Sophie and Madeline went above and beyond for me and my fiancé. I had done a lot of research to find a reputable jeweler and wanted to avoid 47th due to scary reviews. I liked how they don't try to push you buy anything they were just concerned with helping with my needs. I had a engagement ring that was passed down so it means a lot to me and it was returned so sparkly and looked beautiful. They made sure to get it back to me when they said they would even in a huge snow storm! Will definitely come back for any future jeweler needs. I had an AWFUL experience here. I went under a recommendation, when I asked a friend where I can get my wedding band fixed because a small diamond fell out. She mentioned Sophie's and it was near by so I went. My first time in everyone who worked there seemed a little cold and no one really wanted to help me even though the store was empty. (Maybe it was because I didn't speak Russian) Finally I tell the lady what happened and she said "fine, no problem we can fix it and you'll have it in a week" I over payed but it was more convenient to just get it done. I come back to pick up my ring and it was mangled, heart broken I complain to the manager (Sophie herself) and she just tells me that what I am saying does not make any sense and she was just extremely rude! Then when her partner realized how she was handling it he stepped in and talked to me like an adult and not a child. I liked how he handled things and I got a refund after he took out the diamond they used. My ring however now has a missing diamond and looks like a dog chewed on it. I am still very upset with the service and how I was treated at Sophie's, I would not recommend anyone to go here unless you like being treated like you are two and having things said behind your back (but really to your face) just in russian. read more

I went to this store on a friend recommendation to transform my engagement ring and eternity ring in one new ring. They told me right away my engagement ring diamond was 1.02 HSI1 round and it was initially a D VS2 1.14 carat bought in fortunoff GIA certified (I had the certificate with me). What happened is a broken prong of my platinum engagement ring was fixed 10 years ago on 47th street by a business owned by religious people from my community and that was the only time my engagement ring was out of my hand and sight. Conclusion: they switched the stone on 47th street! I was horrified. In contrast Sophie's is a wonderful jewelry store where they have stunning semi precious stones such as corundrum, pink Quartz, amethyst, rutilated quartz, citrine, chalcedony agate carnelian you name it exquisitely set with diamonds and for a very reasonable price and they are lovely and knowledgeable non pushy salespersons to guide you in your purchase. Their engagement rings and diamonds are also fairly priced. I will go back to this store anytime I will need to buy jewelry. Avoid 47th street at all cost unless you know for sure who you are dealing with. read more

Unfortunately, I did not start my search with Sophie's Creations, as I would've saved myself a ton of time, confusion and frustration. After walking in and taking a look around, I knew I had come to the right place. The store is immaculate with an array of stunning jewelry and a very friendly staff. Sophie spent well over an hour and a half with me educating me on the various styles of diamonds, and the most important aspect of the "C's" when looking for the "perfect" stone that fits into your budget. We looked at many stones and paired them with what felt like a million settings, and not once did she show any signs of annoyance and frustration with my indecision. When I left the store without making my decision, all I could think of was her generosity and kindness for sitting with me and helping me with the most important and nerve-racking decision of my life up until now. For all Sophie knew, I was just another indecisive bachelor that could end up buying somewhere else. In the end, I went with my "perfect" stone and "perfect" setting with the help of Sophie and her daughter Madeline. My wife and I had an excellent experience at Sophies. Full disclosure, I hate shopping for jewelry. I've worked with Jewelers on 47th street, which made the experience even worse. This is what makes Sophies stand out. She's calm, incredibly professional and helpful. I personally dealt with Sophie when purchasing studs for my wife which were a big hit. My wife and her friend later purchased updated wedding bands, both of which came out beautiful. I cant imagine going anywhere else. We came to New York to replace our lost wedding ring/band. After visiting numerous stores we stumbled upon Sophie's. If I knew about this store sooner, we would have skipped all the rest. The store itself is very open and spacious. I personally enjoyed the light refreshments they provided (drinks, snacks, etc)...while the store staff spent literally 90 mins patiently working with my wife to find the perfect stones and rings. I think I gained 3 lbs eating snacks ;-) We worked with Madeline Roth. She was an excellent and patient teacher for my wife who was very anxious after losing her original rings. Madeline displayed varying styles and sizes of stones and settings. In the end we found the perfect combination...and we can happily say that we are happier with these rings than the lost ones. The pricing is competitive and fair...and their craftsmanship and ability to customize orders is first class. My fiance's family has been going to Sophie's for over 10 years so they were highly recommended to us when we went looking for a new setting for my engagement ring. I spoke with Sasha and Sophie and they were extremely helpful. They talked to you about your style, your budget and answered all my questions. Sometimes when I asked for something that I wanted to do, Sasha would explain why it wouldn't look good together with this wedding band. I never felt pressured to buy anything and I never felt rushed through the store. I went back about 5 times before I finally made a decision. I visited about 20 different jewelery stores in manhattan, queens and long island (no exaggeration) but in the end I came back to Sophie's not just because they had the best customer service but also because they had the most beautiful setting of all that I had seen. I also felt like I was paying fair market value for it. I didn't feel like they would cheat me on price or quality. Sasha always had an open and consistent line of communication, and he really took the time to get to know me. He found 2 matching emerald cut diamonds for me that complemented my stone perfectly and then listened carefully to my style wants. Never rushed our decision and counseled us to do the right thing, which wasn't the most expensive option on the table. My husband and I have used Sophie and her family's business to buy our jewelry since we moved to Fresh Meadows in 1989 and since we moved away to Great Neck. I think every piece of important jewelry I own is from Sophie's. I have also had my rings, including my engagement ring resized there when my weight has fluctuated after pregnancies, etc. and the workmanship was perfect. The quality of the jewelry is magnificent. I have purchased anything from small pieces for my son's to give to their girlfriends for birthdays to large extravagant pieces for myself or very dear friends for gifts. The range in selection is tremendous and Sophie's prices are fair, not cheap, but fair. The gemstones are top quality and the settings are beautiful. My husband has even worked with Sophie to design a gorgeous tourmaline ring, earrings and necklace after my second son was born that people stop me on the street to admire and I have never seen anything like it. As far as I'm concerned, I never need anywhere else to shop. I see that there was one negative review and I can only imagine that this had to be a very rare experience and she should give the store another chance. read more
