filing or submit the draft order and a second affidavit as he had committed to doing. Brydan indicated his inexperience but stated he would seek counsel from other attorneys in the firm, including Sheila G. Evani, who likewise seemingly lacks proficiency in the specific legal area I needed. Sheila indicated that Waterstone Law Group LLP would not render the services for which I compensated them owing to a possible "conflict of interest." I stated that I would initiate a claim against Waterstone Law for professional negligence if they failed to deliver the services for which I had compensated them. I strongly advise against hiring Waterstone Law Group.

They may be good if hired, but if not paying, you will not find even basic human courtesy or a flint of good will. Businesses can be ruthlessly focused on self-interest if they want, and while other law firms are friendly and helpful, Waterstone is not. Bring cash or they'll leave tire tracks on your back.
