Soprani is a great place to buy religious articles, so long as you know what to expect.
This is definitely not the place to go if you are looking for a valuable, high-quality statue or rosary or picture, made of gold or silver. Instead you go to Soprani because you want something simple at a very low price.
For example, you can buy a rosary for less than one Euro. Before Christmas, they have small wooden carved creches for about 5 Euros. It's great if you need to buy a large number of souvenirs for your grandchildren or your students, because you can save a lot of money here compared to other shops in the area.
But Soprani also has a lot of junk made in China, like key-chains and pencils and other low-quality souvenirs. If that's not what you're looking for, you have to wade through the junk to find what you want.
The store appears to be family-run, and the older generation has not mastered the concept of customer service. You might be in a hurry, but they aren't. Definitely avoid the store early on Wednesday morning, before a papal audience, because huge tour-groups come here all at once, the lines are 20 people long, and the cashier doesn't care. But that's the price you pay for getting your merchandise very cheap. read more
